  1. Thank you sir. That was just the info I was looking for. Good Luck to you this week.
  2. I'm just curious what the highest o/u that any of you have seen yet this year and what that matchup was if you can recall it.
  3. Roddy White hasn't killed me yet but he has been slipping cyanide in my Sunday morning Bloody Mary most weeks.
  4. Thank you very much for him. A friend of mine coached LG Travis Frederick and Travis told him that Wilson mastered the playbook in like two weeks. He said it was amazing to watch. We are very fortunate to have him.
  5. Thank you for the correction. I'm still in preseason form.
  6. Ryan Williams off on the cart. Knee or ankle.
  7. Are you ready for some football!
  8. With Willis gone, Leech's arrival, and a decent looking schedule what do you see as the over/under for for total yards and total TDs for Ray Rice this year? Do you dare think that he may outperform the backs typically being drafted ahead of him? I'm thinking that the over under may be 2000 total yards /11TDs. What say you?
  9. Love: American Girl Like: Won't Back Down Hate: Don't Come Around Here No More Next: Van Halen
  10. Sounds like your Bettis is as tough to bring down as his namesake. Good luck and enjoy your time with him.
  11. How would I fix it? #1 Stop throwing money at urban districts in the hope that cash will magically fix what ills them. Cash is not going to get the 30% that is habitually truant in school. MPS spends like $14,000 per student each year while my district spends less than half that. #2 I would take a hard look at the cost of health insurance. This single cost is one of the main reasons why budgets have spiraled out of control. There was a story in the paper just the other day about a woman who was charged $1800 for having a tick removed. In 1995 I was laid up a night in the hospital and when I looked at the bill I was charged $40 for cotton balls and like $50 for six Advil. Talk about waste. I certainly am not apposed to changing carriers so long as the coverage will cover my family when we need it. The cost of health care needs to be examined.
  12. First question. Yes, that being said, we clearly disagree about what people with master's degrees in different fields make. Second question. Can't answer that question. If kids were in school year round I would still have to complete all of those outside-of-school duties on top of teaching, so in reality I would be working much more than the 40 hours/week 48 weeks out of the school year. No one likes losing income. I have accepted my fate this year but I am very concerned about 2012 and beyond. I guess you can add one more passenger to a very crowded boat of all types of people with the same concerns.
  13. Looking back to the post I believe that I quoted Caddyman and said to pay me the average if he was going to have me work his 50 week work year. If you think that most GOOD teachers work the same hours that you have outlined you're sadly mistaken. In fact just today, on my summer "vacation", I spent two hours this morning creating a spread sheet and setting up meetings to discuss placement of four math students for the next school year. After school meetings, preparation, concerts, open houses, training, assessment review and learning plan implementation, parent meetings, continuing education to maintain licensure, and grading are just a few things that go well beyond your clock hours. Because of their busy after school schedules, I have many students who need to make up work that they didn't finish at home. It's not my fault that some parents put baseball, soccer, dance, basketball, or whatever ahead of schoolwork but it is still my responsibility to get those students caught up. I am judged on their performance. I routinely spend lunch or after-school time working with students. Which pushes even more work after hours. It's a trade off SEC, if you want us to work your hours fine. My brightest and best will continue to shine. But the ones who need more attention will not get it. I'm all for year round school. It will improve scores and more than likely keep some kids out of trouble. But how is WI going to afford it? Look, all I know is that my monthly income is dropping $450 come Sept. in order to balance a roughly 10% budget cut. In 2012 we are projected to have a 9% budget cut. That rightly concerns me. I entered this thread to dispute that everything is now "hunky-dory" in WI. Not once did I whine, I did however shed light on the situation in WI by presenting facts and sharing my fears.
  14. In my response to AZ I noted how mine and many other WI districts are facing funding cuts again in 2012. I am not looking for hand out or pats on the back. I am looking to stop the continued bleeding that will be coming down the pike. Walker gave the school boards "tools" by taking away CB. When the budgets are shorted it will be easy for boards to cut staff compensation in the future. I have gone on record here as saying I could accept the 2011 cuts in which I will pay half my pension and 15% of my insurance. What I am talking about is the fear of taking that same cut year after year. I have taught in my district for 13 years. We have had a surplus once in that time. In the same time the salary scale has gone up 4% while health care costs have gone up 28%. I am not "crying" I am instead expressing a fear that I have. If I lose $900 in monthly take home income over the next two years I am fearful for what that may mean for my family. Never once have I expressed a belief that I am "above" any other profession. I instead have disagreed with you about how simple the teaching profession is. In retrospect I think you may have missed my point.
