  1. In first place but lost Romo and Charles to INJURY and Antonio Brown has Vick for another week or two. Dont want to start dropping. I currently have Palmer as my QB. Would you make this trade?
  2. Would like to give a collective pimp slap to everyone who made a Favre thread today... No really...I think I went cross-eyed when the forum loaded. On the subject of Favre tho, I think he came back for two reasons, to win a championship, and like he said re-establish his legacy. He didn't win a ring but he had arguably his best season of his storied career, and if it's his last, it's a good one to go out on. /salute Now please go home, talk it over with the family, and announce your final retirement in the next week and don't come back, don't think about coming back, don't put feelers out there once OTA's hit, just leave it be and we'll see you at your induction speech, (which should be interesting.)
  3. Like I said, I don't like seeing the same teams running themselves into the ground every year, I think it's bad for the NFL. I'd like to see the Raiders return to respectability, just don't think it's gonna happen for a while...
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. I actually spent some time on this last night, boredom will do that to ya. As for Anthony Davis goin' too high, I don't think he'd drop passed KC or Oakland, do you? Washington is a reach, but I just felt it was a bigger need than QB in that spot, and Shanahan knows you've gotta build that good OL to work the run and be successfull. I've heard hints that Chris Samuels may retire. As for Oakland taking Bradford there, I agree that it's highly unlikely, I guess with my mock I wanted to mix a bit of they should, rather than they will. If Davis fell to them I could possibly see them taking him, or Rolando McClain if Kirk Morrison isn't with the team next year. Or someone I'm not thinking about that runs a 4.3...As a football fan, I just really don't get any enjoyment out of perennially BAD franchises, and if they go Russell again this coming season we all know what the results will be. If the Jaguars were smart, they would roll the dice and take someone else with their first pick and work out a trade to move back up with their second, like Cleveland did a couple years back with Thomas and Quinn. I could actually see that happening. I guess as we get closer to the draft it'll be easier to guage team's opinion on Tebow, moreso than now. As for Miami, I guess I should've weighed the Parcells effect a little higher. If McClain is gone Kindle probably is the likeliest choice. I think my thought process turned to best player available and that Bryant is becoming a steal at this point in the draft. Maybe they might wanna work a trade for...I dunno...Roy Williams Dal WR? ETA: As for Clausen being an unpopular pick, I agree it probably would be. I live in Portland, (Born and raised in Texas before anyone calls me out for being a Cowboys fan,) so all we hear is Seahawks talk, and everyone's on the Hassellbeck fan club. But bottom line is he's in his mid thirties, can't stay healthy, and you've gotta replace him at some point. Ideally Hassellbeck would play this year and let the incumbent learn. Clausen is an NFL ready prospect, and Carroll has seen him up close and personal several times in college.
  5. St. Louis (1-15) DT Ndamukong Suh. The Rams have a lot of holes, and trading down and accumulating more picks would be ideal, but we haven't seen teams be able to trade down very successfully in recent times. Barring trading out of the pick, and working under the assumption that they pick up a QB through a trade (Vick,) or free agency, the obvious choice here is DT Ndamukong Suh. There is a small chance they could pick a QB here, but I don't think the QB's in this draft justify the cost of the contract that comes with the number 1 pick. Detroit (2-14) OT Russell Okung The Lions have needs on the defensive, and offensive lines, as well the secondary. After drafting their "franchise quarterback" last year, and watching him get bruised, battered, and knocked out, they will look to remedy the situation by drafting the best offensive lineman in the draft, left tackle Russell Okung. The move would allow the Lions to potentially move Jeff Backus to guard where he could be more serviceable. Gerald McCoy is an option here, but protecting Stafford is a bigger priority. Tampa Bay (3-13) DT Gerald McCoy The Buccaneers pick here is pretty automatic if McCoy drops to them. Washington (4-12) OT Anthony Davis Shanahan may look to draft his own QB to build his team around, but with big concerns on the offensive line, Washington will reach a bit here for Davis, because of the dropoff on OL in the draft after the top two, and because Chris Samuels may be gone due to injuries. Campbell played well enough last season to earn one more chance to show what he can do. If they took a a QB I wouldn't be shocked though, and if they did Clausen would be the pick here. Kansas City (4-12) S Eric Berry The Chiefs would love Okung or Davis here, but if both are gone their choices would be between Eric Berry and Dez Bryant. The Chiefs need to add a playmaker in the passing game opposite of Bowe, but getting Berry here is a huge upgrade over what they have. Seattle (5-11) QB Jimmy Clausen Pete Carroll has been on record as saying he believes in Hasselbeck, but you can't dispute his durability issues over the past couple of seasons. He can still be a good QB in this league, but you need to get your franchise QB waiting in the wings, for when, not if, he goes down again. A lot of people have Bradford going here, but Clausen has a better arm, played in a pro-style offense and doesn't have a history of not being durable. Clausen hopefully gets a year to sit and watch behind Hasselbeck. OL is another need, but like KC, with both top OT's gone, they have to go a different direction. Cleveland (5-11) CB Joe Haden Decision hasn't been made on the QB situation by Mike Holmgren, but my gut says Quinn gets a shot next year to be the guy. Even if he's not, Clausen is off of the board already, and I don't think they take Bradford here. So they take the far and away best CB in the draft, Joe Haden. Pairing him with Wright would give them a good set of young corners. Oakland (5-11) QB Sam Bradford Al Davis. What more is there to say? This pick could be damn near anyone. As crazy as Davis is, I don't see them taking another reciever with a top pick. JaMarcus Russell is obviously not the guy, but Davis seems to be infatuated with him. Still, I think with Bradford still sitting there, it would be the pick. you gotta cut your losses with Russell and move on. Is it likely? Probably not, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut on occassion. Buffalo (6-10) OT Bryan Bulaga After the Bills get taken off of suicide watch for barely missing out on Bradford, they turn to solidifying their LT position with the sold tackle out of Iowa. If Owens isn't there on the team, they could go reciever here since Bryant is still on the board. Denver - from Chicago^ (7-9) ILB Rolando McClain A lot depends on whether Marshall is back next season, but I think he will be. With that said, I think McClain will be a very good LB in the league, and it immediately upgrades that position for the Broncos. Jacksonville^ (7-9) QB Tim Tebow I'm with those that say this would be an incredible reach and risk, but I think the Jacksonville Jaguars have to do something drastic to get the organization moving in the right direction. They will take the upside, potential, and popularity of Tebow and cross their fingers, say their prayers, take their vitamins and hope that Tebow is what he says he is. Ultimately, Tebow wouldn't be on the board when it came back to their pick again, so they take him here. Miami (7-9) WR Dez Bryant Miami gives their QB another weapon to stretch the field. Bryant drops down a bit due to missing most of his college season due to off the field issues. Bryant is a steal at this spot in the draft. Fire away! First time trying a mock.
  6. Even with Dez Bryant and Benn available to you with first pick?
  7. Or Steelers v. Cowboys in Super Bowl, since it's in Dallas next year. Think that's what he meant.
  8. That's probably as bad as it gets. In terms of deflating the fanbase, and the players on that team. I think the Bills season is ruined before it's even started this coming year. There honestly had to be a different direction they could've went, even if it meant dragging the search out a bit longer. If I were a Bills fan, I think I'd rather have an unproven college coach with potential than a proven loser, even if it wasn't a big big name.
  9. Don't believe in Matt Moore?
  10. For followers of the 28 teams that are looking toward next year already, is it too early to talk draft? For me draft day is probably only second behind the super bowl as my favorite day of the football year. I know discussion won't start to heat up till around the combine but I'm curious what you guys would like to see your team do in the draft this year. Being a Cowboys fan, and seeing what I saw on Sunday, I'd obviously like to see us target an OT in the first, or second round of the draft this year. We'd have to trade up quite a ways to get Okung, so that leaves us with the choice of Anthony Davis, Bruce Campbell, and Ciron Black. Davis may be gone before our pick, and from what I've read up on Black he projects more as a RT at the pro level so I guess I'll go with conventional wisdom and say we take Bruce Campbell. He's a bit of a project, as he only started at Maryland for a season and a half, but he can sit behind Flozell for a season or two and hopefully be ready when Adams calls it a career. Not a flashy pick, but gotta invest in the long term, and gotta protect Romo. If there was any way to cut bait with Roy Williams, I'd say do it. Unfortunately, while I don't know the details, I'm sure it'd be costly to waive him, and I can't see ANY team trading for him after the way he underperformed this year. But regardless, unless something unexpected happens next year, I don't see him being a quality reciever for us, even as a number 2 behind Austin. I'd like to see us target a reciever in the second round. Dez Bryant will be gone, and Arelious Benn most likely will be too. If Benn fell to the 2nd round I wouldn't mind seeing us try to trade up for him, as long as the cost wasn't an arm and a leg. Personally, although he's undersized, I'm a big fan of Golden Tate out of Notre Dame. To me he's just a playmaker, and could do things from all over the field, lined up out wide, or coming out of the backfield. And he has phenomenal hands, which I think Romo could really benefit from. Any thoughts about the recievers that weren't mentioned? In the 3rd, I'd like to see us grab a safety. Reshad Jones would be great here, but may be gone. If not him then maybe Deunta Williams? What would you guys like to see?

