  1. Mariota has a few of "issues", namely his accuracy. He is NOTHING like Andrew Luck and I beg you to find someone credible who makes that comparison.
  2. Rajncajn - I'm not disagreeing with the statement necessarily. I've heard the same thing, but was simply wondering if there was anything really to it or is it just something we are so used to hearing we accept it as fact. I can find nothing that would indicate Cowboy success indicates league success in ANY way. So as far as I can tell it doesn't matter. The Cowboys will sell regardless if they are relevant. They have been pretty much irrelevant for years yet that never impacted their bottom line or hurt their brand. It's much like the team I root for in the Bears. They've made the playoffs as often as the Raiders in the last 20-25 years yet they still remain a top team despite how poorly they have done. I feel the NFL is so big at his point it does not matter if any one team is good or bad in any given year.
  3. I didn't ask you to do any research, I simply asked you if it was your opinion or if it was based on actual facts. You ended up admitting it was simply your opinion which happens to be based on nothing but hearsay. You then decided to insult me as is your typical reaction whenever some one disagrees with you. You always get your panties in a bunch when someone doesn't just take your word as gospel. I find it amusing.
  4. Oh well, since the discussion is over...... So I guess your New Year's resolution wasn't "need actual facts to support my opinions posted on The Huddle".
  5. The traditional way to look at which teams are the most popular is through tv ratings, tickets sold and merchandise sold. The Cowboys, regardless of record always finish in the top 10 and more times than not the top 5. A few other teams that always find their way into the top 10 on these lists are the Bears, Steelers, and Packers (it's amazing to me how far a reach the Packers have considering Green Bay has around 105,000 people living there and I live in a city that has suburbs with larger populations). Outside of those teams the top teams will vary from year to year. However, I can find no evidence that supports that there is any correlation for the Cowboys (or any of the above teams I mentioned) being relevant to the success of the NFL. Unless you can find actual evidence outside of "what you've heard people say" it is nothing but a myth. In fact, the NFL is the only sport that is currently "small market" proof. It does not impact their bottom line in anyway when two "small market team" battle in the Super Bowl. The Yankee hatred is far deeper because it has been around that much longer. The Yankees were hated because of how many Championships they've won. Yankee hate is passed down from generation to generation. The Cowboys are only called "America's Team" because they made that proclamation in 1978, not because they deserved it.
  6. Darin3 - I'm not disagreeing or agreeing with you here, but I am wondering what evidence you have to support the NFL is a better place when the Cowboys are good or is that just a personal opinion?
  7. Romo has thrown a total of 2 INT's in the postseason. He's not been great in the postseason, but I'm not surprised your the type to put all the blame on the QB when things don't go as planned.
  8. Disagree on Romo. He's played up to his contract and I believe is capable of being a QB on a winning SB team.
  9. It was obviously a bad decision to sign Cutler to that contract. The smarter move would have been to franchise tag him and see how it plays out this year. They could have cut their losses after this season and would not be stuck in this position going into the off-season. The Bears are a complete mess right now. We know Trestman is gone along with the entire coaching staff. As of right now Emery would be making the hire for the next head coach. I'm not sure many fans like that idea considering he botched the attempt to hire Bruce Arians and then hired Trestman who has proven to be a disaster as a head coach. The other thing to consider is that Emery and the Bears scouting team have the vast majority of their scouting completed for the upcoming draft. All of the preliminary work is done at this point and it will be used in conjunction with what they learn through the scouting combine and individual workouts. If the Bears do decide to fire Emery they need to act quickly to try and give the new GM enough time to not only put together a coaching staff (keep in mind they need to decide then about Cutler's future with them) but also do their own evaluation on Emery's reports. Their isn't enough time to start from scratch. We also know based off of their recent drafts that Emery's scouting info is suspect at best. If a new GM is hired he will have an uphill battle this off-season.
  10. What I am saying, and have always said, is that McCown should not be judged based what you saw from a handful of games. He's been in the league for a long time. McCown has been dreadful this year in Tampa, which again proves last year was a fluke. He' not a game manager, he's a bad quarterback. Anyone who thinks the Bears are simply a QB away must not watch the games.
  11. Cutler doesn't appear to be the answer, but I sure as heck know Josh McCown wasn't. Although he was the Bears MVP in the Bears/Bucs game this year, despite playing for the Bucs. He's absolutely atrocious. It will be very interesting to see how the off-season will play out. Trestman is gone for sure (Tresman may have even ruined any chance of being hired as anything above a positional coach after this season) . Emery should be gone, but that remains to be seen. If Emery returns Jay Cutler will be the Bears starting QB and would be working with his 5th OC in 7 years with the Bears. If Emery is gone then it becomes more likely the Bears do whatever they can to get rid of Cutler but still doesn't mean he's gone. Obviously the new GM would get together with whomever the new head coach is to discuss what the plans are for the QB position. It is still very possible that they go with Cutler while trying to find a long term solution to the problem. Although Cutler's place in the organization will go from franchise QB to stop gap QB.
  12. I swear, this guy wakes up and drinks a tall glass of stupid every morning.
  13. I've always been a huge fan of his talent. Injuries derailed his college career, but he was talented enough to still get signed despite blowing out his knee. Hurt his knee again but still got picked up by the Ravens to their practice squad before finally being invited to NE this offseason. He's finally healthy and able to show why he was so highly touted.
