I'm unsure about a few things involving the Redskins. Yes I know how awful Snyder has been as an owner. The signing of Shanahan (other than bringing Gibbs back) is probably one of the best things he has done. Letting Shanahan and GM Allen make the decisions is also great.
Now my questions...
We all know that Shanahan loves zone blocking and can make something out of low grade rbs. Does anyone do zone blocking anymore, consistently? I think I remember hearing last year that the Lions did but it didn't really seem to be effective. Also, if your Oline is as scary as ours is, wouldn't this be a long process to teach them? Is it possible an Oline can mesh vastly during camp and preseason? Normally it seems to take half a season or so for the line to get to know each others instincts. I noticed we signed Artis Hicks from Vikings but I'm unsure if Vikings used zone blocking? I'm just hoping I don't have to wait 2 to 3 years for an Oline to develop. The good thing is I guess, Clinton Portis is familiar with the zone blocking.
Marko Mitchell.. seriously, why hasn't he been playing in any games really? I noticed towards the end of the season they finally threw him in some, but geeze. The guy is huge and has great hands.. so my question here is.. Is it better to have a fast wr at the slot such as Moss or a tall wr such as Marko? I'm not comparing Moss WR abilities to Marko, just Moss's speed and Marko's height in the slot, which do you all think is better?
Speaking of height... what happend to the Bills WR James Hardy? Haven't heard from him in awhile I don't think.
Do you think the Redskins should run a 3-4 defense or a 4-3 defense based upon the players they have on the roster now? They just signed DT Maake Kemoeatu and resigned Philip Daniels. No more smoot, and maybe Rogers is staying but he seems to want to leave.
I'm just curious to how both the offense and defense are going to be put through changes.. this really doesn't look good IMO.
