#3813136 NFL Draft: comments on picks/trades/etc (as they happen or afterwards)

Posted darin3 on 25 April 2013 - 10:46 PM

Ravens make a smart pick.  Gotta love it when talent just falls into your lap.

Not surprisingly, teams like the Raiders and Cowboys reach... while the smart teams have potential studs just fall to them.  * shakes head *

As a Seahawk homer I don't like this trade for several reasons:

1) I'm not convinced he's durable enough, as he plays a rather reckless style. (Maybe, just maybe, having him screw me on three different fantasy teams colors my opinion in regard to durability, but I can handle him screwing my fantasy teams. I just can't handle him screwing my rl team.)

2) I think he's a head case. So he was unhappy with his QB and his contract. Now he's got Wilson and will have a shiny, new, 10 million dollar per year contract, but he'll find some other reason to be unhappy. Just watch when he's not getting 10 targets per game(which he won't get in Seattle). The dude needs to grow up, just not while sitting on the Seahawk sideline hurt and making 10 mil per year. The Seahawks have great team chemistry. Why spoil it with a malcontent.

3) I think the Seahawks have bigger needs than a prima donna WR, mainly defensive line(both end and tackle). If they were to get a WR, I was hoping for a bigger receiver for when Sidney Rice's next injury happens. Overall I think the price was too high, considering the rumored 3rd round pick that's included in the trade.

#3733967 Correct me if I am wrong ... regular refs blew the review ...

The booth can only call for a replay.  The ref on the field makes the final determination and can NOT be overruled by the booth.

Mfl doesn't even show that as a strange play.

yes, drafts and draft order not set, disregard the calendar until we get the draft order set,

likely to begin next week if everyone is fine with that

That's cool.  Actually, I just got an update and Arian Foster was just selected by the system for killablake.

Meh.  I like the fact that someone had the balls to tackle one of the most pressing issues facing the nation today (i.e., health care).  I'm uneasy that the economics of the solution won't be understood for years to come.  Perhaps the nation as a whole will be better off, or perhaps we're just trading one problem for another.  No one really knows and anyone who says otherwise is merely speculating.

Nod.  Actually I have allowed (probably forgot) them to put on the plate frames, only to swap them out for something nicer within the first week.

Question:
From the 50's (maybe earlier) thru the 70's some dealerships actually had chrome plated "pot metal" ones that they drilled holes for and they started to oxidize and rust the car's finish faster than any other part of the car.  My first NEW car was a 1973 Nova and that was the first place it rusted (~1976).  Anyone still see those anymore?

Jesse was giving a press conference but the others were at the Mayo Clinic.  The big guy moved here from the Ukraine because of the clinic to control his growth.

I was at a convention and heard jimmy carter, Johnny Bench, and Tanya Tucker speak.

These types of subsidies run counter to my political philosophy. When the most cogent arguement for a massive government expenditure and subsidy is Go ________! (Insert name of your favorite team) that is an admission that government will justify any act under the concept of promoting the general welfare.  This is not government of limited or enumerated powers.  When supporters of these matters try to justify these expenses they point to economic stimulus, but in a vacuum.  They do not compare this stimulus to the stimulus that would come from an equal expenditure on matters central to the role of government because the numbers would not add up.

This project, on top of general political objections, does not appear to be well thought out.  It is a project of political compromise, not when well thought out to account for the needs of business or the community.  I believe, therefore, that this stadium will prove as unsatisfying and inadequate as did the Humperdome which many predicted at the time would not serve the needs of the team or the area for the time horizon projected.

That said I saw some artists renderings today of the loosely presumed facility.  Not bad.  For the Viking fans here I congratulate you today. Faults aside it must be a relief to have this behind you for a time.

Didn't follow details of what amendments passed...internet sales tax...but it passed the Senate. On to conference committee. Would be nice to see a short summary of what passed both houses.

After the bill passed the house, the local media was in a frenzy over reporting all of it.  When it passed the senate, not so much as they've learned it's all a game to them.

Thanks for kicking me in words with friends btw.

Opponents weren't buying the threat of team flight.

"I want to know where the Vikings are going if they leave," said Democratic Sen. Barb Goodwin of Columbia Heights.

She added, "I think we're scaring a lot of people for no good reason."
