  1. I have not drafted a RB in the first four rounds in 6 years. This year I went: QB, TE, WR, WR, WR first five rounds, then heavied up with RB rounds 6-10. This is a 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1DEF starter league with no flex, no ppr and heavy on bonuses. I am 5-2 and leading the league in scoring. Brees Bradshaw and LT (T.Jones filling in during byes) Roddy White, TO, Welker, L.Moore Finley (now HMiller) Years past I have gone WR, WR, WR, RB and even WR, WR, WR, WR - with moderate to large success.
  2. OK, I was born in 1960 in Wisconsin. Does that make me an "old timer"?? Regardless, I have been playing Fantasy Football since 1985 when I was the commish and calculated the results by hand off the local newspapers late Sunday night and Tuesday morning. I have definitely noticed an increase in injuries over the decades. The players are bigger, faster and the game itself is much more brutal. Guys simply didn't hit as hard 10, 20, 30 years ago. A previous posted stated something I consider valid about some injuries not being reported and another mentioned the internet brining a microscope to the information but still, in my experience injuries have been rising for decades. Concussions particularly. Are the contemporary helmuts defecrive? I suspect that contemporary diets lack the nutrients (esp. calcium) to protect the young folks playing the game. Just my 2c.
  3. @MrTed46 Right on dude. Daylight P.S. Are you tosberg34?
  4. @kingfish247 "it's just not a profession or position that lends itself to creative or critical thinking" ... and yet Mike McCarthy is one of the brightest creative offensive minds in professional football today. It's the reason TT hired him in the first place. It's the reason the GBP offense is universally thought of as Elite. Never give up. Never give your players the impression of giving up. I have seen numerous times where a simple up the middle running play results in a turnover, both in the NFL and the USFL. I have seen so many "automatic" field goal attempts end in blocks and/or returns (sometimes for touchdowns). Better to stay aggressive on a single play at the end of the game against all odds - it bodes well for the rest of the season. Life long GBP homer here with no issues on the HC at the end.
  5. Yea, tosberg34 oh yea. Daylight here, your Packers-Fan from Milwaukee and official (but friendly) nemesis. What you describe is not *exactly* how it happened. Brees at 1.4 (that was me) - Money in the Bank - other than possibly Rogers, no-one is more a sure thing in fantasy more than Drew - that's why I took him. Peyton also but he just looked rattled agains our Packers. This is a 6 pt per TD for QBs league and a top tier QB makes a huge difference. As for Finley - IMHO - the progression is solid and mouth-watering : Thompson-McCarthy-Rogers and now Finley: Money in the Bank. I knew my Fellow Packers Homies would be after Finley and drafting in the 4th spot my only chance to get him was 2.8 or 3.4 - no way I am letting that slip through my fingers - in addition I like to shake things up a bit - so I pulled the trigger early to get the issue settled (for me) and UN-settle things for everyone else (especially you and Max) - and it worked. You did not ask me WHY I drafted Finley in the 2nd. You stated, and I quote, "When you drafted Finley in the 2nd that screwed up my entire draft". End Quote. Mission accomplished: I got my guy and sent you scrambling! Sweet! Look, in a league awarding 6 pts per TD to QBs and starting 3 WRs, it is passing heavy. Locking in Money at QB/TE opens up roster spots to pick up FAs along the way (often more important than the draft). And remember, it doesn't matter who (or what position) you draft where if all your picks are golden. Idealistic maybe, but you do your research and there are starters to be found all 16 rounds - I try to answer questions early while everyone else plays the "value game". Hope that made sense, if not, criticize away! Daylight
  6. agree with vonromig. If the rankings included going back to 1960 - creation of the AFL - and starting year for the Cowboys - it would look quite different. and yes, I am a GB homer.
  7. Who has been starting in his place during pre-season? R.Williams? J.Anderson? Or did they move Wade or Roby over to the other side?
  8. Did a search on the forums, cannot find any news. nfl.com stats shows he did not catch a pass all summer. What's up with him? Injured? Status? Apologies if the topic has been covered already. Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks McBoog - that is what I was looking for. We draft in 2 hours...
  10. I have not heard anything since Thursday on Gates hamstring. Charger fans: any update? All I heard was he left practice early on Wed.
