  1. good point on NE. taking it in a different direction: is Maroney the best running back not starting right now? other considerations: Chris Perry, D'angelo Williams, Jerious Norwood, Brandon Jacobs
  2. thats funny because I'm looking to buy low on Kevin Jones - he isn't considered an elite back but he sure puts up points like one. Mike Martz is a terrible head coach but he's one heck of an offensive coordinator and I would underestimate the potential Jones has in this system....
  3. the "start/bench list" makes a good point about Brown potentially taking a back seat now that Stallworth is back healthy. Coles had the bye week to get healthy and looked real good early in the season. However, the Jets passing game hasn't shown much lately and NE's defense has been very tough with the exception of facing the Colts last week. I think Brown has more upside as Philly's passing game should score a few times against WAS
  4. are you serious? I don't think this is that tough a call. unless Tatum Bell is ruled out for the game - Denver's RB situation is going to be unpredictable, could be a committee, might not be, hard to say. Frank Gore is going to get his no matter what.
  5. I'm a Broncos fan (ok primarily a Rams fan but I married into the Broncos and am forced to cheer for them every week). I wouldn't trust Jake Plummer to have a good game if he were playing a college team! I don't care if he does have 2 solid starts in a row. As one Broncos fan said it best (seen yelling it on national television after a horrible interception a few weeks ago) "YOU SUCK JAKE!!!" You know the track record of rookie QB's but Leinart isn't necessarily typical and more importantly he doesn't suck...
  6. Rivers numbers on the road may prove to be an anomaly as the stats are on a small sample size - he hasn't started that many games. However, I'm still not sure that McNair is the play here - Baltimore could dominate that game start to finish. They may not need to throw the ball at all in the second half.... I think the SD and Cincy game has a much better chance of being contested the whole way. Tomlinson has been unstoppable and the SD passing game has taken a back seat lately. Marvin Lewis is going to have a game plan and will certainly want to stop Tomlinson first and make Rivers beat him. Doesn't mean he necessarily can stop LT but I do think Rivers has a great opportunity to shine here.
  7. I agree you should look at shopping somewhere else - Brady is a good QB but you should be able to find another QB available that doesn't cost you so much. Package a spare part with Coles or Boldin if you have to - AJ, Colston, and Roy are all top 5 WR right now! If there is nothing else out there and you have to make a deal for Brady then I think you deal Colston (AJ and Roy have a longer track records)
  8. Palmer is reported to have some issues with his mechanics cause by his surgically repaired knee (Cincinnati Enquirer) so I think his upside is limited until he gets that ironed out. He also has one of the toughest schedules the rest of the way - although I think that given the receivers he has around him that the schedule isn't as meaningful as it would be for a less talented team. The Giants have been winning by taking care of the football and handing off to Tiki - and Eli's production has been hurting. Losing Toomer for the season won't help his cause either. This is a really tough call - I think I take Palmer due to the fact that his team might need to rely on him more the rest of the way.
  9. Assuming there are no keeper considerations and this is a head to head league this deal wouldn't be a great one for this year. This time of year I am usually looking alot at playoff matchups (14,15,16) when considering trades (Unless there is a first round bye I don't care how I finish the reg. season - as long as I'm in). Favre has outstanding matchups and Palmer has some tougher ones - does that mean that I'd rather have Favre? No - but I certainly wouldn't give up Portis for the upgrade! remember Ahman Green could go down at any time and Stephen Jackson plays the Chicago Bears in week 14.
  10. New England has an option on Dillon at 2.5 million - are they likely to pick that up? I'm not at all familiar with NFL player salaries or cap penalties - so I don't know if he is worth that kind of money (he is towards the end of his career) or if New England would incur a salary cap penalties for cutting him or declining his option? thanks in advance for the help, Joe
  11. What are some players that I should be targeting in trades after slow starts? I still like Roy Williams this year (despite his big mouth) and will be trying to steal him. I still think Plummer (laugh all you want) can be a serviceable #2 QB if you play the matchups right. Who else???
