  1. kinda off topic, but what was the name of that guy a couple of years ago who was on here constantly trolling everyone? he was on multiple sites as well. he would answer every question as if it were the final word, trolled to the perfect T. something with an A? I don't remember, but he would also leave his name at the end of each post too? just curious.
  2. +100. This should almost be the end of the thread because it makes too much sense. Get what the draft gives you in your specific spot, but know that anyone you draft is liable to get injured or miss games. That's why fantasy football is so frustrating yet rewarding at the same time. I find I spend more time looking at people who I can pick up during the regular season from free agency than on the initial draft picks themselves. Oh, and don't fall in love with a strategy. Have a general idea of who you want based on your league settings and draft position, but look at drop offs in projections by position too. Let the numbers do the talking sometimes. None of us have the trick to win. It's a game of luck. It's gambling. However, you can increase your chances of winning by drafting logically and paying close attention to the wire throughout the season.
  3. Thanks a lot for the feedback everyone. After doing some more mock drafts thinking how a couple of people in my league usually draft, I realized I'd still be stuck in a hole without drafting Antonio. Didn't realize until recently how high everyone was sold on Brown too, so it makes the decision easier. Thanks again.
  4. I like that idea a lot, but I've done a couple mocks and very few times do I actually end up being able to grab a stud in Rd 2, no matter the position. I could keep Emmanuel Sanders at rd 7 or Jordan Matthews at rd 15, but I'm still without a stud in the position. I'm thinking I have to be a little hopeful that the others in my draft screw up and give me a gem.
  5. Hello all, So I'm in a bit of a pickle. We are doing keepers this year, and we're only keeping one from last years draft and losing that pick the player was taken in. I also have 2nd pick this year in a 10-man .5 PPR 1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB/WR, 1 WR/TE league. I took Antonio Brown 2nd round last year. Took Nelson in the 3rd. And Lamar Miller in the 14th round. Reason I'm questioning this all is because I can absolutely nab a stud RB with the 2nd overall pick this year, but if I keep Miller, the snake on the way back in the 2nd round leaves me with some very iffy WR options (Mike Evans, T.Y. Hilton, Alshon). I'm just not sold on that group for whatever reason. So should I: A. just keep Antonio Brown and lose my 2nd round pick B. keep Jordy Nelson and try and pick up a good compliment to him in the 2nd round C. keep Lamar Miller in the way way back (14th round) and just run with the draft and see where I end up Maybe it's the certainty of having a stud RB and WR that makes me want to keep Brown, but I don't know. That's why I'm turning to the general population and hoping to see what you all think. Any help would be appreciated, and I'll put in my 2 cents in for your questions/threads as well. Thanks!
  6. Antonio Gates!!! He still has it. I'll never forget the one handers he pulls off. Seeing the confusion and disbeliefe on Pete Carroll's face made my entire week.
  7. Damn, didn't think I'd spark this much debate. All good responses, except for the few smartasses that didn't read the first two sentences of my original post. This is fantasy football, and last time I checked, it's gambling. Every week, every player is a gamble. Some are safer bets than others, but that doesn't mean they're 100% guaranteed. Joebirds55 said it best. These are two entirely different teams, yet we're somehow relating the numbers last year as if nothing happened in the off-season. Last year, everybody would've given me the same scrutiny for benching Doug Martin or Trent Richardson the first couple weeks. Not saying they're even comparable to Charles now, but before the season started last year, everybody would've thought they were. As I said after every single one of my posts, I hope I'm wrong and he goes off for 25 points.
  8. I still will never understand why great players are "guaranteed" a set amount of points each week, no matter what team they're on, who they're facing, or any other constraints like that. It's like on and off weeks or bad weeks or OK weeks don't exist for first round players. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong and he has a 100 yd game with 2 TDs. But with him being the only threat Denver has to worry about and him being on a mediocre offense, it's tough to say he's guaranteed to do amazing, especially 40 points in one week.
