  1. We tried the software a couple years back, and didn't enjoy it at all. It was easy to set up, and we did have a projection on the wall, which was nice, but it just didn't have the same feeling of walking up to the big board and putting on the sticker of your new fantasy stud (or dud). The cost of the board works out to about $5 a team, so if you haven't used one yet, I suggest you DEFINITELY try it out. The colour coded stickers (by player position), make it really easy to track every owner's picks and needs. To clarify about our league's draft day setup, the bottom 3 teams pay for the food at the draft, and we do a draft lottery so the team that finishes 10th, has more chances at picking #1 than the 11th or 12th place teams. Buying the food keeps teams from totally tanking to get that top spot, and by having a weighted lottery, it pretty much guarantees teams won't lose on purpose for a better shot next year. Go buy a board! We've used FJ Fantasy every year, and their customer service is top notch.
  2. We use the boards from fjfantasysports.com every year, and we love them. Theyre also easy to store and we break the old ones out every year and laugh at all the horrible picks from years past. This year we are switching to an auction format, so we will be trying out the new boards from FJ as well. Every year, the bottom 3 teams pay for all the food at the draft, so we usually go to a bar (with a private room), have our draft, and enjoy free food (unless youre one of the losers). Its Christmas in August every year!
  3. I still can't believe we got rid him. Go Lions! We'll take Boldin.
  4. Im sure the Lions wouldnt mind dropping down 1 spot for a RB. TB does have 3 of them, and Kevin Smith won't be ready for the start of the season. At #3, they could grab Okung.
  5. So you have any ideas on how to make the switch from one league to the next?
  6. We might be using a hybrid of 2 styles of draft. 1st 3 rounds every year, serpentine style with picks. Remaining rounds auction style. This gives teams a chance to still deal picks. Draft picks would have a salary cap value, so teams that acquire more picks would have more cap room, whereas teams that deal picks, would have a smaller cap. Anyone see any potential problems with this system???
  7. Im one of the guys sitting pretty. We've discussed running a 2nd league, but there has to be one solution that can work for everyone. Would running a normal draft for the 1st 3 rounds, then auctioning off the rest be a disaster? That way those teams with extra picks would get the good players, while those who traded away wouldn't. Only problem may be the extremely top heavy salary for those teams with extra picks. Could do an inflated salary for the first year though. Or is it possible to create a league that does 3 rounds of normal draft every year? That would incorporate both picks and auction. Still giving teams opportunity to trade picks. Anyone else have an opinion on this?
  8. My 5 year league is entertaining the thought of changing from a draft pick/keeper league, to an auction/salary cap league. The problem is with the teams that basically traded this season for extra picks for next year. Its a pretty hefty entry fee, so were all looking for a fair way to make the switch. If we wait until the 2011 season though, then the 2010 season will be a dud, because there will be no draft picks traded. Also, teams that are missing picks for next year, won't be able to improve their teams for the following season either. So basically, teams with extra picks in 2010 get screwed if we do an auction. And teams missing picks get screwed, because unless they have a stellar draft, their 2010 season will be screwed. I'm toying with the idea of having the 1st 3 rounds draft style (using pre-determined auction values), with the remainder of the draft an auction style. Confusing? Has anyone made the switch before? Please help!!! ANY outside point of view would be a tremendous help!
  9. Seems like the portly Lord O'Pie, Isn't happy until he has his coffee and a piece of pie.
  10. I have to agree with the majority. Thomas and Colston. Especially with Bush in the doghouse (not that he did much anyways).
  11. I'm toying with the idea of switching from a keeper league, to an auction/salary cap league. My dilemma is what to do with those teams that sold the farm this season, to acquire extra picks and/or good keepers for next season. I thought of maybe giving those teams with extra picks a higher salary for next year. Not sure if that's really fair though. Has anyone gone through this before?? Anyone have any advice? I heard that auction/salary leagues are the way to go, and I'm very excited to give it a shot.
  12. 797...when I win, you can donate the DVD to your local library. My own week 7 predicition...the Lions will not lose this week!
  13. Any help would be tremendously appreciated! I really have no idea what to do.
