  1. Last week of the regular season in my primary 14 team league. Top 6 makes the playoffs, Top 2 gets a bye. As of today, only two teams have clinched the playoffs, and only one of those has clinched a bye. Teams 3 through 9 all have a legitimate chance of making the playoffs, and team 10 is not mathematically out, although he would have to both win and make up 90-100 points to win the total points tiebreaker. Fun league.
  2. Tough to count on DMac for any points until after this week, IMO. He's been out too long and there have been too many changes in Raidervania since he last saw action to really know what role he is going to play.
  3. Any more word on this? Latest reports seem to vaguely suggest he'll see fairly normal playing time.
  4. Wow, people on here are really way too sensitive about collusive trades. Not allowing the last place team to make fair trades or to improve his/her team sounds awful, in my opinion. I would obviously be a little more skeptical about obviously unbalanced looking trades coming from the last place team, but really people, what gives? Are you so worried about "getting hosed" or whatever that you are willing to veto perfectly fair trades and take away chances to compete? Last place team absolutely ought to be able to do what makes their team the best and compete for pride points.
  5. 4 receptions for 55 yards is not incredible, obviously, but that was against an outstanding pass defense with a new QB. If 55 yards is the floor and the ceiling is 75% of what he's been doing this year, I would think you need some really good options to plug in to justify benching him.
  6. Favre's worst seasons are probably better than Warner's worst, because he's never had serious competition for starting position and he's never missed a lot of time for injuries. Although I guess the season where Favre threw 29 picks competes. In many ways, Favre and Warner seem to be polar opposites in terms of career. Favre is an overrated quarterback because he's been consistently plugging along for so long, and has piled up gaudy career numbers doing so. Don't get me wrong, Favre is a HOFer for sure, but he is too erratic and throws far too many picks to be considered the greatest of all time. Warner, OTOH, is overrated because he has seen limited action in ideal situations, but has generally been brilliant in those circumstances.
  7. 14 team league. Draft position #9 is the record leader, #12 is the points leader. My guess is that if you did a large study, Portis owners would be the big first round winners across the board this year. He probably slipped low enough in R1 in a lot of leagues that owner could still grab a good RB2 on the turn.
  8. I absolutely think there is some logic to your arguments. But logical or not, HOF voters in all sports pay attention to hardware. Statistically, Aikman is not a HOFer, but winning 3 SBs made him a shoo-in. Bradshaw and Namath also had fairly mediocre stats, even for their eras. MVP may not be 1:1 comparable in terms of importance to Super Bowl trophies, but joining Favre as the only 3 time MVP makes him a lock in my opinion. He also has a good shot to finish with > 30,000 passing yards and > 200 TDs, which are not to shabby, and he has that incredible 300+ yard games stat. I think voters are likely to give him the benefit of the doubt for years he wasn't "given a chance," and he only has one bad year where he was given a legit shot at starting, the injury-shortened 2002 season. I also think it's a bit disingenuous to say he has only had 3 good seasons -- 2000 and 2007 were also both decent years statistically and 2004-2005 were not awful despite limited duty. I think all of this outweighs the negatives of being in great situations and having a limited number of HOF quality years.
  9. QBs who have proven they can start capably without melting down are a very valuable commodity in the NFL. Cassel will easily get money to start somewhere, more money than the Pats would be willing to tie up on an eventual backup. It may be that he fails outside of the favorable system/personnel in NE, but I would be very surprised if he doesn't get a few flyers.
  10. Just like the title says. Need to pick two of these for flex spots. QB is Manning, so I'm leaning towards Gonzalez for one of the spots.
  11. I agree with this. The other two things I like about a H2H league: 1. It rewards consistency. In a total points league, I think you are disproportionately rewarded by freak occurrences -- if a QB goes wild and throws for 5 touchdowns and 400+ yards, that gives you too much of an advantage for the entire season in points and insulates you from future bad performances, whereas in H2H you are rewarded in your likely win that week but you still have to have a quarterback who doesn't put up stinkers the rest of the season. 2. It increases competitiveness. You can talk smack to whomever you are playing in any given week.
  12. Yes, I read that part. It's another example of poor league management. But since this rule has been enforced previously, I don't think there's any dispute that it is in fact a rule, carelessly/intentionally omitted from the written rules or not. Look, I don't think there's a great solution to this avoidable problem. But I would still tend to err on the side of enforcing a rule that has been consistently enforced against other teams. I would also vote to either strip the commissioner of his position next year or else find another league.
  13. I need Arnaz Battle to not miraculously return from injury and score 50 points
  14. As a MM owner, I strongly urge Willie not to rush back from all these injuries . . . gotta make sure you're 100%, be conservative and think about the future of your career Fast Willie!
  15. Bottom line is if the league wants to prohibit incomplete lineups, then it should institute a fine for incomplete lineups. I don't really get this misplaced sense of honor that people seem to believe dictates that somebody is morally obligated to waste five bucks on something almost worthless that provides him with little to no benefits.
