  1. This is interesting, you sound pretty sure about that. Are you basing it off of any NEW information or are you basing it off of the information that came about in EARLY February that said he MIGHT have to have another surgery and IF he did he would be IRed in 2007 and his career might be in jeopardy? The following article is being posted all over the net about Bentley and just surfaced around day 1 of the draft. I am hoping its true. LeCharles Bentley was in Columbus working out at Sports Connection, and he told people there that he will be back to partake in the team's mini-camp. Maybe not in May, but in June. Looking over him, one of the guys asked is he had lost weight. He said no, that he is in the best shape of his life. He currently weighs 326#, he's as strong as ever, and his patella tendon is perfectly fine. It was the staph infection that set him back. Bentley said, "if I never play again that's fine, but I will play this season." Don't care much for that last line, but I seriously doubt he would force playing this year if he knew it would be the end of the line.
  2. Was the Trade REALLY that bad???? Think about it. We gave up an early round 2 pick this year for the PRIVLEDGE of using our 08 round 1 right now. In the process we gained our Franchise QB whom will have a year of experience under his belt by the time we would have gotten to use the pick next season in a draft that is QB weak.
  3. Is it just me? Or does that Smiley up there ^^^^^^ when he is rolling on his belly look like he is really takin it hard from behind????
  4. Really, it comes down to they GAVE away an early round 2 this year for the privledge of using thier own Round 1 in 08 a year early.
  5. Good luck with that prediction... every single postion on both sides of the ball has been either directly or indirectly upgraded and the Browns will be running the same Offense that was used in San Diego last year instead of having a playbook drawn in crayon. Lets have a look shall we? Direct upgrades, new players at new postions LT - they drafted a rock in Joe Thomas LG - they brought in a pro bowl calibur player with Steinbach C- back from injury comes another pro bowl calibur player in Bentley RG - they slide Tucker over to the position at which he won a super bowl playing in St. Lewis RT - They move Shaffer over to his more natural position These guys will feed off of one another and make one of the best OLines in the league with new coaching. The entire OLine just got upgrade, the games are won in the trenchs. FB - L. Vickers... was touted as the TOP FB in the draft in the 2005 draft, now getting his shot with a much improved team around him. RE - They brought in a young man that 3 years ago AND 2 years ago each, under the same DCoordinator in the same scheme had 100+ tackles on a lesser team with less talented teammates. Last year had 70 plus tackles for a system he doesn't fit into. His name is Robaire Smith. NT - The brought in a big, strong, bulky player that the Bungles used in obvious run situations that did very well when he played. He wasn't an every down player in Cinci because he lacked the speed required for the Cincy 4-3. The 3-4 is the exact opposite. The NT job is not to shoot gaps and make plays in the backfield as it is with the 4-3. His job will be to take up space, command double teams, and open rushing lanes for the best set of LBs in the league to make the big plays. LE - Last years projected starter O. Roye, while not spectacular, was injured all year long and will be back this year and is an upgrade to the scrub that started in 06. Once again, the games are won and lost in the trenchs. Indirect upgrades, positions that got better because of the direct upgrades WR 1 - B. Edwards, a player that was taken #3 overall and was showing why in year 1 when he went down with an ACL. He is now 1 year removed from that injury, entering his 3rd season, and will have an upgraded franchise QB with an upgraded OLine giving him time tossing the ball to him and a running game that actually demands respect. Also don't underestimate the importance of the new Offensive coaching. Can you say BREAKOUT PLAYER? WR 2 - J. Jurvicious, same reasons as Edwards with the new QB, Line, Running Game, and Coaching. TE - K. Winslow, See Edwards above. OLB - K. Wimbley, was a stud as a rookie now has big, strong, DLinemen in front of him to create more rushing lanes for him to create havok in the backfield and ruin opposing QBs day. ILB - A. Davis, always productive, but now, much like Wimbley, has help upfront to give him more opportunities to make plays. ILB - D. Jackson, had 100 Plus tackles as a rookie, now has the upfront help to free him even more. LCB - L. Bodden, a very respectible and productive season, but gave up