  1. I have no problem with talking smack and I can certainly dish it out as well as take it, but acting like an obnoxious ass when answering a relatively simple question seems pretty damn ignorant to me. For instance, the guy asked which was better CBS or MFL then mentioned that his league uses a unique rule and which site would handle it better. Rather then just answer the question, some posters felt it was necessary to tell him the rule was gay, stupid, dumb etc etc etc. The guy didn't ask for people's opinion about the rule. He asked which site would handle it better. It just seems to me that if you don't have the mental capability to answer the question in a dignified and respectful manner, then maybe it might be better to keep your assinine thoughts to yourself.
  2. Henry, To answer your question, MFL.com is the best site out there. As others have said, you can customize it anyway you want it to be. The one thing I would suggest you do though, if you go with them, is to NOT use a Template for your league. Use one of the 50 or so Skins they have for your main page. This way, your owners can set their own page up however they want it to be. If you use a Template, the owners won't be able to do anything with it. I ran 8 leagues on MFL last year and am running 6 this year. My owners MUCH prefer being able to set it up their way. Just something to think about. As for your rule about the home team being able to use an extra player, don't worry about what these others say about it. As long as the owners in YOUR league like it, that's all that counts. To set it so that your league can do that, all you have to do is set the number of players at each position for one more. Depending on what position those teams can use. If your lineup is say 1 QB, 2 RB's, 3 WR's, 1 TE, 1 K and 1 Def for instance, and if they can only use 1 extra RB or WR, then just set the RB # at 3 and the WR at 4. Then make sure that each team knows only the home team can use this extra position. There, you're good to go. BTW To everyone else, just a thought, but if you act like asses to every new poster, eventually you're going to be talking to yourself because nobody else will want to come onto this site. Just something to think about.
  3. Thanks for the reply Capt. At this point in time, the only way I won't be taking 2 QB's with my 1st and 2nd round picks, is if one of the top RB's I mentioned above falls to me. I highly doubt that will happen, but one can hope. I realize that taking 2 mid-level QB's over a top tier WR or top 15 RB probably seems silly, but I know the other owners in the league well enough to know that there won't be much of anything left over when I pick again at the 3.12. So I'm going to get what I can while I can. Besides, with a #1 RB like Forte, a #1 WR like Andre Johnson and a top 5 to 8 TE like Daniels, I think I can still put together a pretty good team by waiting until my 3.12/4.01 picks to get running mates for them. Especially if as many QB's as I'm hoping go off the board in the first 2+ rounds.
  4. Obviously you missed the whole point of my message or at least the last part of my message. Yes, it is important to have a very good QB behind center, but if the Lions don't address their many needs along the o-line and especially that horrible defense, then even the best QB will only make them okay at best. So why not fix some of those problems, with the idea of having a solid team or a very good team, minus a top quality QB, ready for a top quality QB to come in and take the reigns of? Sure, they can draft Stafford, put him in that offense, behind that line, and hope to God he doesn't get broken up into tiny little pieces by all the defensive linemen who will be going through that line like it's a bar room doors. Or even worse, do this then have him fall apart and never reach his potential because he gets shell shocked due to having to run for his life all the time. We've all seen it numerous times where a QB gets drafted high, goes to a team that starts him right away, then watched as he self destructed because of all the pressure and because of the beatings he took week in and week out. So my point was, build the new stud rookie QB a top quality team, THEN hand the reigns over to him. Just something to think about.
  5. Why would anyone give Hackett a shot? He's been in the league for 4 years now and yeah, he's a couple of good games, but for the most part, he's done nothing his entire career that would make him any better then a #4 or #5 on any NFL team. Although, he might do better then that on a couple of teams, but that's only because the WR's on those teams suck. lol As another poster commented, Hackett's main problem is he can't stay healthy. If you can't show the team you're on that you can stay healthy and contribute, you're not going to have a job in the NFL for very long. Since he can't do that, I'll be very surprised if he makes any NFL team this season. Sorry, but it's true.
  6. Because I was talking on another site about what the Broncos should do with the #12 and #18 picks and when I started responding about the Lions, I just had that #18 stuck in my head. Either way, as I said in my message, IF Freeman were to make it past the Jets, then the Lions could draft him with that #20 pick or just let him go on past and hope that nobody drafts him and he makes it back to the their next pick. He probably wouldn't, but you never know. Then again, they could just use those picks, the #1, #20 and their 2nd round pick to address other needs then wait until next year to draft their QB of the future. Because quite frankly, until they get both lines and their defense fixed, it really won't matter whose at QB.
