  1. I'm interested in creating a keeper league with an auction draft. A friend, who's pretty smart and open minded, believes that auctions an keepers wouldn't work because he's only seen keepers done with a snake draft. Was hoping that people could share thoughts on that combo (Keepers + auction) either positive or negative. If anyone's been in that type of league - I'd love any particulars you can share. Conversely, if there are clear reasons these two combos would fail --- please save me the headache. thanks.
  2. Just wondering - has anyone seen this story mentioned on ESPN or their site? It's from nfl.com - and I've seen SI and profootball talk mention it - but I've missed any talk or coverage of it on ESPN. Someone's NFL's source is pretty far off base here. Rapoport's saying he's been told that only 1 ball was 2PSI under / I'm pretty sure the initial reports from ESPN (Mort?) were that 11 of the 12 balls were 2 PSI under. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000466783/article/more-details-on-the-investigation-of-patriots-deflated-footballs We'll need to wait for the Wells' report to actually know what the NFL has figured out. Somehow I doubt we'll get answers that anyone feels is complete.
  3. Not a Carroll apologist - I'm asking because I'm not sure. Most likely, I'm just exposing my ignorance about how long it takes to execute a typical uptempo run play. With 20 seconds and 1 timeout left -- is that plenty of time to execute 3 running plays? or would it have been pretty tight? it was clear from his comments that Carrol didn't like the personnel match-up (3WRs out against NE's goal line D). Maybe he thought a running play there (without the match-up they wanted) would've taken too much time away -- instead of the quick slant. Maybe he thought stopping the clock was worth the added risk a pass play involves? Obviously, it blew up - I'm just trying to figure out what they were thinking. Insane ending going from the Kearse catch to that interception two plays later.
  4. Complete overhaul. By week 16 only 3 of my 21 drafted players remained. Bell and Gronkowski started both weeks. Hilton was still on my roster - just couldn't go week 16. (Bell and Allen were both keepers) Week 1: QB - Peyton Manning (traded) WR - Keenan Allen (traded) WR - Colston (dropped) WR - TY Hilton (injured week 16) RB - Leveon Bell RB - Doug Martin (traded) TE - Gronkowski Flex - Jordan Cameron (dropped) K - Parkey (dropped) mid oct: traded Peyton Manning + Doug Martin for Alshon Jeffrey + Philip Rivers late sep: traded Keenan Allen + Ahmad Bradshaw for Khiry Robinson + Jordy Nelson Week 16: QB - Alex Smith (ww) WR - Alshon Jeffrey (part of Manning Trade) WR - Jordy Nelson (part of Keenan Allen Trade) WR - Odell Beckham (ww) RB - Leveon Bell RB - Justin Forsett (ww) TE - Gronkowski Flex - Mark Ingram (ww) K - Bryant (ww)
  5. Have seen exactly what you're talking about DMD. I don't know if the injuries are actually worse this year --- what seems aberrant / almost impossible --- is to have so many injuries that really didn't produce the waiver wire gems of the past. I feel like all of the guys who have benefitted from injury --- were most likely players who were drafted as part of a timeshare to begin with.
  6. I'm really looking forward to seeing this match-up. Talib is definitely one of the tougher match-ups Gronk could face - but I think it will be tougher for Talib to shut Gronk down than it was for him to shut down Graham. Both Graham and Gronk are great - and picking differences in their game is definitely splitting hairs. I do think Gronk has more power than Graham -- or, if not power, more of a willingness to mix it up -- that will suit him better for dealing with a physical corner like Talib. I know that's a tough thing to quantify - but Gronk's generally regarded as a very strong run blocker, whereas that's probably the one area Graham wouldn't be considered elite. I'm not sure if they'll actually put Talib on Gronk for the full game - but it would be an awesome match-up to watch. With the focus being on Gronk and Lafell -- this could be a bounce back day for Edelman and Vereen. I can't remember for sure, a Sains fan would probably remember better, but at the time Talib faced Graham, he might've already been playing through his high ankle sprain.