  9. No, I'm not talking about benching him for the rest of the season and having him take up my roster spot because of a week 1 flop. I didn't go into panic mode either. That's irrational and pointless half the time. But let's be honest, the Chiefs' offensive line is dropping like flies, their QB situation doesn't cheer us up, and neither does anything else on their team. It's either time to trade him away or treat him as a week to week fill-in. Simple as that. There were people that stayed away from him, like me in 4 of my other leagues, but the 5th one I said 'what the hell' and took him to change things up a bit. Benching him seems only logical if you think you have good back-ups. That being said, this is very situational. For example, we start two RBs and 2 FLEXs. I had Charles and Bernard at RB, Bell and E. Sanders at FLEX. So, I switched Bell into the RB1 and Charles at FLEX so I can decide throughout the weekend what I want to do. I have Michael Floyd and T.Y. Hilton on my bench. They're playing crappy defenses, they're good players, good offenses, sound QBs, so I'm thinking they score more than Charles. Maybe not, but Charles being the only weapon on the Chiefs playing against Denver.. not really liking it a whole lot. Even with Bowe coming back. I like Floyds chances just a little more, so I'm going to put him in. Point is, who else has the stones to put your #1 pick on the bench so early? It is fantasy, nobody said your first pick was a lock to get 20 points per game. Hopefully I'm wrong so we can start trusting Charles with all our hearts again.
  10. Where were you on that one Captain?! Good calls though.
  11. I had Rivers, Calvin, Fitz, Gordon, Jeffrey (we start 4 WRs), Charles, Bush, Orange Julius, and my DEFs were horrible, even with a decent Denver D, it wasn't enough. Finished 6 out of 8! I have more points scored than the person in first place, but have 450 more points scored against me. Is it just me, or did EVERYONE you play, just go off on a tangent against you? Wittens insane 3 TDs WK 1, T.Y. Hiltons random 3 TD game, Deckers unnecessary 4 TDs a couple weeks ago, all against me. You know how after every season you compile your mistakes and see where you went wrong? Well that's virtually impossible here because this all just seems 100% luck based now. No injuries, no major screw ups, no stupid trades. This is a dream team, and it just went to waste. Reading others' stories though makes it a little better. Thanks everyone and good luck to you all, it's been an eventful year. Now to actually relax and watch the games in solace.
  12. You've been a huge help HK, and I come to you with one final proposal. This guy wants anything for Calvin Johnson. He says any QB he has, any WR he has, and KC Def for Calvin and one other player I don't want. He has Matt Ryan, Andy Dalton, and Case Keenum as QB. His WRs are AJ Green, Andre Johnson, Jordy Nelson and the rest are pointless. The player I don't want is Steven Jackson or IND Def. They're pointless at this time. We're a 2 QB league and I have Rivers and Eli. So how does Matt Ryan/Andy Dalton, AJ Green, KC Def for Calvin and SJax/IND Def sound? I'm sitting at 4-6 because I've had the most points scored against me (the next closest player scored against is 150 points less). At this point, I need a comeback, My team is in my sig if you need any reference. I have till the end of the day to make a trade. Let me know what you think and thank you so much. You're doing one hell of a service! Keep on keepin on.
  13. The other guy has AJ Green too. If I were to somehow substitute him in the trade for Johnson or Nelson, would this change everything? Thanks for the replies though, this is making me rethink stuff. I'm also desperate at QB2. We're in a 2 QB league and Locker is on IR while Eli is nothing short of horrible.
  14. So the guy I'm trading with loves Megatron and seems to put up anything for him, so I made this offer, annnnnnnd he wants to go through with it. He also just enjoys trading for the hell of it, even if it's unnecessary. Let me know if I'm giving up too much here. My teams in the sig. Giving: Calvin Johnson Josh Gordon Eli Manning Colts D Receiving: Andre Johnson Jordy Nelson Case Keenum Zac Stacy Dallas D This trade is enticing as hell, seeing as I'm 4-6 this season and need the playoff push. Unfortunately, I've had the unlucky run of having the most points scored against me in the entire league, making it that much harder. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Giving up Calvin might make me shed a tear.
  15. What's your opinion on dropping Stevie Johnson and picking up Heyward-Bey? Looks like the rest of the fantasy season is smooth sailing for the Colts, considering their upcoming matches; but then we must factor in Beys role and sudden spike in usage. Would you trust him enough to drop Stevie Johnson who has already established himself as a good receiver? Johnson unfortunately lacks a good QB, so this tilts things just a little in Beys favor. Let me know what you think, thanks!
