I've been winging it a couple of weeks using thehuddle without much success so I decided to try the forums for input.
I came here because of success with baseballHQ, and members there get a discount here (though I screwed up and entered my info wrong so no discount and customer service has yet to respond). BaseballHQ is a very analytic approach to baseball and I was hoping to find that here, but it seems I may have the wrong idea what thehuddle is.
I've tried using "pick-up joint" and "free agent forecast" for free agents and every person listed there is always owned by the time the article comes out except for the very rare "long-term stash" (i.e., Jamison Crowder is the first one) Maybe because we're a 12-team league? A good example of my confusion is Thomas Rawls rushes for 106 yards and is picked up Sunday in our league, but he's listed as owned by <1% on the forecast article. Is the author using current information?
I have no idea if the projections on the "start/bench tool" are any better than Yahoo!'s or how they're derived.
So what should I be doing to get the maximum value from my user fee? Right now, it seems like using Yahoo! has been worth more since it's free:-) I'm using "myhuddle." I am in no way blaming this site for my bad record. Just trying to figure out how best to utilize it. Hopefully, the draft tools here are a big advantage (I joined after my team was auto-drafted).
I should add that this is my first year playing fantasy football in a looooong time, like 20 years. I have Demarco Murray and Drew Brees (backed up by Kaepernick, natch, and now Flacco) which is a big part of my problem and why I'm 0-3 looking at 0-4.
