  1. Maurice Jones-Drew.... Heard an interview on the radio and found him to be very well spoken and articulate.
  2. Wow.... the things I used to dream I'd do to Tawny Kitaen back in 1989!!!!
  3. Gonna throw another vote for "Walking Dead" as a must see. Great stuff on AMC!!!! (Really, there isn't anything new to the undead theme yet, but there is a lot that a show can do with that kind of backdrop, so I definitely want to see what they do with this.) Stargate Universe is in my rotation as well.
  4. Freedom is freedom, whether it is in colonial Pennsylvania or in modern Chicago or LA.
  5. I've played head to head with some Jewish folks from overseas that played as the nazi's in the close combat series. If you don't like the idea of the game, then don't buy it. But the target audience isn't you guys anyway so whether it offends you or not is largely irrelevant. You weren't going to purchase the game anyway. Unless you have actually played online in some of these FPS circles you wouldn't understand the mentality of the people this game targets. Most are very young and they could care less about any message you guys may get out of the game. These games are just a digitized version of the games I played as a kid in the neighborhood with my friends. We played army all over the neighborhood, now kids today don't have to, they do it online. And both of my grandfathers and one stepgrandfather were in WW2. One was a waistgunner on B24's, another was a mapmaker for the Air Force and the stepgrandfather was in the army in the European theatre. I don't find myself being irreverant because I kill animated American soldiers in a game. I respect what all of our American soldiers fight for and have sacrificed for no matter where/when they have fought. Hell, I tried to get into the Marine Corp but was medically DQ'd at the MEPS for my knee. I'm just saying I don't get the hypersensitivity is all. Doesn't make me a bad person.
  6. Pretty surprised by the discussion in here. I mean, as an avid gamer, I have played several WW2 era games. I have often played as the nazi's in those games. I don't share the views of nazi's but that doesn't prevent me from enjoying the challenge of trying to hold off the invasion of Normandy in Close Combat or the strategy of trying to take Stalingrad or other theatres in Panzer General 2. I get no perverse joy of killing SAS or American soldiers in Call of Duty Modern Warfare. They are just games and should be treated as such. Not Taliban recruiting tools or nazi propaganda machines. You guys are seriously indulging in some over-reactionism over a game. This coming from a website dedicated to supporting a gambling mechanism in fantasy football. Just because I play a game does not mean I share the ideas of the people portrayed in those games. Hell, if you feel that way about it, play the game to kill the Taliban and don't indulge in the killing of the American soldiers. I bet none of you have even played any of those series of games and as such, doubt you know much of what you are talking about.
  7. I'm not sure about how hospitals are different, but I helped with getting a DME medicare and medicaid certified. There is a ton of hoops to jump through and it took about 1-2 years to get everything kosher for them. Medicare/Medicaid uses independent contractors to come on sight and inspect the facility and then list the things you need to be compliant on by when they return in another visit before they decide upon certification. Also, the facility has to pay the travel expenses and rent-a-car and hotel for the representative that comes to inspect the facility. For just a small DME it took 2 1/2 days for the guy to inspect everything. 6 months later.. he returns to verify any and all changes have been made as required from the first visit. Then it was several months after that that they received the certification just so they could provide services and equipment to Medicare/Medicaid members. This is just a small rural town DME providing medical equipment to patients. This isn't a large hospital supplying actual medical care. I couldn't imagine the amount of red tape something like that has to go through in order to aquire a Medicare/Medicaid certification.
  8. Omg... someone should absolutely commit this guy....wow....
  9. Well, I've never tried any kind of research other than some testing of semi-conductor materials for Nasa back in 1991 at college as part of my scholarship. But I do know that when the government started allowing scientists to receive money from private corporations and being able to start up their own private companies based upon their research at a university and that the universities themselves are able to apply for and receive patents on their research developments that the degree to which scientific method can be corrupted is quite large. Kid Cid cites that "It isn't always pretty and often becomes politicized but the fact remains that when the dust settles, the truth of the matter will be arrived at." That is an opinion and there is no basis of fact in his argument. Has anyone seen the list of patents that universities hold? Just a few So, when a univeristy holds a patent on something, how is it distributed to the private sector? I'm unfamiliar with how that works and how a university is compensated for a patent they hold. Maybe kid cid could enlighten us on this. I hate calling kid cid out here on this and I will freely admit I am not a scientist nor have I ever done research at a level 1 university research center, but I just don't hold that scientists aren't ever tilted in a certain way because they do stand to benefit from it in some fashion.
  10. Well, I sure have met some women with some killer cats.... I'm just saying...
  11. I used to want to be like Mike (Jordan). Now... I am like Mike (Owens).
  12. Uh... anyone else see this as a possible cause of death? I mean, if you can somehow get your cat onto your chest, it can't be good for ya...
  13. So is Blount the baddest running back to come out of college since Lawrence Phillips?
  14. I think you are being a little hard on Jackson, PoN. To me, and this is just my opinion and we know what those are worth, I thought Jackson looked good last season. Especially, compared to his rookie year. I thought he showed good burst and vision most of the time last season and was pretty productive in his limited touches. He averaged 5.5 yards per carry in 45 attempts. He also caught 30 balls. I feel pretty confident that if Grant does go down that Jackson can fill in well enough not to have a large dip in production. Saying that, I think that Finley is the one who will surprise this season. I'm scared of Jones due to his second straight pre-season of injuries and missed practice time. He definitely has shown the ability, but he seems to have a thing for getting nicked up.
  15. (KFFL) CBSSports.com reports St. Louis Rams WR Tim Carter stepped into the starting rotation in place of injured WR Donnie Avery (foot) during practice Monday, Aug. 10. I do not know how accurate that is or how much Carter filled in for Avery. But I think it should be worth noting that Carter has 7 years experience, although he did take 2 off to pursue non-football interestes, and has experience with the coaching staff from his stint in New York. Carter could be a dark horse to claim the overall 2nd or 3rd WR option on this team over Burton, Robinson, and Curry. I know people are pimping the latter players, but I believe Carter should at least be in the conversation as a possibility. However small....