  7. If the Lions were smart, and maybe they will be now that Mr. Idiot is done screwing up the team, they'll take Jason Smith with the 1.01 pick, either take Josh Freeman with the #18 pick, provided he makes it past the Jets, or maybe take a WR like Harvin or Heyward-Bey with the #18 pick then hope Freeman makes it back to them with the 2.01 pick. This way, they get a top level OT, a very good young WR to pair with Calvin Johnson, and a QB they can groom for a year then turn over the reigns to him next year. I don't really see Oher making it past the Redskins unless they do something crazy, but you never know. Anyway, just another thought.
  8. Okay, another question for you. How would you feel about a FF league where you play H2H games each week of the season, but only the 6 highest scoring teams make the playoffs, regardless of W/L record? Just curious.
  9. Hey, as far as I'm concerned, at this time of the year, talking about ANYTHING that has to do with FF, is far more fun then doing any kind of work. LOL
  10. Okay, I tried to add some more food for thought, but for some reason, after I typed it, it didn't show up. lol After we agreed that we disagreed about which one was the better indicator, we moved on to whether or not the 6 best teams in the league were making the playoffs. His contention was that as long as the 6 teams with the best records made the playoffs, then yes, the 6 BEST teams were in the playoffs. Obviously I disagreed with that. lol So I did a little study involving 10 of my leagues from last year. Basically, I looked at which 6 teams scored the most points and how many of those teams actually made the playoffs. I also took it one step further, to prove a point, and looked at what the record was for the high scoring teams that did not make the playoffs. Here's what I found. League # 1 - The #1 (6-7) and #5 (6-7) highest scoring teams did not make the playoffs. League # 2 - The #5 (6-7) and #6 (9-4) highest scoring teams did not make the playoffs. League # 3 - The #3 (7-6) highest scoring team did not make the playoffs. League # 4 - The #4 (7-6) and #6 (6-7) highest scoring teams did not make the playoffs. League # 5 - The #5 (5-8) highest scoring teams did not make the playoffs. League # 6 - The #5 (5-8) and #6 (6-7) highest scoring teams did not make the playoffs. League # 7 - The #4 (6-7) and #5 (5-8) highest scoring teams did not make the playoffs. League # 8 - The #2 (6-7) and #6 (6-7) highest scoring teams did not make the playoffs. League # 9 - The #5 (6-7) and #6 (6-7) highest scoring teams did not make the playoffs. League # 10 - The #3 (7-6) and #5 (5-8) highest scoring teams did not make the playoffs. What did this tell me, that, as far as I was concerned, the 6 BEST teams were not making the playoffs. Thoughts on this??? Thanks.
  11. Okay Folks, A friend of mine and I were having a discussion last night about what's a better indicator of the overall quality of a FF team. Namely: A ) Is it the W/L record they end up with at the end of the regular season? or B ) How many total points their starters have scored during the course of the regular season? You see, we were discussing one of the leagues we're in together last year and I was saying that my team was better then his because my team outscored his by almost 150 pts. He was saying that his team was better then mine because he had a better record then I did. He was 9-4 and made the playoffs while I was 7-6 and did not. Now, while this does have to with the players on both teams, I'm more interested in discussing which indicator tells the real tale about a FF team. Now, obviously, if you believe in the record tells the tale, then he had the better team, but if you go by the fact that my team outscored his team for the whole season, then my team was the better team. So tell me guys, which one do you think is the better indicator. While I'd like for as many people as possible to vote in the poll, some actual responses about this would really be appreciated as well. Thanks. PS. I do want to note that we're both of the same opinion that the only really good teams we each had, were the ones that won the league championship. Because, after all, that's the only real indicator of how good your FF season was. IF you won the league, your team was great. If you didn't, your team sucked. LMAO No offense intended of course.
