  1. Agreed, but just one more decision that ultimately let to Luck - and the new direction Indy is headed.
  2. I play in 5 leagues and I would agree with the comment regarding not knowing who to root for. What this ends up doing is bringing you back to watching the game for the sake of watching the game. It also allows you to root for your home team again, because you don't spend the whole afternoon worrying excessively about how your players are doing. Now, I play only in keeper/Dynasty leagues and this also allows me by mid season to go about rooting for just the teams doing well (oh that it would be all 5 one year) - while I'm rebuilding the others toward next year. The real joy of owning many teams is the enjoyment you get leading up to the season and the fun in preparing the 6 days before Sunday. If you can separate Sunday into a fun day of watching the game - and use Monday morning to review your boxscores, then you can enjoy with multiple teams. John
  3. I haven't heard this anywhere, but If I were the Rams - knowing that Clausen has slipped and is a guarantee to start the second round - I would call Holmgren and offer him Bradford. Talk yesterday was that Holmgren was hot for Bradford and willing to give up most of his draft. They could get Haden and multiple picks for Bradford and still take Clausen with their Rd 2 to fill their QB need. If St. Louis likes Clausen they could rebuild their team with this draft. John
  4. Why wouldn't you bench him in this situation. This is the FF equivalant of kneeling down 3 x with 1:40 left to play and a 2 point lead. Don't "Pisarcik it" because "Ben won't get negative points" You never know. Kneel down and go to the locker room. John
  5. A couple of fact checks - in 1987 the Jets were 10-1 before losing there last 5 games. Not sure what the Todd Marinovich reference is about - perhaps you meant Rick Mirer. And last year they lost 4 of the last 5, after starting 8-3. Regardless, it's been a long and winding road for all Jets' fans. The prudent approach is to let the team mature and develop into the team we hope they can become. Building on a solid defense is the way to go and with Sanchez at the helm, hopefully he can improve weekly. He's played well, but has had some good fortune to avoid some disasters in the first two games that could have turned the momentum for both games. The offensive line hasn't been as strong as I expected - though two games is too soon to fully evaluate. This week against Tennesee will be a solid test. If the O-line improves upon last season the Jets will be tough to beat all season - even with a rookie QB. John
  6. I don't have ShowTime, but would love to see it. I suggest anyone with an interest in this to read "Going Long" by Jeff Miller (basically the full story of the AFL) or "America's Game" by Michael MacCambridge (the story of the NFL, with good input around the NFL-AFL merger). They are both great books and tell a great story. John
  7. I had Supercast on my PC while I had the Jets/Texans on the TV. It worked fine. Obviously, its a PC quality picture so you need to accept that, but the odd thing is that the feed from the Supercast on my PC was a few seconds AHEAD of that of my TV. So when the Supercast RedZone channel went to the Jets game they were ahead of my TV broadcast! I had to hit to minimize whenever RZ went to the Jets game or it be very distracting. John
  8. His physical talent warrants the 1 and 3, but the risk he would bring to a new team and the situation he has put the Broncos in will reduce that cost significantly. No on should pay near that for him. Also, getting so many high draft picks is too expensive for a team - they would end up trading some of them down by draft day, and my not get 100% value since others will know they cant't afford all those high picks. Also, as a Jets' fan I would not give up Harris (a good citizen and hard worker) for this malcontent. That would send a bad message in year one of a new regime. Hell, I'd chase after Matt Jones and deal with the inner demons he is fighting, rather than the attitude and lack of regard for his teammates that Marshall continues to display. John
  9. As I recall this was a SuperFan feature - so the friend would need to have the SuperFan upgrade of ST.
  10. Nothing is cheap in Manhattan, but that seems very overpriced. If what they are offering is what was provided to DirectTV ST subscribers the quality is not bad at all. However, the PC access is included in the ST deal (at least it was last year) and here they are asking you to fork over $350 for something satelite owners are getting for free as a throw in to a $250-$300 commitment. I wouldn't break the law myself, but if you could find a friend who had ST and doesn't use the PC feature you could ask him to give you the download and password info.
  11. Since this is the Raiders it could be that they submitted the wrong name to the NFL, intending to cut Oren O'Neal instead of LorenzO Neal. The coaches are pretty busy with all the fighting and what not.
  12. I don't disagree that Jones is still the clear #1 (if he is in camp) and will be for the year. However, if Jones is hurt Washington will benefit some, but Greene will benefit more. Washington needs to get the ball more than he did last year, but he is not an everydown back. Greene looks strong enough to handle the pounding of a #RB1. In the event of a Jones injury, Washington will split time and dominate passing downs. Greene would get the GL duty. John
  13. Maybe they can get Wesley Walker to come out of retirement - he did alright with only one eye.
