  1. The Philly/Washington game last week resulted in the most painful FF loss I've ever seen or heard of. Unfortunately, I was the one that it happened to. I have McNabb playing and with 1:38 left in MNF, I'm winning my game by 0.03 pts. The Eagles get the ball, the Redskins have 1 timeout, so the game is over. I'm stoked because I think I've just won a FF game by 0.03 points. Before getting the ball back McNabb had 1 yard rushing. In my league, 1 rushing yard is worth 0.05 points. I sit in shock and disbelief as I watch McNabb take 3 consecutive knees and his 1 rushing yard disappear from the stat line. The end result - I lose by 0.02 points.
  2. It sucks when.... You enter the season thinking your team is stacked based on preseason rankings: #1 RB, #1 TE, #2 QB, and 2 top 10 WRs. That corps of players then proceed to score the lowest point total in your league during Week 1. In your other league you lose to the top scorer after scoring 2nd highest point total. Looks like 2008 is picking up right where 2007 left off...
  3. I think you're thinking about it the wrong way. Johnson is going mid 2nd round in the mocks I've seen. Holmes is going late third round. So if you're sold on Holmes, why not use your 2nd round pick on somebody else (instead of Johnson) and shoot for Holmes in the 3rd round? I don't think you're getting the best value if you grab Holmes in the 2nd round which is what you'd have to do if you picked Holmes instead of Johnson. But, it I had to choose between the two, I'd take Andre.
  4. Thanks. You guys pretty much reinforced what I was thinking. Cheers.
  5. Choices are S. Holmes or B. Marshall. Standard scoring, NO PPR I lose a 7th rd. pick for either, so that's not part of the equation. Most rankings have them within 4 or 5 of each other. Holmes' upside is I'll be able to use him Week 1. I've also had some feelers sent my way for possibly trading the rights to Marshall away. Cheers.
  6. yes...using the "search" feature of course
  7. I did the exact same thing...quite a few of the names on that original "list" aren't mentioned
  8. In our league, Total Points Scored is tiebreaker #1...followed by H2H....then I have no idea. With fractional points to 2 decimal places, I don't see us running into a problem in the future. Total points should definitely be the tiebreaker in your situation. It shows the team that scored the most points, week in a week out if you average it. IMO, that shows who the stronger team is much more than records w/in division since you can't really get your players "psyched up" for a divisional game...not to mention that you're not even in the same division. I assume that by using divisional records you're out of the picture? On another note, shouldn't you already have these rules in place? Of course right now people are going to want whatever is best for their team...
  9. I'll do my best to explain this, please tell me the proper way to handle this issue... Heading into this week, our playoff picture was set, except for the final spot. The parties involved in this situation are: Team A: Currently in 2nd place, secured playoff spot. After the thursday/sunday games, it's clear that a win this week will move him to 1st place, meaning he'll play #4 in the playoffs. A loss this week will have him finishing in 2nd place. Team B: Currently in 4th, if he wins this week, he's in the playoffs Team C: Needs a win and a Team B loss to make the playoffs Team D: Currently in 3rd. Playoff spot secured, no way to move up or down Team A is playing Team B this week Team C has already secured a victory (heading in to MNF) Heading in to MNF, Team B is up by 6 pts over Team A Team A has Drew Brees scheduled to play on MNF At the last hour, Team B decides that he doesn't want to play Brees tonight, he drops his #2 kicker and picks up Brees' backup in hopes that he won't play. Why? He wants to take the loss so he can play Team D in the first round of the playoffs. Team D got off to a hot start and is going to finish in 3rd place due to early and mid-season performace. His team now sucks due to injuries. If I was going into the playoffs, I'd want to play him as well. As a result, Team C is getting screwed. Had Team A stuck with Brees, he (Team C) would be in the playoffs as a result of the Team B loss. Since Team A decided to take the loss, Team B will make the playoffs. All this happened less than a half hour before kickoff, and I know that some people (especially Team C) are going to be pissed. Shady? yes. Fair? I think so....but I don't know. FWIW, our league rules state that a team must start a complete roster every week of active players (and non-byes) and that you are allowed to make roster moves up to five minutes before the kickoff of a given player/teams game...
  10. Sounds like the Subaru Forrester or Subaru Outback would work well for your situation... Good, relaible cars that sit a little higher than the typical sedan but aren't big SUVs. They drive similar to a smaller car but are big enough for a few grandkids and all their gear. You can get all the bells and whistles that you've mentioned, they're pretty safe, and are very versatile. If you have a subaru dealership in your area, go check them out. I've never been big on subarus, but my GF came with one and after driving that thing for a couple years, I've already decided that when I replace my acura, it'll be with a subaru.
  11. First, I need to do a little venting.....understandably, you could probably care less....so if you'd just like to be kind and answer my WDIS question, it's at the end of my post. This has been by far my most frustrating FF season ever. This is my league's 8th year. I've never missed the playoffs, won 3 titles, and have never ended a season w/o at least "winning" my entry fee back (3rd place). This year I'm in 9th place (out of 10) at 3-8. SJax and Andre missing a lot of time didn't help, but I've made some trades that helped me out, had some great WW pickups, and haven't made a "wrong" roster decision yet this year (thanks in large part to The Huddle). In fact, my team has performed well. I'm 4th in total points scored. The real killer, though, is the one thing I have no control over. My team has has more points "scored against" me than anyone in the league...by over 100 points - which is a lot in our watered down scoring system. We have a payout to the team with most points scored each week. The winner has played me 7 times this season. Of those 7, 6 of those teams have had their best week of the season against me. I've had my last 6 games come down to MNF and have won only 1 of them. I've lost 3 of those MNF-deciding weeks by a TOTAL of 3.24 points. To say the least, it sucks. End of rant. Thanks for listening.... Anyway, about the WDIS....I'm still playing for pride and a shot at the toilet bowl.... I need 2 of the following: Chad vs. TEN Driver @ DET Marshall @ CHI Hackett @ STL Bowe vs. OAK 1 pt per TWENTY (20) yds. rec 6 pt TDs NO PPR NO PPR NO PPR I figure Hackett's a good play...not sure about the rest. Cheers.
  12. I was thinking about this yesterday...this has been my worst year ever and I'll be glad when it's over 10 team redraft, 16 player rosters, 9 starters.... I currently have 6 players on my team that I drafted This week, I started 2 guys that I drafted thinking they'd be my starters.
  13. I think it's a good deal for you....don't know what the other guy is going to think, though. I can't see him going for it. Sucks the trade deadline is tonight....after the trade you'll be relying on one of you injured WRs to come back this week, which you won't know about until later in the week, although it sounds like Branch should play.
  14. Need some help picking my Flex (WR3)....thanks for all your help in the past weeks, BTW. NO PPR 6 pt. TDs 1 pt per 20 yds NO PPR S. Holmes @ NYJ Hackett vs. CHI Marshall vs. TEN Bowe @ IND Driver vs. CAR My other 2 are Moss and CJ, but I figure they're starters.... Cheers.
  15. I was going to add the same thing. Last year the Texans beat the Colts late, so crazy things can happen...
