  2. WOW!!! How did I miss this last year? I was wondering why a Vikings fan had the whole feeling inferior to the Packers sig line....I just thought it was a logical and honest Vikings fan....now I know the truth !!! Count me in for the Packers.

  4. I don't have a link, but IIRC, when LJ first started doing the symbol, it was referred to as the "Diamond Cutter". Jay-Z has a clothing line that features the "Diamond Cutter", and I believe that LJ was going to sign with them. When Reebok found out that a player was promoting a symbol on apparel by another company, they freaked out. I think that is when LJ came up with the initials explanation. Also, if anyone cares, it was first conceived by wrestler Diamond Dallas Page, and he's trying to sue, for copyright infringement, anyone who uses the "Diamond Cutter" sign. Also, I believe there is a zero % chance that LJ will be traded.
  5. Colts Win: Adam Vinatieri (It really is hard to imagine that Peyton wouldn't get it, but I think that Vinatieri does not get the credit he deserves for helping those NE superbowl teams win. Also, he is 11/11 in this post-season, including a 51 yarder.) Bears Win: Brian Ulracher (He is the face of that franchise and, much like Peyton for the colts, it would be hard to imagine that he wouldn't get it.)
  6. Arghh!!!! Please don't let this happen. There has to be someone better out there. Just ask Jets fans about him. I had C-mart on my fantasy teams while he was with them, and saw some of their games. The offense was very predictable. I would much rather have Philbin, who at least got the o-line playing like a cohesive unit this year. The best thing you can say about him is his qb development, but his latest work (Simms) played awfully this year before his injury. If they name him offensive coord. I will be doing this .
  7. I think you're right. Barring a significant injury, Manning's a lock to own the record books. IMO, Favre is the toughest player in the league, but Manning is right up there. Manning won't miss any games unless he's unable crawl into the huddle. Favre will get the TD and the INT record this year, and I think he will retire amid much speculation and hoopla before the beginning of next season. And yes, I think he cares about the TD record. Who wouldn't?

  11. You implied that Favre may be waiting to get his bonus before he retired. I simply told you that as someone who has closely followed his career, I can tell you that he has more integrity than that. I've already stated that I believe Favre will not retire this year. I also stated that Thompson and the Favre family are keeping in contact with each other. Favre and Thompson both know a lot more about this situation than they are letting the media and either one of us know. They will both do the right thing with regard to the team.
  12. This is some good info. From what I've heard and read, Thompson and the Favre family are in contact on a regular basis. There isn't a doubt in my mind that he's coming back this year. As far as being "cut", I completely agree with you that Brett would know about it. A lot of teams "cut" players and then re-signed them at later date. When this happens, I'm almost certain that the player and the team work it out prior to the "cut". FWIW, I would be shocked if this scenario plays out. The Packers have enough respect for him to do right by him, and he has enough respect for the Packers to do right by them. I think he stays and has a great year. You are obviously not a Packer fan. Take it from someone who has watched and followed his whole career: he would never do that.
  13. I don't think he was given a good shot to succeed in that offense. Only three times did Jackson have 20 or more carries. Two of those times he rushed for over 100 yards, including a 179 yard effort against a stout Jacksonville defense. He missed the last game of the year, but I think that was due to the fact that the Rams weren't going anywhere and there was no point for him to play. I don't mean this to criticize your opinion at all, and no one is "right". This is just my opinion of the some of the guys you mentioned. I'm not saying Jackson is going to be a top 10 back next year, but in my performance league this year he was #9 and that was with him missing the last game. I think he can be a top ten back in the right system. I think the new HC will use his talents a little bit more effectively than did Martz.
  14. Sigh...it's sad when this is all we have to brag about.... Big John, can you talk to Brett and convince him to come back for one more?
  15. I've seen some Hawks' fans bash him and even say they would like it if he left...I don't understand this line of thinking. I think he stays. The owner is too smart to let him leave, and Holmgren realizes that Alexander is the main ingredient to the success of that franchise.
