So after some furious trade negotiations for the past few days post week 4, I made the following trade:
See my lineup/roster in my signature below.
I receive Chris Johnson.
I give Brandon Marshall, Daniel Thomas, Ray Lewis, Takeo Spikes.
Anyhow, with all my trade discussions with multiple teams I was offered the following additional trade:
I get Jeremy Maclin and I give Matt Ryan, my backup QB.
The offer is still open, so I can accept it, but I'm thinking I won't. Am I crazy?
Here's my thinking.
1) Players in my starting lineup, not on my bench, win championships. Reason to accept the trade.
2) The marginal improvement of Maclin over J. Jones or V. Davis is maybe 2 points a week on average. Not worth the risk of losing Cam Newton who is an unproven commodity later in the season. In other words I'm willing to sacrifice 2 points a week for the security of having a solid backup QB.
This is a strange spot for me. In a vacuum, this decision goes against every fiber in my being. But it feels right this time. Your thoughts?
