Alexander might as well just sign the tender at this rate. He's getting older and no team wants to sign a long term deal this late in his career unless he changes his name to LT3.

Seahawks21, heard Boulware looked pretty good yesterday. I think he would be a great pick up. He's also one of those quality character guys that Ruskell is so big on and he knows how to win.

yea i heard he looked very good, which surprises me zero. Heck, he's just a good player and quite a physical specimen. I'm sure I have homer bias, but I don't see any better fit out there for Boulware. Nobody needs a pass rusher or OLB depth like the Seahawks do, and his freaking little brother starts at safety!!!! My thinking is that Peter must have been doing pretty bad physically when he visited Seattle. I can't think of any other reasons why this deal isnt' done yet. You'd think after releasing Koren and not yet replacing his money, that they would have the money to get this thing done. Come on guys!!

Let me rephrase that. He is only 27 (28 when the regular season starts), but the Seahawks don't want to sign him to a long year deal into his 30s. Unless he is proven to be as durable as Curtis Martin, but who knows. Then add in the whole back stabbing thing he said about Holmgren/attitude and they would just rather avoid keeping him around. Maybe if he were 25-26, but once you get close to that 30 age, teams aren't gonna want to give you the long term deal.

This is from ESPN Insider. I'm posting it here rather then a link so non Insder members can see it.

Jul 15 - After months of shopping, the Buffalo Bills finally appear close to dealing unhappy their running back.

Reports in the Buffalo News and Florida Times Union cite Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio as saying a trade for Henry is imminent. However, ESPN's Chris Mortensen is hearing the Tennessee Titans the most likely partner, with Jacksonville a close second.

Mortensen said on ESPN Radio on Friday that while Henry might prefer to go to Jacksonville, which reportedly could offer him a better contract extension, the Bills are focusing their attention on the Titans' offer.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli has reported renewed interest from Seattle in acquiring Henry, but the Seahawks refused to confirm that to the Seattle Times.

They have this to say on Boulware.

Jul 15 - Despite an impressive workout on Thursday before four teams -- Seahawks, Browns, Texans and Steelers -- Boulware has yet to receive a contract offer, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Before the workout, the Browns had concerns that Boulware could only be effective as a part-time rush specialist at this stage of his career. The workout apparently did not ease those concerns.

The Seahawks declined to discuss what they saw other than to confirm that pro personnel director Will Lewis attended the workout, the Tacome News Tribune reports.

The Steelers lack depth at outside linebacker, and might be interested in Boulware as a situational pass rusher, particularly if he can be signed to a deal for the NFL veteran minimum salary or thereabouts, plus incentives, the Pittsburgh Tribune-review reports.

The session was designed to allay injury concerns that have left Boulware unemployed since May. He tried to show his pass-rush skills haven't diminished.

While Boulware has visited the Browns, Seahawks and Texans, he reportedly still has not received a contract offer close to his $3 million to $4 million per year asking price.

The thing a lot of people further away from the situation don't notice is that Alexander has fallen totally out of favor with front office, coaches and players, and even more so with Seahawk fans.  If he signs a long term deal in Seattle it will be because the Seahawks had no other viable options.  I'm usually not a huge proponent of the statement that "any back could do that well in this system", but in this case I believe it holds water.  Not to say that Maurice Morris could fill Shaun's shoes, but I sincerely believe that Henry could run for 2-300 more yards than Shaun.

21, you've been hanging out too much with Koren Robinson.

Alexander is a primadonna that probably isn't the favorite of the front office, coaches, and some fans. He is however a bonafide performer, one of the very best in the game at his position. And all the football people know that in order to win this season, they need him as a part of things.

And Travis Henry is not a viable option at RB in the NFL any longer.

Alexander is an ass perhaps, but he's an accomplished ass. He deserves a better deal than what the franchise tag gives a player of his stature.

He lost his job due to an injury.

How is he no longer a viable option?

He ran at a 3.3 ypc clip last season when healthy. Very rarely have RBs suffered the kind of drop in production Henry has over the last two seasons and returned to be a viable runner in the NFL.

His production was not too much higher when he was a starting and productive running back for the bills.

Do you know anything about football, or do you base everything on nothing more than the stats? The guy was playing hurt before he he went on IR.

What else do you have to measure Henry's performance? If the guy was still good, Buffalo wouldn't be dumping him.

or rather, if McGahee was not better and if Henry was not being a bad locker room presence for how badly he has been treated.

Pfft. You call *that* productive. :D Please. The paltry 13 rushing TDs he scored in 2002, and 10 in 2003 were garbage. Worthless, I say! And I don't care that he tacked on another 309 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD in 2002, or another 158 and 1 TD in 2003. I want REAL production from my RB, dammit! :D Not that sissy 1,747 combined yards and 14 TDs in 2002, or the 1,514 combined yards and 11 TDs in 2003. Because those kinds of running backs can be found in the late rounds of any draft, easy.

Eddie 'Orc Centurian' George got away with that kind of ball his whole career.

Henry should have a couple more years of it in him.

Eh, only really in 1996-2000. After that he tapered off. He never got better than 3.4 ypc or broke 1200 yards after that.

:D WATCH HIM FREAKING PLAY@@@@@###@!!

The guy is a savage beast who runs with reckless abandon and has agility and explosiveness to boot. He's gonna make someone, in this case the Titans, very happy.

ok um you might wanna not post things that you dont no what youre talking about. How is Shaun Alexander old? Shaun Alexander is like a Randy Moss type of player hes selfish but he always puts the team first. We wouldnt have won half of our games without him. Esspecially with our receivers.

Shaun is both a whiner and a "me-first" guy, and the Hawks officials and fans want this guy out of town badly, just can't find any takers.

Dont ever state your opinion and say that seahawk fans want Shaun Alexander gone. Thats a bull shucks statement you made. I am a Season ticket holder and long time Seahawk fan and did you ever notice we have been doing well when Shaun Alexander is at the peak of his career look at his season numbers from 2002 to 2005 his numbers are rising and will get way better too if hes stays with Seattle. I just hope bull shucks people like you dont say shucks and fail our team.
