I don't know why I am hesitant about this trade, but I can't pull the trigger. Thought I would get some insight from everyone here. Maybe I'm missing something OR my instincts are right.
Im in a 5 player keeper league with standard scoring on ESPN. If you don't understand what a keeper league is, it means we get to keep 5 players each season. Our league is very active(32 trades since draft day) and I managed to make some trades since our draft on Aug 10th. Before I mention the trade offer, here is what my team looks like.
Starters:
QB - Aaron Rodgers
RB - LeSean McCoy
RB - Adrian Peterson
RB/WR - Reggie Bush
WR - Randall Cobb
WR - Alshon Jeffery
TE - Jimmy Graham
D/ST - Panthers
K - Nick Novak
Bench:
RB - Steven Jackson
RB - Maurice Jones-Drew
RB - Jonathon Stewart
WR - Josh Gordon
WR - Mike Evans
WR - Michael Floyd
TE - Jordan Cameron
Trade Offer:
He offered -
1. QB - Drew Brees
2. WR - Antonio Brown
3 . Next Season 1st Round Draft Pick
FOR
1. QB - Aaron Rodgers
2. WR - Alshon Jeffery
I almost accepted automatically, but have some concerns. Brees is 35 with some recent injury problems. Rodgers is only 30, so it would make sense to keep the younger player since it is a keeper league. But on the other hand, Brees has been the #2 QB the last few seasons in fantasy football.
I look at Jeffery and Brown, and I see two WR's that have high potential. Brown is obviously the #1 WR for the Steelers and really the only good one.(Archer could be similar to Mike Wallace in the future) So I'm afraid a lot of teams with double on him. Jeffery will lose receptions to Marshall, Forte and even Bennett, but won't be double teamed very often. Looking at receptions and targets, I expect Brown to get around 10 again compared to Jeffery's 4-5.
What do you guys think? I'd like some insight on your thinking, not just an answer.
Thanks,
Jack
