Years ago, before using web sites, all add/drops had to go thru the commish. There was no waiver process and he would pick-up the dropped player without any other team knowing the player was dropped. He really "worked on" owners, that did not know FFB very well, in the first week or two of the season. He'd convice an owner that Bo Jackson or Hershael Walker was "going down hill" if they had a bad first game. then tell them "joe-blow" third stringer (who maybe had 1 carry for 89 yards and a TD) was a stud in the making....thus the owner would drop the franchise player and he'd pick up the E Smiths, Bo's and Walkers.....leaving the owner to never see that picked-up player carry the ball again all season. He'd even go as far as trading players that were on the free agent list that were not picked up by him yet. If he made a trade, he'd pick up the free agent and trade him away. I also liked his "shot-gun" approach trades...trade away 4 crap players for 1 stud....convincing a rookie owner.
