  1. 22 years with local and 5 years before that. One of my favorite things is having one of our owners pull out the notebook he's kept for all years. Best part: how hilariously bad his handwriting gets by the the 13th round (and 13th beer.) It wouldn't be the same without these guys and without the feeling that comes from sitting down with them.
  2. I've watched TO quit in several games this year. Serious alligator arms. You can do that, but I think you give up the option of critiquing from top to bottom. He didn't get coached up enough during the week? Give me a break.
  3. That's right, LeBron, it is the absolutely single reason we make any choices in life.
  4. Well, of course, that would be Orton...or...wait for it...Cutler. I'm screwed right down the line. I'd like to add that I have a note I gave my wife like, 10 years ago which she keeps in her dresser that reads "F&%$ Mike Shanahan. Don't draft a Denver back." She pulls it out each August and reads it to me, pre draft. I did not observe the admonition this year.
  5. So far the responses add up to clear as mud. I think I may go with superstition and start my year longer starters in Turner/Foster. Oh, and while I'm at it, I gotta decide between Tamme and VDavis. Something tells me my embarrassment of riches is gonna bite me in the butt.
  6. In a td heavy, non-ppr league, I have to start two of these three in the first round of the playoffs: Foster, Turner, Moreno. I should be thrilled to have this problem, but it feels like a bad game of Russian roulette to me.
  7. Many years ago, Sports Illustrated (maybe 30+?) did a cover story on the topic of reducing catastrophic injuries in football. In the end, reducing equipment, including reducing/eliminating the helmet, was the only thing that would achieve that end. The guy may be a goof, but his logic relative to football equipment and injuries is reasonable. Anybody who has played the game knows that the better your equipment (helmet and pads) the more free you feel to deliver a bigger blow.
  8. For years after the magic of Terrell Davis, I allowed myself to be sucked into the wicked world of Mike Shanahan. I once started Tatum and Mike in the same game. I was not well. Through years of counseling (I wrote notes that my wife would read to me on draft day: "Mike Shanahan is a %&*$" and "No Round is a Good Round For a Denver RB") I finally broke free. Or so I thought. Am I bound to suffer anew with my beloved Arian at the hands Shanny Jr., Gary Kubiak?
  9. Shorter span of time, but TD carried teams for several years. So much so that many of us couldn't stay from the Olandis Gary's of the world for years to come.
  10. I got an account just to post this in honor of a fellow league member. This is the 20th anniversary season of the Walla Walla Sweet Onion Fantasy Football League and the first one without one of our league founders who had to retire his team this season. We raised our glasses of rye in his honor and pressed on. Funny how something as silly as ff can come to mean quite a lot. Oh, and we always remind one of our distinquished owners that he once drafted James Brooks in the first round--in the year he retired mid-season.
