  1. For the record, I vilified Malone and Payton for going to the Lakers because . . . well, they're the Lakers and they cheat.
  2. The college season starts Thursday, August 30th.
  3. I don't normally wear a sidearm to bbq but am not going to judge Perch. I just wanted to point out his concerns about wild hogs in the area being a threat to his pets and children is not so far fetched, as alluded to by Bush's mole comparison.
  4. Glad things are going well in Mayberry, but things aren't like that in many rural areas. http://billingsgazette.com/news/state-and-regional/montana/mountain-lion-crashes-through-baker-home-s-glass-door-is/article_653d9046-7111-5129-955e-412854ae909a.html
  5. We buried my 41 year old stepbrother last week. He didn't like wearing a helmet either.
  6. Athletically, Williams and Westbrook would run circles around Stockton. However, give me 12 guys and two months to throw a team together, and I'll take a player like Stockton (or Nash) to run the point every time. On top of that, Stockton and Malone were already on the same page, as were Jordan and Pippen. I think you will see Team USA play its best ball this summer when Westbrook, Durant, and Harden are all on the floor simply because of their familiarity with one another. Most of the other teams have been playing together since they were 5.
  7. Honestly, Bird and Magic are afterthoughts for me when I think of the '92 Dream Team. I instantly think of Jordan, Pippen, Robinson, Ewing, Barkley, Stockton and Malone, who were all in their prime.
  8. As Big Country said, "Useless without pocs."
  9. The one thing that the Finals did confirm for me is that Battier should be and should have always been a Spur.
  10. It was an exceptional team performance and quite an exclamation point for the Heat. LeBron's game was shades of Magic with him guarding all positions, balancing his shooting and driving, and getting the rest of the team involved.
  11. The Heat do play good defense, and it along with many other things has the Thunder out of sync. Being young and in the Finals for the first time may also be playing a large part in it. Losing at home and the belief their invincible no matter how far behind they are didn't help them either. At the same time, while the Spurs may not be leading the league in defense anymore, they are nowhere near the bottom of the league. The Thunder were simply a machine when they made the extra pass and took care of the ball. Durant took over in the 4th quarter of each game and was unstoppable despite Leonard and Jackson playing as close to picture perfect defense as possible.
  12. The Heat are a good team with some great players. I don't know if they are a better team but won't argue that they are playing better in the Finals. The Thunder destroyed my Spurs by making the extra pass, playing team ball, and getting big (and uncharacteristic) contributions from Sefolosha, Ibaka, Fisher, and the rest of "the others". In the Finals, it has been only Durant and Westbrook with occasional sightings of Harden. On the other hand, "the others" on the Heat (Chalmers, Battier, etc.) have really stepped up to help out a very determined James and a struggling Wade. It also seems like Bosh is back into the flow of the game.