  7. Not clear if there's any sort of ppr. Keep Tate. Bench Wallace for Ingram or bell. I'd lean Ingram - he was doing well early splitting carries and now Thomas and Robinson are out. Great match up at home - desperate to win. Plus should be a high scoring game.
  8. Ingram. Better match up - not dealing with a new QB - he had great games when there were more guys splitting carries.
  9. Mason - he's looked good rushing the ball. Morris has been slumping, McCoy is getting his first start, Dallas will do their best to dominate time of possession.
  10. Starter for flex. No PPR. Cadet vs GB (Robinson and Thomas out) Garçon @ Dallas - McCoy starting Sankey vs Houston - Cushing out at LB, but rookie QBS plus Greene might play. Crowell vs Oakland - last week a mess without Mack Thanks for any help. May the fantasy gods have mercy on us all.
  11. Regarding Brown and his potential usage. The coaches kept decreasing Spiler's carries this year because he was pressing too much and always trying to hit the home run. Instead of taking the 3 yards when he it was there - he'd try to break it outside. The issues the coaches were having with Spiller - seem reminiscent of Brown's time in Philly plus the ball security issues. I think everyone agrees that Brown is the more interesting talent - but the coaching staff might view Dixon as the better fit because he's not trying to bounce everything to the outside. The above conjecture might be completely off base -- but they seemed so frustrated with Spiller - that if they had been happy with Brown, or thought he would've been better, I think that he would've got some carries just to see how he'd do. ETA: but maybe i'm underestimating how tough it would've been to activate him considering his lack of special teams contribution. It just seems that the way Spiller was struggling, that they would've found a way to test-drive Brown in a game situation if they thought he'd be the answer.
  12. Agreed. McCoy should improve once his lineman start coming back from injury / suspension. He should have a better match-up this week against STL considering their defensive injuries. Cobb has been heavily involved with GB so far. Even if DT picks it up - with all of Denver's receiving weapons, I don't think he's going to have a season that greatly outperforms cobb's. with Foster's lingering hamstring issues - I'd be happy to move him. All trades have risk, of course, but that seems to be one of the best you can expect. If you're still hesitating, you should probably just hold. I do think DT will come around -- but I like swapping Foster for McCoy -- I'm probably overly conservative when it comes to lingering hamstring injuries in older RBs.
  13. C.J. Spiller rushed 10 times for 25 yards and caught 3 passes for 37 yards against the Chargers.

Advice: Spiller had a long-run called back early in the game, but struggled to find running room all day. The Bills insist on using Spiller as a between-the-tackles runner instead of getting him involved in space. As long as that continues, Spiller will remain nothing more than a high-upside RB2/FLEX. The highlighted part of the above quote pulled from rotoworld feels like a common refrain I keep hearing about CJ Spiller everytime his name comes up. I haven't watched a full Buffalo game this year, and don't really follow them in the offseason - but I've hear this criticism enough times that I'm guessing there's some truth to it. Just wondering from the Bill's fans perspective --- is the team misusing Spiller --- or is this a case of fantasy fans only looking at things from a fantasy perspective? What's confusing is that Marrone specifically put Spiller on kick offs because he needs to get the ball in space more - yet, for some reason his carries are all between the tackles. This disconnect hurts my weak football mind like when Lovie Smith keeps kicking to Devin Hester. I'm sure there's a reason, but I only see madness. Please, Huddlers, help me understand. Is it as simple as Doug Marrone can't devise a play designed to get a RB into space…or is there more to this?
  14. If I view two players as even -- I would favor the Monday night game. It seems like some players excel more on the national stage. I'll also see if the betting lines for one game has a higher over/under - or see if there are any prop bets on the two players that makes it seem like Vegas expects a bigger day from one of the players.
  15. It would make sense for them to handle it that way. thanks for the info.
