Help I always start the wrong guys
kevinmroberts replied to ltrainpr's topic in Fantasy Football Advice
Constanza yourself. No truer words have ever been spoken. But really, how can anyone expect to get speedy, sound advice when they ask the DAY of the games? -
You don't even need Thomas. You're stacked at RB. What you need is another stud WR. MSW and Austin are solid, but too many weeks will you get the one catch by Austin like on Sunday Night, or the two catches by MSW two weeks ago. Package a couple of your lesser backs for a stud WR. However if you're hell bent on getting another elite back, go for it, as you totally win with this trade. But you're stock-piling on RB's, and like someone else said, will be stressing over match-ups the rest of the way. Good luck.

Let the debate begin Favre or Brady
kevinmroberts replied to Henry Muto's topic in Fantasy Football Advice
Every week people feed this "jump out to a big lead, QB won't be needed" crap. How do teams jump out to big leads? In Minnesota's case, it will likely be at least partially because of Favre. And if I'm not mistaken, the last time these teams faced, the Lions were up 10-0 early, and Favre had to rally the Vikes back. The Colts kept Matt Schaub from dominating them, and that was without Bob Sanders and Marlin Jackson. Can they rattle Brady, as well? Too hard to predict. But I think it's more likely that Favre torches the Lions than Brady torches the Colts. Indy has allowed 300+ yards just twice all season (Warner and Scaub), and has allowed two passing touchdowns ONCE all season, and one or less in every other game. That's pretty impressive. The Lions give up yards and touchdowns to the QB, and Favre is way more comfortable with his offensive weapons than he was in week three @ Detroit. He's at home and riding high off of sweeping the Pack. Expect a solid game. Ride Favre's hot hand. -
I don't see why you would want this trade. Your quarterbacks are average, so Favre would be an upgrade (right now), but even as awesome as he's been, there's still the chance he fades down the stretch, or that MN goes to a run-first approach again against these lesser teams at home the next three weeks. Manning was decent this week, and Ryan still has potential with a solid supporting cast. You running backs are strong, so I don't see the need to add anything there, and while D Jax is definitely hit or miss, TJ Housh isn't anything special. Sure, he scored this week, but how long did that take? And Seattle won't be playing the Lions every week. I'm not against you getting Favre, but LT isn't playing at an elite level anymore, and Housh just isn't worth giving that much away in a package deal. I say stand pat, or at least work on a counter. This trade just doesn't work for your team.

I don't love MSW, but his matchup is good. Mason is facing a tough pass defense, and Moss is too inconsistent for my liking. Gotta love Collie's value this week with a hampered (or out) Garcon, and likely in a shootout. Collie and MSW is my vote.

Please help me choose one of these to start
kevinmroberts replied to bigmike4969's topic in Fantasy Football Advice
Moss is too inconsistent and has an inept QB. S Smith has been average for weeks (Manning stinks), and hes facing the 6th ranked pass defense. So for me it's LT vs Housh. Housh has a good matchup and in PPR leagues should at least be considered, but LT is coming off of a solid game, is "the guy" in SD, and the Giants defense has been shaky in the past three games. Gotta go LT, as he gives you more ways to score, and looks like he's getting better. -
I'm with the majority here. Boldin is supposed to play, and his worst effort will likely out-due Knox's. AZ does have a weak pass defense, but it's not like Knox has been killing lately. All reports I've read suggest Boldin should play, and that he's looking good in practice. And drop Gage. That is some serious wishful thinking buddy.

Sit/Start.....pick on please.....
kevinmroberts replied to FlatAir2's topic in Fantasy Football Advice
I like Crabtree a lot this week, but if you get PPR AND return points, this is a no-brained. Sproles is my pick. -
Start Flacco or Schuabb this week?
kevinmroberts replied to supadupafly87's topic in Fantasy Football Advice
I had previously voted to bench Schaub, but now that both Bob Sanders and Marlin Jackson are out for the season, I've changed my mind. Kelvin Hayden is also questionable. The Colts 7th ranked pass D is suddenly looking very bland, so you gotta go with Schaub. -
Yes, it's just 2/3. What's your reasoning? I was leaning that way the whole time, but what's your reasoning for sitting Portis and not Benson? Thanks.
-
May I ask why Gage is on your team? Haha. You better have 20 teams in your league... But really, your line-up looks perfect with what you've got, and you are in a really good spot with Ray Rice and MJD as your starters. Both awesome backs. Manning hasn't been playing well and is facing the 6th ranked pass defense, so do the math. The Giants will run all day, as SD is ranked 27th against the rush. Also, Carson Palmer threw 5 TD last game he played, and the Ravens aren't an elite pass D. They looked sharp last week, but have been pretty crappy in every game leading up to that one. Go with Palmer and stick with what you have, and you have a good chance.
-
That's the tricky thing about this Panthers/Saints game. The Carolina running game has been good lately, and the Saints don't have Sedrick Ellis AND just got gashed by Michael Turner for 151 yards. But do you really think the Panthers will hang around long enough to be able to run all day? I just don't see it. There's definitely a decent argument for Stewart, but even in non PPR leagues, you probably have to go with Ward. You know he'll get targeted in a big game, and aside from the Minnesota game, he's really been money all season. I gotta say Ward here.
-
Gotta go Hasselbeck. He's played well against weak defenses, and Detroit has given up 18 TD to QB this year. Besides, you don't want to play McNabb against a possibly tough Dallas D and see him play like he did against Oakland, do you? I'm sure both will be OK, but I'd be cautious and play the match-up this week.

You're losing this trade as it stands. Heath Miller is fine and all, but that's a huge downgrade from A Gates to him. And it's not like Clinton Portis is trash. He still gets yardage, and is still the top back on the Skins. Marshall is way too good to just be a "throw in" player, either. Throw in Crabtree or someone else. Marshall is too valuable for that. I like the attempt to aggressively pursue Turner, but this is a very lopsided trade, where you're losing some real value for one player. Getting rid of Portis for someone better is a great move, but I'd try getting one of those guys (Gates/Marsh) out of that trade and see if you can't pull it off with Miller or Crabtree.

Thomas Jones for NYG's Steve Smith
kevinmroberts replied to JimmyKerrigan's topic in Fantasy Football Advice
First of all, I don't think your receivers are "trash". Jackson has huge potential every single week, and as long as Boldin is healthy, he's a WR2. Berrian is a decent WR3, too, but yes, if you add Simith, you would vastly improve your WR corps. Is he all you're aiming for, though? TJ is the lead back on a team with a rookie QB. They'll run him into the ground all season, so you can't trade him straight-up for one WR. He's too valuable. Try trading him for two solid receivers, and see where that puts you, otherwise, don't do it. Smith is good and all, but I'd rather have Jackson or Boldin as a keeper, anyways at WR. Jones could help you win THIS year.