plays when opposing QBs had all day to throw and WRs had all day to get open. Not happening this year, big plays will be made. SS - S. Jones, an already pro bowl calibur player now will have a distressed qb throwing balls to unprepared WRs, he will be a ball hawk and a nightmare for other WRs. The Double Whammy Direct AND Indirect upgrades RB - J. Lewis, yet another probowl calibur player, still pretty young at 27, played hurt the last couple of hears so his value dropped. Has a Baltimore sized chip on his shoulder and is playing for a contract. Is completely healthy and has the above mentioned line in front of him. QB - B. Quinn, comes into the league NFL ready, or at least very close, a definite upgrade over Frye. But at the same time has these tools to use that Frye never had. A super line in front of him, has a pro bowl RB behind him, and has healthy weapons in Edwards and Winslow to throw to, and a real offensive playbook and coaching. OLB - Much like R. Smith, A. Peek had very good years under the Browns current DCoordinator, with a lesser team and lesser team mates surrounding hiim. With that improved line and the upgrade at the position, he will be a nightmare in the backfield all day long. RCB - A round 1 talent was drafted this year by the name of E. Wright. He was the most talented CB in the draft and will turn into a shut down corner. He only slid to round 2 because of PERCEIVED off field issues. It was a one time incident. He was cleared of all charges, and was completely clean before and has been since. Also will reap the rewards of facing pressured QBs and WRs that just don't have time to get open. F Safety - They let a good one go in Russell to make room for the younger, more athletic, playmaking early 2005 draft pick that B. Poole that will also have the benefit of a pressured QB and WRs without time to make plays. With these upgrades, the Browns have also added a LOT of depth (something that sorely hurt them last year and led to a lot of late losses in close games.) Guys like McGinest Washington Leon Williams C. Frye Fraley Adams McDonald Baxter Holly McKinney Sowells Butler Holly Most of these guys were either hurt, starting for the Browns, or on other teams last year. They cut McCoutchen, obviously he was replaced. Lost Russell and he has been replaced. They lost Dennis Northcut, a punt return man, and replaced him in the draft. Cut T. Smith, replaced by Vickers. They have done all of these things while EVERY other team in the division has suffered significant losses and a LOT of them. Good Luck with that #1 pick, this team will win 9 or 10 games. 6. This is speculation, never been proven, never really been tested. He barely gets double digit carries.
  7. Just a rookie to the Huddle, I hang my hat at another fantasy football message board and have my thousands of posts over there. Been in the game for many years. I just found the huddle a few weeks ago while looking for boards to recruit owners for my new dynasty league, I like the board, seems like a good online community, so I read up occasionally, and when I see something that catchs my eye, I post it. This caught my eye. That is exactly what Barry Sanders brought to the table. He would run for -2, 3, 1, -1, then break off a 95 yarder. At the end of the day, his stat line was usually pretty awesome. Give Tatum the rock full time and see what he does. He will get his share of the low ball numbers, but he will get his share of game breakers too.
  8. The truth no one really thinks about just slapped you in the face, wake up football fans, Tatum Bell should be starting. If Shanignad keeps holding the grudge or whatever it is against Tatum, he will be a FA eventually and someone will give him some major coin and give him his shot soon enough... thats why he is on 2 of my dynasty league teams, and I would love to have him on the other 2.
  9. QUOTE "tatum Bell is notorious for his large gains and then doing nothing after that....he's pretty inconsistent..." Funny, the double standard we have and how shallow we are, this is exactly how Barry Sanders was and you dog him the first time and everyone thinks you are a chump
  10. just curious beaumont, why do the salarys in the Vet draft snake? For example, pick 2-16 costs more than pick 2-01. The values decend backward in every other round.
  11. thank you gentlemen... the rules are now set, just have to get the owners... Hate to post a link here to the competition, but no way I am typing all of that out again. http://www.kffl.com/forums/showthread.php?...d=1#post2915717 if you want to sign up, register and join. Special thanks to Beaumont, I used this format, just removed parts of it that over complicated it, and tweaked it a bit. If anyone wants to play, go post your interest.
