  1. Do people think before they speak. Obviously not mr. "i have 4,500 posts i know what i'm talking about". First of all Miami should be ok on defense they won't plummet. They were a bit above par last year and should be par this year jsut because they lost a good cb and a decent safety. Miami's DTS: keith traylor who STARTED 10 GAMES FOR THE WORLD CHAMPION NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS AND IS STILL CONSIDERED A TRUE NOSE TACKLE! larry chester who ALTHOUGH MISSED ALMOST ALL YEAR IS ONLY 28 AND STARTED FOR BOTH CAROLINA AND MIAMI IN HIS CAREER jeff zgonia who had big year last year (63 tackles for a nose tackle is impressive so i 5 sacks) who is the cb who can't start for any other team? oh is that the reggie howard who started for the nfc champion panthers a 2 years ago? it would make more sense to do some research before screaming your head off from an ignorant standpoint Channing Crowder should have been a midfirst round pick he should start from day 1 with seau and thomas
  2. you guys are kind of dumb. HInes played in 16 games and had only 1004 yards adn 4 td's. Michael clayton as a rookie had way better numbers in both categories. And if you watched pittsburgh nobody double teamed him. When they played the ravens mcalister guarded burress. So go on overrating him if you like. He is a good receiver and a great blocker and his numbers should go up because of what some of you were saying earlier, but top 5? thats lunacy. He will be lucky to be top 15 in fantasy production this year.
  3. Hmm. I think this guy is a huge project. Yes, he's big and fast, but playing receiver in the NFL is tough. It usually takes guys who have played the position for a long time three years to cut it. what is antonio gates then?
  4. javon aint making shucks. Who cares if he signed hte contract 4 years back. He's not making shucks. Nfl contracts are differnet then the ones signed in other sports. Guys dont just chill like in baseball/basketballa nd collect 10 million. On the flip side if you are underpaid based on your performance you have every right to complain. Farve shouldn't say anything. He's really well paid. If farve was making a half a mill adn complained fans would be jumping up and down and siding with him JAVON IS A MUCH BETTER RECEIVER THAN FARVE IS A QUATERBACK RIGHT NOW BUT MAKES about 20 times less than farve tell him to go fck himself javon. oh and people complain all the time and get what they want but it doens't work for receivers that often but moss and coles both got new contracts marcus stroud, shaun rogers and kris jenkins all complained and got paid! i guess dt's are more important than loud mouth wr's
  5. He's in a similar situation as Michael Clayton - there is no other WR to throw to....however, there's a number of players I'd project as a star before Clayton you're right bro he just has the fkucing guy who led all receivers in receptions across from him
  6. he has is eye on derrick johnson. THe guy can play. As a sophomore vs lsu DJ led his team in tackles and had an int. Saban knows all about this guy and how he is hte most talented guy in the draft. If saban can move down adn get his precious 2nd round pick (or high 3rd) he'll do it in a heartbeat and grab DJ Miami lost starter greenwood and seau is mad old and coming off of an injury. zach thomas may only have 2 years left too. Imagine jason taylor and DJ together thats sick. Saban knows ricky even with all the bullshucks is better than cadillac, ronnie and benson ricky in his prime had ronnie's speed and hands, cadillacs elusiveness and bensons power
  7. its true every team wants to claim that they're comfortable with their back but many still wish for an upgrade. Alot of the confusion is created by a teams desire for a back that fits their system. Priest holmes and brian westbrook may not be as dominant in other systems but can anyone deny that they are not top 10 backs? Thats why personnel people are all over the place are arguing backs are great (meaning they fit a system) i would argue these are the top 10 running backs in the nfl based on a formula including both production and potential. I tried to remove the system from the player which leads us to analyze only the running backs skills. But keep in mind if a system was built around a player such as westbrook adn holmes maybe thats an indicator of who is and who is not a great back: LT Priest Dillon Edge alexander westbrook barber deuce j lewis F taylor
  8. nice try swiss. Torry holt was as dominant in college as now. He still holds many acc records. You don't get drafted 6th by running a fast 40. He had 1600 yards his senior year in COLLEGE! You could tell david terrel would be a bum; look who he had around him: henson, anthony thomas, and about 4 nfl lineman. Holt had nada . But stallworth will be good someday. He was ill in college too. He's been hurt alot. He scored 8 td's as a rookie and had 764 yards and 5 td's last year with a bad hamstring. Peter Warrick played with a heisman winning qb and when weinke missed a game warrick had 1 catch for 7 yards. To predict pro success based on environmental factors discussed above usually works. But lets not forget nfl systems and surrounding talent dictate success as well.
