  1. Suckin azz sadly. Much of the same roster issues as knights..............
  2. In my neck of the woods, there is ammo to be had if your willing to pay the price. Walmart is so much cheaper on handgun ammo it's crazy, ie $15.00 for 45ACP vs $26.00 @ the Big 5 type stores. Ammo doesn't last more than an hour or two, due to the price difference. I usually go to Wally World 2x a week for other things, and now check the ammo case every time. If I'm going, I also coincide my trip with their normal delivery schedule. It's crazy, I know, but I'm cheap that way. I find my self slowly increasing the amount that I'm willing to pay.
  3. I enjoyed the finale. I was getting pissed when it looked like they were going to make a deal and go on their merry way, but Chief choking that hosebag and everything going to hell in a handbasket saved it. It bothers me a bit that Adama is going to live his last days in isolation, instead of going back to hang out with his son. Good luck building that cabin by yourself old man.
  4. I just picked up a Rock Island 1911 and can attest that it is a good shooter. I'd go for the tactical version with all the upgrades that people tend to like. You can find these for $400-$500. Lifetime warranty.
  5. You guys are awesome! Just the kind of insight I was hoping for.
  6. I think a 10/22 is definitely something I'll get down the road. It's amazing all the stocks, barrels, etc. you can find for it. It would be pretty easy to get $1,000+ into a build job. You could get an AR for what some people put into them. Still a lot cheaper to shoot though. The Marlin is a bare-bones, old school little gun that I think would be a good shooter. I think that's what I like about it. We'll initially probably go without the scope so he learns to shoot with the iron sites first. I just wish I knew someone who's got one, so we could try it out first.
  7. I'm going to be buying a 22 for my son and I to shoot together. He's 9 and a normal size kid. Initially I was going to go the Ruger route, mainly due to all the aftermarket products out there. Now I'm leaning towards the Marlin because it's size may be a little easier for him to handle. The Marlin is also $50 less. I've shot a 10/22 many times and it is a fun little gun. I don't know anyone who has a Marlin, so I'm hoping some fellow Huddlers have some experience with them. My boy has only been shooting a couple of times, so I also want to get something that will help him develop good shooting skills/habits. Many thanks!
  8. I've never been one of those people who worried about things such as water/food storage and other emergency needs until the past few months. I'm curious what other Huddlers have done or plan to do with respect to planning for a natural disaster/flu pandemic or if things go full on Red Dawn or something like that. I know the Gulf Staters probably have some strong feelings having gone through some rough times. I know people who have months of food and water, as well as people who are stockpiling Athenaepots of ammo. Personally, I've started storing bottled water/food for a couple of weeks, which just makes a lot of sense for a family. Is anything beyond that crazy and paranoid?
  9. Yeah, that's what I meant. I've been looking around, and ammo isn't staying on the shelves long. I've only been able to score two boxes of American Eagle 230gr FMJ so far. Thanks for the suggestions. Going to go kill some cans early next week.
  10. I have wanted a 1911 for awhile. I didn't buy it directly, but ended up with a new mil spec Rock Island 1911 as a gift. From what I've read, it sounds like a good shooter. This is my first pistol, but I've shot my buddies Kimber a few times. I've got Hogue grips and a couple of MrCormick mags coming. Now what to shoot to break her in. Any preferences with respect to cost/quality/availability?
  11. I lived in Eugene for three years, but that was 20 years ago. It wasn't a bad place then. It's kind of an interesting place, with the city and the surrounding smaller communities being quite a bit different. We lived a rural area just north of Eugene, that was really nice. From my experience, Eugene was pretty liberal, with the outlying areas more conservative. Pretty mild climate, and as you would expect it rains plenty there. The summers were really nice.
  12. Love Guru, F'n hated that movie.
  13. $3.13 where I'm at, but as low as $2.69 in the northern panhandle of the state.
  14. Lots of good suggestions. Sun Valley is nice, and a short distance to Stanley, Red Fish Lake and other really nice spots. We do a trip every year to Red Fish and have a great time. Jackson would also work, it's close to Yellowstone and two ski resorts.
