  1. I called a couple nights ago. 12 year customer or so. I think I was still under contract from some changes we made last year. They put up no fight at all with me on call number 1 (usually take 3-4 calls). 43 off a month for 12 months, a $50 credit, free ticket and max, showtime for 4 months. Had to sign new 1 year contract. I didnt argue, just said sounds good. I was on hold for 43 minutes before anyone answered. I think they may be feeling the heat of all the new ways to watch tv. I used the customer retention and just said i wanted to cancel because of cost and my kids use the firestick to watch about all their shows. Not bad, ill take it.
  2. Like others posted, i too had the $0 showing last month. I called to verify and the rep told me I would indeed be receiving free. looked at bill today and it showed 54.99 extra this month. Called them up, used "cancel service" to get straight to retnetion. first guy confirmed the rep's notes that I would be getting free. stated she was wrong. didnt have authority to fix, transferred me to cancellation dept. There i spoke to a rep who was apologetic for her response, but said my bill clearly stated i had to pay. basically said tough luck. i quit arguing what first rep had said, and stated very politely and professionally, "Can you offer me the ticket free or I will cancel" (I have been a customer since '03 which they always mention when they answer). Put me on hold for 10 minutes, came back and said I was would get a one time bill for 160 and a one time credit of 160. Said thank you and went on. Im not looking to get crazy discounts or free channles, i just think it is bs new customers get it free, while loyal customers dont. moral of the story, it can be done if you have 45 minutes to waste on the phone, and Im sure it has alot to do with who you get.
  3. Anyone have any sites to watch the game online tonight? Traveling and only have my laptop with me. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
  4. Was listening to local radio here in cincy, and everyone is saying the bengals must win one more game than the jets to make the playoffs (assuming that the titans, raiders, chargers do not come into play). So basically bengals need to go 2-0 and jets 1-1 in their final 2 games. So in doing my own research (and grasping at anything) I do not think this is true. If they both win out, I can see a scenario in which the bengals can make it. Am I Missing something?? Bengals remaining schedule : Arz and Balt Jets remaining schedule: NyG and Mia Tie breakers from nfl.com TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM OR AMONG DIVISION WINNERS If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken. 1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker. 2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps. Two Clubs 1. Head-to-head, if applicable. 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. 4. Strength of victory. 5. Strength of schedule. 6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best net points in conference games. 9. Best net points in all games. 10. Best net touchdowns in all games. 11. Coin toss. So......Here is my tiebreaker: 1. Have not played 2. Both are 6-5...if they both win out they will both be 7-5 3. Jets are 3-2 and the Bengals are 2-2. The only common opponent left is cincy vs balt. so if they bengals win this they will be 3-2 as well. 4. This is where Im unsure. If it is on they year, the Jets total pts are 346-315 (+31). The bengals are 305-283 (+22). So I guess what Im looking for is if my logic is correct (especially #4) and if so, should I call marvin and tell him to score as many points as possible?? I remember GB doing this several years ago. Do I think the Bengals are going to win the Superbowl, no. But I would love Dalton to get some playoff time and who knows, we could catch pit or balt 1st round and weve seen them both twice.
  5. I like R Jennings, especially if MJD goes down early. Like Foster, had some good games late, you can see the potential, but Jax doesnt have the passing offense like Hou to open up the run game. Ive been nabbing him mid-late rounds and especially traded for him during the lockout in my dynasty for a pick that ended up being Leshoure
  6. Just got off the phone with Directv. Went straight to customer retention. BSed with the rep, who was very friendly. Asked him if there was any penalty for canceling my service since I was close to moving, and wanted to bundle my tv with ATT, which i have for everything else. only thing keeping me was NFL ticket, which has just become too expensive. He informed me that ATT uverse now bundles with Directv, which I didnt know and thought I was going to lose it right there. More BS and I told him I thought it wasnt right for new customers to get ticket free, not existing. at this point, he never would answer my original question, so I know my contract had expired. so I know i have the option to cancel and resign, which they would be stupid to do because it would cost them more money. so he then goes on to say he had a bunch of offers if I wanted to fix everything right now. he offered me 22 bucks off a month for the next year. he then offered me 5 bucks off for the next 2 years. im sure these could have been things I never have called on but could have gotten. he then gave me ticket for free, which i was not expecting. i gladly accepted. he reminded me that i have been a customer for 9 years and that they were all about keepning tenured customers. on a side note, he was asking me football questions and bengals questions which were hilarious. he had no clue. he then informed me that hed been to dayton before to see the hall of fame. didnt have the heart to tell him im about 3 hours away from CANTON, where i believe the hall of fame still is, unless it moved to my backyard and no one informed me. Anyway, i feel i got a pretty good deal and more than i expected. dont know if was just the perfect storm of expired contract, moving soon, long time custoemr, and good rep, but it was very smooth and only about 10 minutes. i almost feel like i coulda got more, but wasnt too greedy. anyway, good luck everyone. hope this helps. ready for some football!!! EDIT TO ADD: very similar to previous post. didnt see that until after my post. this may be the way to go if you are in our scenario!
  7. Agreed, one of the few I still enjoy listening too.
  8. Its not as bad as the thrown together crew on TNF on NFLN, but its damn close. And I have never met Buck, nor heard of anyone who has, but I can only imagine he is one the most smug arrogant d1cks out there. He is really high on my list of sh1tty announcers. But there again, what announcers are good anymore?
  9. +1. Some great info every week and also very interesting. Hope to see some offseason jumbotron.
  10. I really hate seeing on these forums and the bottom of the artciles on the main page the following: WDIS: pick 2 at flex. standard Choice Hightower Woodhead Felix LT Crabtree MSW M Thomas Tamme And then god forbid, if I dont answer the top 2, thats why I stopped putting my 2cents in on those. The reason I play FF is to make these decisions, thats part of the fun. I weekly read ESPN, CBS, and thehuddle to see what they have for my guys, but in the end its my decision. If I didnt have a gut feeling and want to prove Im right to my opponent, why play? Its a game, and for whats it worth, I dont post much, but i read the huddle forums and pay section everyday, and they are well worth the membership, and much more knowledge is hidden in the articles then any popular site (ESPN, CBS, Fox, etc..). Not to be a kiss ass, but everyday there is a least 1 thing I read. I love Fridays when jumbo comes out. But my membership this year was free too because I won something in the playoffs last year! ETA: another I love about being a paying member is the side games that are constantly going on. i won 100 bucks in something else last year and DMD mailed me a check. that right there is worth a membership to me.
  11. I just recently got a free 3 months of Sirius with my new SUV. What channel is it and times? hopefully they play it at diferent times cause I usually drive early (4-5am). also, does anyone like the nfl channel (124 i think?) ive found a few things worth listening to, but overall seems very poor quality. but like i said, its usually early in the am, and then whatever time im heading home.