  12. Just to give you some insight into the QB's being kept, here is a list of them: 1) P. Manning 2) T. Romo *3 (pick # 1.05) 3) P. Rivers 4) M. Schaub *2 (pick # 1.06 & 1.13) (Pick # 1.13 falls between my 1.12 & 2.01) 5) M. Ryan *1 (pick # 1.04) 6) K. Orton *1 7) M. Bulger 8) J. Delhomme 9) S. Rosenfels *2 10) C. Pennington *3 11) B. Quinn Quinn is the only one that I am not fairly sure will be an opening day starter. So that's 10 possible starting QB's down. I put the *1, *2 & *3 next to the teams that are keeping 2 QB's. I've also put their pick numbers in the first round. So as you can see, the 3 that kept 2 QB's, will be picking in the first 6 picks. I fully expect all 3 to take a RB with those picks. That's why I think that at least some of the better QB's will make it back to me. Although, knowing the guy who is picking with the 1.06 pick, he might very well take a QB anyway. lol Anyway, maybe this will give you some other insights into the league and our draft. BTW I am giving some serious thought to doing as you said about the 2 WR's. Unless, of course a stud RB previously mentiones falls to me.
  13. Now you see why I'm asking. LOL I do apologize, I thought I had put the PPR information in there. Okay, the WR's get 1 pt for every 2 receptions and the RB's get 1 pt for every 6 receptions. RB's also get 1 pt for every 10 rush attempts. BTW I guess what I'm asking is, in what order would you put the QB's I listed? Believe me, I know that from a scoring standpoint, it would make a lot more sense to take the 2 best players with those picks, but knowing the other owners in this league, if I wait to take one or two QB's with my next picks, I'm probably going to be choosing from S. Hill (49ers), Culpepper, J. Russell or McCown from the bucs. I don't know about you, but going into the season having to start 2 of those QB's, is not a thrilling proposition. lol This is why I'm planning on taking at least 1 QB if not 2.
  14. Hey Guys, I'm in a 12 team, 20 player roster small keeper league and now that we've had our cut down day, I'm in the process of trying to figure out who I should draft with my 1.12 & 2.01 picks. In this league, we each get to keep 4 players. 1 Each from rounds 1-5, 6-10, 11-16 & 17-20. My keepers ended up being, Andre Johnson (1-5), J. Cotchery (6-10), Owen Daniels (11-16) Matt Forte (17-20) Starting lineups are 2 QB's, 1-2 RB's, 3-4 WR's, 1 TE, 1 K and 1 Def. With having to start 2 QB's, they are at a premium in this league. 11 QB's were kept this year. Obviously none by me. So, considering I won't pick again until the 3.12 pick, I'm giving very serious thought to picking 2 QB's with those picks. Unless, a stud RB falls to me. Of which, the only ones I would even consider are ADP, Michael Turner, or Westbrook. I am fully expecting at least 7-9 QB's to be picked in the first round. Last year, we had 8 QB's drafted in the first round and 13 drafted in the first 2 rounds. So, as you can see, people pick QB's early and often in this league. BTW The draft will start on Saturday, April 25th. Anyway, here are the top 10 QB's that are available. I highly doubt the first 5 or 6 will make it back to me, but you never know. 1) Brees 2) Brady 3) Warner 4) Rodgers 5) Cutler 6) McNabb 7) Cassel 8) Big Ben 9) David Garrard 10) Carson Palmer Other notable mentions are, Eli Manning, Jason Campbell, Trent Edwards, Matt Hasslebeck, and Joe Flacco. I probably wouldn't pick any of them over 2 of the others, but I wanted to mention them. Anyway, since, like I said, I'm almost positive that the first 5-8 will definitely be picked in the first round, in what order would you put the QB's listed above in starting at say # 7 and adding in the other notable mentions? BTW I could also take a big chance and take a quality RB like Portis, F. Gore, B. Jacobs or T. Jones with one of those picks. Or even take a RB and a stud WR like R. Moss, R. Wayne, Calvin Johnson, Greg Jennings, or Marques Colston with those picks. The chance would come into play with me hoping that there is at least one or 2 decent level starting QB's left when I pick at 3.12 & 4.01. So anyway, what do you guys think I should do?? I already have a good idea of what I'm going to do, but some other thoughts are always helpful and appreciated.
  15. Well, he has the 1.12 & 2.01 picks in the draft. So I'm not sure how much what would really help. Although, if I got Colston and the 1.12 for R. Moss and the 2.05, that would at least move me up 6 spots in the draft. Then I'd have 3 in the top 14. lol Thanks again for all of the input. Fortunately I have until June 30th to make a decision.
