  1. Regular season or bowl, great (read: well coached) teams should not get blown out, in any game, period. USC's worst loss since St. Pete's arrival was by 11 to ND in Carroll's first year, his worst team. Since then, 7 is the biggest loss margin.
  2. I just need to know: as a Trojan, am I supposed to be rooting for the stinking Beavers to win or lose now? That is, due to the Rose Bowl acting like a dinosaur and taking the Big 10+1 and Pac10 champs no matter what (outside of NC game which won't happen this year for these two lousy conferences), is it better that USC goes to the Fiesta or the Rose? Could USC get aced out of a spot if the Beavs win out? I'm so damn confused... As much of a Pac10 homer that I am, (in most years) I just don't think two spots are deserved this year, and would rather see a better third Big 12 or Boise St team in there instead of a 3 loss team like the Beavs. And the Rose getting a rematch of a blow out is just stupid, but I always thought Hansen and his bed buddies were dumb anyway...
  3. Well, that was fun. The D outscores the opponent, and the O puts up some TDs as well. Next?
  4. I agree. And 24-13 Bucks, really? Bucks might not even score. Trojans D is n-a-s-t-y....
  5. Hope so, polk. Mine has two older bros to help look after her too. But in the end, it comes down to her own smarts, character, self-esteem, etc.......
  6. Controller and muck = nice work. Got a couple in my office, but I try not to flirt too much. I'm waiting for Chargerz to reply...
  7. Can't wait for this game. OSU is the best team to come into the Coliseum in awhile. Trojans will be ready for them. Two great defenses playing against two offenses with decent speed and power. Could come down to special teams and/or one or two big mistakes late.....
  8. 1. Comparisons to MJ - I think they're ridiculous too, and so does Kobe (in public anyway). And BTW, no one is stopping you... 2. He may go home not a champion this year, but he has 3 rings already, and next year with Bynum back is looking good already. And I dare say the Lakers wouldn't have those 3 without him. 3. Almost everyone has acknowledged that he has a stronger work ethic than anyone in the game since MJ, and he has tried to elevate the game of those around him. He may not be successful at it, and he's still learning how to be a better leader, but to insinuate that he doesn't care enough to be a champion is the 'crazy' part I was originally referring to above. 4. Ask Pierce, KG and every other player on the US Olympic team if they want Kobe on the team this summer in China. Go ahead, I'll wait for you to get back.... 5. Before anyone here thinks I've drunk the Kobe Koolaid, no, I don't think he is a perfect role model. And no, I didn't appreciate his antics last summer as a lifelong Laker fan. And yes, sometimes he does revert back to a bit of a spoiled brat. But if I was the captain of a b-ball team at the local park, and every current NBA or worldwide player was available, would I pick Kobe first? Yes in a heartbeat, and I'd hand over the captain's chair to him too, in no small part due to his 'heart of a champion'. A few billion other people would too, I suspect. I won't reply to anything else on it, but feel free to say whatever you want, dude....
  9. I understand a lot of the anti-Kobe sentiment, and a lot of it is deserved. But your first sentence is one of the craziest things I've ever read here....
  10. As you said, 4 of the stars you mentioned sucked. It was one big suckfest. But I'll take the W as a Laker fan, and hope for a couple more here...
  11. I remember the SAP implementation as the time all the $150/hour counsultants made out like bandits, while our IT guys put in tons of OT for free. (Thankfully, I was not one of them, but I still felt sympathy.) Nice. Is it too late for you to become one of those guys?
  12. That was a thunderous putback by KG, holy sh*t! And Pierce's injury - was he overreacting or what? Must not have been bad at all... I agree with a comment John Barry had on Cowherd's show this morning: if Kobe takes 26 shots again on Sunday, no way he misses 17 of them again. And Gasol with 0 boards in the 2nd half, and 3 of Odom's shots at point blank range roll out?? Ridiculous - Lakers will get it together more for Game 2, and I predict a win or a really close loss in OT. At which point I still won't be worried, unless they drop one at home. Great series, we'll see....
  13. Just 5 days ago, to fix this: <a href="http://blackdog-thegrassisalwaysgreener.blogspot.com/2008/06/H.R. Puffenstuff-dad-becomes-H.R. Puffenstuff-coach.html" target="_blank">base coaching snafu</a> edit: or try this link: blunder
  14. Oh, you're right. If Rip can't go, or just isn't himself, I'd say the Celtics take Game 6 here. Ah, Stern and the boys back in NYC get the mathcup they wanted. Stars! Tradition! Drama! I think the Lakers speed and Kobe's incredible determination will give them the slight edge, but only if they can take one of the first 2 in beantown. This is the one time I have to root against hometown boy Pierce, a well-respected dude around here, but I have to. Should be a great series...
  15. Of course, as I stated in the assumptions. I do think that without Ginobli they are not near as good, so its a major uphill battle for them to get back in it...