  12. That is very complicated, but exactly the kind of info I am looking for. Might use it as a starting point, and just tweak it some. Like perhaps removing the escalators... if a player is under contract for 4 years for example, his salary shouldn't go up, he is under contract. It will go up for the next contract. But thank you for the ideas.
  13. For reference, here is the basic ruleset used in the current dynasty leagues I play in, I am hoping for something every bit as detailed as this, just a completely different system. Feel free to use these rules as a starting point for your brainstorming suggestions. Rosters - All players from the previous year's roster carry over unless traded or released. - Rosters must range from 18-20 players. - One IR spot is available to each franchise. A player qualifies for IR if he is placed on IR by his NFL team. - A player placed on IR will NOT have his salary count against the salary cap. - Once on IR, a player cannot be removed unless he is released. - Two spots are available for the practice squad. - The practice squad does not have to be utilized by a team. - Prior to the start of the season, each team sets their practice squad. Each player will be signed to a 1 year contract at their current salary. All previous contracts are voided. - Players on the practice squad count against the salary cap. - Teams can sign free agents to their practice squad if they have an open slot. - Teams can cut a player from the practice squad. Salary cap penalties apply. - During the season, ONLY 1 player can be "called up" from the practice squad provided they have room on their active roster. - All players on a roster must be under contract before the day the season starts. Any player not under contract at that time is considered released. - Only active players can be started. Practice squad/IR players are not eligible. Starting Lineups - Starting lineup is: QB, RB, WR, RB/WR, RB/WR, TE, K, DEF - Lineups are due by the first kickoff on Sunday. Players participating in early games must be designated prior to the start of those games only. - If you fail to submit your lineup, the previous week's lineup will be used. - If you fail to submit a lineup for two weeks, the previous week's lineup will be used and you will receive a warning. - If you fail to submit a lineup for three weeks, the league will assume control of your franchise and you will be removed. - If you are planning to be unavailable for an extended period of time, make arrangements with the commissioner. Scoring - QB/RB/WR/TE TDs scored: 6 pts. TDs passing: 4 pts. 2 pt conversions: 2 pts. Passing yardage: 1 pt. every 25 yards Rushing yardage: 1 pt. every 10 yards Receiving yardage: 1 pt. every 10 yards Receptions: 1 pt. every 2 receptions (WR and TE only) Interception/Fumble Lost: -2 pts. - Kickers Field Goals: 0-39=3, 40-49=4, 50+=5 Extra Points: 1 pt. - Defense/Special Teams TD scored: 6 pts. The penalty is 10% of the player's salary (rounded up - for example a contract of $52 would incur a $6 penalty) and is applied for the number of years of the contract. - The minimum penalty for cutting a player is $3. - If a player retires from the NFL, he may be released with no penalty. - If a player is considered active by the NFL but not on an NFL team's roster, he may be released with no penalty. - If a team cuts a player and re-signs him, the original penalty applies. 14. Just curious folks, looking to start a brand new dynasty league, but want something new and original (at least new and original to me ). I am in a few dynasty leagues, and I love the rule set, but, quite honestly, I am going nuts with the slow drag by of the inactive offseason, I wanna draft, I wanna trade, I wanna plan, I wanna manage my teams. Well, of my 3 other dynasty leagues, all with nearly the same rules, my teams are pretty much set the way they are going to be, and the majority of activities are done until the start of the season (couple of suplementary Free Agent drafts left to do, not nearly enough to keep me occupied ). Anyway, I want some dynamic dynasty league rules, I want creativity, I want something new. Please tell me in detail, salarys, cap hits and limits, etc., I want to know all of your leagues rules, or even some rules that you think would just be interesting and creative and would require immaculate team planning and management year in and year out. Thanks for all of the input my new friends at the Huddle. Also, if you want to join, email me for details eshop01@yahoo.com