    Tony Romo

I stand corrected. Even better news. The future is bright.

Ah hey, I'll take it. Thanks Big John.

Still took Manning 9 years to get there and win it, and they were good for a long time. Didn't he inherit a 3-13 team and the next year went 13-3? Or am I wrong? It wouldnt be the first time ETA: I'm not comparing Romo to Manning, only that not winning a championship in the early stages of your career doesn't mean you won't, or can't.
  14. This year the AFC was crazy, but for a long time 8-8 or 9-7 could get you in the Wild Card in the NFC. I could see the Niners being 8-8 or 9-7 potentially. Play the Hawks twice, that's 2 wins, play the Rams, most likely 2 wins depending on what moves the Rams make in the offseason. That's 4 wins right there. Even if you go 5-7 the rest of the way that's still 9-7. I'm interested to see what happens in the Bay this coming year.
  15. For comparison's sake: Alex Smith played 11 games: QB Rating 81.5 Comp. 225 Att. 372 % 60.5 Yards 2350 Yards/Gm 213.6 TD 18 INT 12 Carson Palmer played 16 games: QB Rating 83.6 Comp. 282 Att. 466 % 60.5 Yards 3094 Yards/GM 193.4 TD 21 INT 13 I'm not saying Smith is Palmer, but their numbers are very similar, with Smith's TD total likely to be higher over 16 games since he averaged almost 2 TD's a game. I guess the question I'm posing is, if that is what Alex Smith is, Palmer on an average year, is that enough for them to be a playoff contender? With Crabtree going through a full offseason, and potentially being a solid reciever in that offense I think Alex Smith can have a good, not great season next year and in a weak division, and in the NFC, where the Wild Card is usually anyone's to grab, I'd say there's an outside chance they could be a team to sneak in and ultimately be one and done in the playoffs. Likely? Probably not. But stranger things have happened.
