It's a great league and an albeit obscure scoring system, but it is fun. As for controversy every time, nah, just on these occasional plays where a players status has to be clarified (Imagine "Slash" during his early Steeler days ) We probably get 1 of these a year. Makes for fun and interesting debates/fights/pissing matches etc.... One contention on this play is that Vick was clearly lined up at the WR position (never took snap (As Obviously Indicated By The NFL)) with another player assuming his QB role. The lateral represents only the fact that Vick then becomes a rushing WR with an option to pass the ball should a receiver present itself, either way, if he were to run it in OR pass it in from this point he is a WR with possesion of the football and it would be 2X points should he score. So the fact that the NFL recognizes that this is an unusual score and demonstrates this by listing Dunn as taking snap and then Vick getting the lateral is not relevant? On a flea flicker the lateral is not listed since the same person that took the snap ends back up with the football and "throws" a TD. In this case the NFL seperates Vick from the QB position by declaring Dunn took the snap, doesn't it? (2:00) (Shotgun) M.Vick pass to R.White for 54 yards, TOUCHDOWN. Direct snap to 28-W. Our relevant scoring rule: Any TD over 40 yards is 12 points Out of position scoring is doubled (i.e. WR that Passes a TD over 40 yards gets 24 points) Michael Vick lines up as a WR with Dunn taking the snap (as QB).
