  1. If you can get Manning in the 5th round than that should set you up for a really good draft.
  2. That's what I keep thinking. It looked like defenses started to figure out how to play the Eagles at the end of last year. And their line this year has looked atrocious.
  3. I run an 8 player league (that's all we will allow) and you really need 2 QB's starting to make it challenging. Not to mention get some votes together for ppr. The key to running a fun competitive 8 team league is having more starters than a 12 team league. But for you I would wait on a QB b/c there are probably 5/6 stud QB's then you get into the second tier. I would look to get one of the QB's at the bottom of tier 1: think Brees/Rivers. as opposed to Ryan/Schaub. But you really can't go wrong with 8 teams and only starting 1 QB.
  4. Ah the days of laughing at people because they bought a book w/o IDP's. Guys drafting retired players and players out for the year. Buying the USA today Mon-Wed to get all the stats. The Sunday morning call to the opponent to give each other your lineups. At least our local still meets in person for the draft every year. One of my favorite days of the year!
  5. In my league we start 2 QB's and they are the highest scoring position. We can keep 3-5 players each year. I will be keeping 2 QB's (you can't keep three). My dilemma is this: P. Rivers, M. Vick, S. Bradford. I will definitely keep Rivers. My question is Vick or Bradford? At first glance most will say Vick but this is a keeper league and I believe Bradford will be one of the best QB's in the league in the near future. Also Vick's numbers fell off at the end of the year and the O-line has looked terrible in the preseason. So who do I keep Vick or Bradford?
  6. What is that supposed to mean? I lost in the championship game last year. I play in the $500wcoff league that a guy runs on this site. Come join our league. Also I was the champion of our local league.
  7. I play in a local 8 team league and a wcoff 12 man league and my 8 man league will always be my favorite. We start 2QB 3RB 4WR 1TE 1K 3DL 3LB 3DB for a total of 20 starters. We have 32 man rosters. Every person in this league has been in larger leagues yet every one of them says they like this one the best. For example when you only start 9 or 10 players if one has a huge week there is a good chance you will win. When you have 20 starters you have to have balance and can't just get lucky and win bc your QB scored 50 points. One owner said to me he liked how one week Mcnabb scored 57 points yet he still lost. He claimed that's what made the 8 team league more competitive and less about luck b/c of so many starters. Everyone has their own opinion but we love our league and we are going into our 18th year with people on a waiting list to join but we barely have people leave. Try it I think you will like it unless you only have 10 starters then it will suck b/c everyone will have studs all over.
  8. Kurt Warner dominated with the Rams for several years then came back to do it again in Arizona.
  9. I was 8 years old and the Dolphins and Redskins were playing in the SB. My mother was always a Dolphins fan so I was rooting for them in this game. I made a $2 bet with a family friend of my parents as I was positive that my mother's team could never lose. As history shows the Dolphins did lose this game to the Washington Redskins. I remember being so upset that the team I bet on lost. As a kid I couldn't believe that my mother's team lost. My Dad slipped me the $2 to pay off my bet. From that day on I said if this team is good enough to beat my mom's team they were the team that I would root for, and the rest is history. Never wavered from that day on even though the Skins got smoked by the Raiders in the following SB. Hail To The Redskins!!!
  10. AJ bit off his nose to spite his face. Now you won't get the compensation you would have b/c he is out 6 games instead of 3. I've always felt AJ was a dope, this confirms it.
  11. I'd gp AP and definitely a LB for IDP.
  12. Don't ever go in to a draft with a strict plan on the positions you are going to draft. A good drafter can alter his gameplan and take a position where he can get the best value. For example if there is a big run on QB's and you have the choice between a third tier QB and a top tier rb or wr, take the rb or wr. Drafts never go exactly how you think they will. Being able to adapt is what makes a good drafter.
  13. Exactly. I never understood why anyone would want to be in ten different leagues. The best part of FF is being able to watch almost any game and have players in it to root for. If you are in a ton of leagues you don't know what to root for, I guess you just watch and see what happens. I was always in just one league that I run but two years ago I joined a second, and that is enough. I even get aggravated w/ two leagues if I have a player in one league and my opponent has him in the other. It takes all the fun out of it for me. I really prefer to be in one really good league with a lot of starters (ie IDP's) and live or die with those players. I did it like that for 10+ years and that was the most fun. But I was in the playoffs almost every year and have the most championships in that league. I guess if you're not that good at FF you may want to have a lot of leagues, otherwise put it all on the line with one team in a high dollar league.
  14. Voting for trades is to prevent collusion as others have said. You don't veto trades just because it will make a team better or b/c an owner makes a stupid trade. I make everyone in my league understand that and we have never had a trade vetoed. In fact most people don't even vote. They would only vote if they felt they needed to veto a trade.
  15. Our league started in 1994. I remember having Bettis when he was still on the Rams and I had I. Bruce when he was a rookie. We actually have had an IDP league since 1994. It took a long time to catch on mainstream. I remember having to buy the USA Today on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays b/c the night games didn't make the paper the next day. We also called each other every Sunday to put in our lineups which caused many arguments when some people would call 5 or 10 minutes late. Thankfully now we have computers so there are no disputes.