  9. this is the most pathetic mock draft i have ever seen. The trades make absolutely no sense and the picks are even worse. Nice waste of time. Oh and the bears have so much cb depth that if they took a cb it would be like the chiefs drafting a first round runningback.
  10. i like that mock but smith will not fall to 18. People thought harrington could fall to 18 a couple of years ago but was selected 3rd. Nobody wants to pass on an elway or culpepper or even the way it looks now a brees. You need to squeeze smith in the top 10 somewhere. Especially since roethlisberger fell out of the top 10 and looks like a great pro player. Smith is a better prospect than roethlisberger and harrington. Some team will grab him. But well done mock. Light years ahead of the draft sharks nonsense
  11. This is a poor mock draft. Most of these picks don't make sense. Cornerbacks and receivers are always drafted higher during the real thing. Look at reggie williams and dunta robinson a year ago. To say that rolle adn pacman fall past the top 10 is ludicrous. Teams will be trading up to get them. Why would washington trade up to draft a receiver when they have moss as the top guy and 2 first round picks (jacobs and gardner) on board and run first philosphy. explain a cb pick by the bengals when madieu williams and ratliff were drafted high last year and look pretty good? KC is not drafting offense. And atlanta trading up to take a tackle? Jamall brown is big. Alex gibbs likes lean lineman. lets not forget vick is lefty so and the falcs invested alot in wiener on the right side because he's a good pass blocker. THey don't need a good left tackle then need safety bad. They would not pass on thomas davis. there's more nonsense to come. Merriman to the cardinals? why when karlos dansby plays the same position. Cards alread have berry and okefer as solid ends. By the way white de's suck. Cody will not be the 12 pick. Justin smith and mike mamula were top 10 picks. While one is totally out of the nfl the other is a disappointment.
  12. Unlike MLB and NBA contracts, NFL contracts are not guaranteed. If Gates goes out and has a career ending injury, that's it. He won't get paid for any other years. I have zero problem with a player re-negotiating once word. He has every right to sit out if he feels neglected. He isn't pulling a baron davis who has 20 million coming to him regardless if it takes him 3 weeks to return from an ankle injury. If gates blew out his knee in the first game of 2005 he woudl only have the $250,000 he made and would have to go bag groceries. I'm sure his agent has already mentioned this to him. He should be getting top 5 tight end money. He was their best player last year no doubt (jesse chatman proved that tomlinson isn't the greatest player int he world by averaging 6.0 yards a carry, scoring 3 t'ds and totaling 400 yards on the season.) If i was AJ smith i would be signign him to a 6 year extension and throwing him a 10 million signing bonus right now. Its not like he's goign to suck next year. The guy doesnt' even know waht he's doing yet and is still the best tightend in the nfl
  13. yeah exactly - but champ bailey didn't exactly destroy receivers - maybe he benefitted from a system as well. Shawn Springs had a better year than bailey laste year. Anyway, Lee Suggs is a good back but droughns is just ok. I bet you lee wins the competition outright. Browns already have the illest FB in teh game terrel smith DJohnson is legit. That woudl be a great pickup for them. I don't u dnerstand why they want a receiver. They ahve a solid trio in davis, bryant and northcut. They have a solid d-lineman in jason fisk, kenard lang and orpheous roye - they gave up just backups. They do need some depth. All Cleveland needs are safeties and standout players and DJ can be that guy. They should draft a safety in the top of the 2nd round
  14. a few things to consider. First of all its not a sign of a good cb if he makes a lot of tackles. That means his receiver is catchign the ball more often than not. It doens't mean he's dominant in run support. Renaldo hill on the cardinals had 80 tackles one year does that make him a great cb? NO Courtney brown and gerard warren are decent pickups. Warren not as much because alteast brown has a new incentive laden contract. Warren has 2 years left on his big contract. If these guys ever realize their potential (which is quite possible considering denver has much more talent on D and a much better O to keep the d off the field) Atleast these acquisitions were low risk unlike the browns who drafted them thinking they woudl be studs but pretty much either sucked or got hurt.
  15. braylon edwards is not worth the first pick you idiots - he's a michigan receiver! david terrel, marquis walker, desmond howard, tai streets - name one who excelled. i believe edwards will be by far the best of this group but still not worth the top pick. michigan receivers are alomst as bad as gator receivers turning pro
