  1. If someone could dig up the 7/12 Theory thread I wrote a long, long time ago that would be great. It argues that 7 out of the top-12 RBs are busts for the season, and that it makes more sense to take other positions early, positions where you can ensure elite production, and then take a handful of RBs in the midrounds with high potential. A self criticism of my theory: it's damn hard to do well. Look at the names you just wrote to prove your point and who ISNT on that list. A stud like Peyton Manning or Brees or Rodgers for QBs actually didn't cost people a 1st or 2nd rounder really, as their adps are 29.4, 18.07, and 15.8 respectively. Manning was available in the third round in a lot of leagues yet is the clear-cut #1 guy now. For WR you listed Dez, AJ Green, and Demaryius. You ignored Calvin Johnson (the #1 WR) and Brandon Marshall (almost always ahead of Demaryius). If you could let me know with 100% confidence who the #1 WR is for next year, I would take him mid-1st. Just because that would be guaranteed performance. But you can't. I'm not sold that the bust rate is really significantly lower on a top-3 QB or a top-5 WR. If you want to do some further resaerch, look into that! ADPs are from MFL
  2. If I am flying high I don't automatically abide by the if it ain't broken method of thinking. I am more cautious on making significant moves, because there is more to lose, but will still pull the trigger if I like the move when all is said and done. Stagnancy is not really the best policy for fantasy. My main team dropped their first game due to Calvin Johnson, Jimmy Graham, and Randall Cobb injuries..so I don't have the luxury to stay put.
  3. Would be a fool to not to roll with him. I'm expecting WR1 numbers today.
  4. Doug Martin last year? Ray Rice a few years ago? Both had very similar situations where I don't think you could call them or their supporting casts proven commodities, but high risk high reward.
  5. Starting to doubt if the talent is in Miller for a top-10 season like I thought he would have...still going to give Miller atleast a few more weeks to get going.
  6. Who cares? Why even bring it up...glutton for punishment much?
  7. Great performance from Kenbrell tonight. Hope people didn't jump the gun too quickly..
  8. As for the state of the game...I hate the instant replay changes. Hate them. When a turnover happens, I have about three seconds to bask in the glory of whatever crazy/athletic/absurd/crucial play just happened before worrying if it's going to be automatically reviewed. The announcers start talking about the review before they even say a word about the actual turnover's significance. The constant trips to the booth, for some reason, are the most painful part of watching a game...If coaches had three challenges each I think that would be the happy medium everyone wants. As far as the player protection rules I am torn. I understand the necessity of making the game safer but it does feel like watching Madden football out there once in a while...gone are the days of a truly dominant defense and I think the statement defense wins championships no longer rings true....a franchise QB with mediocre D wins championships in today's league.
  9. If I had a kid I would not let them play football. Hundreds of other activities that are out there that aren't nearly as potentially fatal to their future. One nasty hit is all it takes...
  10. A generation of pansies or a generation of progressives? Feel like the classic "old geezer, back in my day" guy yet? Jeez. Saying everything is overblown is overblowing your own point. And if you don't think it's important to emphasize the importance of proper treatment and procedure of injuries, well, ask a guy like Junior Seau how he feels on that issue. Oh wait...maybe we should learn from our mistakes and try to make the most dangerous activity kids play a tad safer? I had many many other ways of having fun as a kid without ever getting a concussion or launching myself headfirst at other kids wearing a helmet.
  11. That actually makes the most sense out of all potential destinations.
  12. Your angle on this is...intriguing. Pretty sure Europeans are into whatever you wanna do anyways though but I like where this is going.
  13. Tankapalooza 2014 is officially upon us! The contenders: Cleveland, Jacksonville, Oakland, and Tampa Bay so far.
  14. My cousin who lives in London (for most of his life) went to the game last year. Most people attending didn't understand how am. football works and started just fooling around in the crowd (chants, waves, bouncing balls, stuff like that). FWIW that is the experience I would expect - not an atmosphere focused on the actual game, since it's between two mediocre teams in a sport they generally don't understand.
  15. Hindsight is 20/20. Dude has talent and hopefully won't Moreno-out on the Pats. But Vereen outplayed him and Bolden looks good too. Looks like a classic RBBC this year but Ridley does have talent and is still progressing...don't bash him just yet.
