whomper Posted December 6, 2007 Author Share Posted December 6, 2007 (edited) So the Express portion of our trip ended yesterday and I would say it was a success..We learned a lot over the past 2 days about the methods of their company and it is info that will be useful to us..Yesterday morning they had an overview of their womans line for 2008 and we were very happy to see they listed Lace ,which is predominantly what we sell, as a key fabrication for them..After the meetings we set up and for 6 hours everyone got to show their product..This was pretty weird because almost every booth sat around for about 5 hours until the merchants made their way to you if your product was relevant to their divisions..We were basically here with 1 key woman in mind and we were happy when she came to our booth with about 5 other people including her boss..She loved our line and told her boss 2 times how much we are her # 1 stop for lace and how we are a company that she loves top work with..The boss said she was with her all day and didnt hear her say that about anyone..Today we see abercrombie at 10 and then we fly out about 4. Â As I mentioned earlier part of the plans in this trip for me was to meet Bunz. So 2 nights ago I gave her a call and we had a great conversation for almost an hour. After that talk I knew when we met neither of us would be at a loss for words because the conversation just flowed..We decided to meet at my hotel lobby lounge after I had dinner with my boss and 2 other guys that my boss knew. the timing worked great . We cabbed it back from the restaurant and I knew Bunz would be at the lobby already..As soon as I walked in we both knew who the other person was imediately..I honestly can say that I dont think I have ever met a more outgoing, friendly and genuine person in my life..We talked and had drinks for over 2 hours and the conversation never slowed down for a second..I absolutley loved hanging with Bunz and it seems we are going to be doing this trip every year which means there will be more opportunities to get together in the future and I really look forward to that..In true huddler form we did the huddle proud..We closed the bar The night before I explained the huddle to my boss a little bit and I told him I was going to meet Bunz..He was fascinated by the whole concept of our internet community here and how we take it way beyond a message board in a lot of cases..I was glad he too got a chance to meet Bunz and also had a great conversation with her..He was very impressed with how warm and easy to talk to Bunz is . She truly has an incredible personality..Thanks again for stopping by Bunz I have heard many people on the boards say you are a special person and I agreed with that before I met you but last night just confirmed all the great things I have heard about you.. Nice lounge.....GREAT conversation....and now I'm only sorry that we didn't get together all 3 nights you were here! Next time....count on it! You're right...in true Huddle fashion, we closed down the bar.....LOL. But that's not saying much in Columbus compared to the East Coast. They roll the carpets up around 12:30am during the week around here. Anything open later during the week would have been a sort of scary dive bar I imagine. Uhhh...not that I would know anything about that. Â For those of you who've never had the pleasure....Whomp is just a warm, giggly guy. LOVE the ponytail....it suits you! Fashion forward.....easy to talk to like you've known each other since High School. And I think it would be impossible to get two Italians in a room and NOT have them chatter on and on nonstop....LOL. People are drawn to you, man. And that's a wonderful quality. Well.....except when it's a lone vendor, who's name you can't remember, joining our conversation out of the blue and trying to get us to go find another bar to drink in for a few more hours. LOL....dude was funny, but I think he was looking for WAY more fun than we'd have been able to provide. Uhhhh.....did you join him in his room to watch the movie? Â I'm so glad you brought your boss along. He seems like a cool guy to work with and I enjoyed meeting him! But I could hear it in your voice on the phone the other night....sort of hard to explain the phenomenon of The Huddle.....isn't it? The whole "online friends" thing and fantasy football and being more of a community than just another message board....but I think you might have hooked another newbie Huddler there. I wouldn't be surprised if he asked to get in a league next year! And tell him for me not to beat himself up too long for not being home this week. You know what I'm talking about. RIP Doc....and we'll have to find him an "Australian Ridgeback" puppy for Christmas. Pure pedigree....of course. MUCH better than those Rhodesians.....I'm sure. Â Man....you were in MY town. You should've let me buy the drinks at least. We DID talk business.....so write off that tab.....LOL. Â Whomp.....it was a pleasure!! I'd be tickled to death if we could make this at least an annual thing. I kept MrBunz up another half hour chattering about meeting The Whomp. My meatloaf really puts the poor guy in a coma for the night....sorry about that. Next time. We'll find a couple more bars and restaurants to close down. Â Edit: In other business trip news, I was delayed out of Austin yesterday and got into Chicago JUST in time to make my connecting flight. A flight that was held back while on the runway in Chicago. Where we waited for 2 hours. Â Got into Philly, where it was snowing. Now, I'm a born-and-raised southern Californian kid that was never into skiing, so I have seen snow up close maybe 6-7 times. If that. Driving in it was a whole 'nother story. Finally made my way down to Ocean City, MD. And wouldn't you know it, the bar/restaurant me and my co-worker buddy love was set to close at 10pm. Heck, I had made my hotel reservation (there's a Holiday Inn Express right next door) based on going to that place for a few beers! Anyways, found an alternative and had a decent evening. Early morning today and am now at the airport headed for Orlando. With any luck I'll have a bit more of an enjoyable time tonight. Two projects to inspect tomorrow before heading home. It's fairly rare for this town to see that much at one time really. Some weird thermal bubble over the city.....LOL. Bad weather races east toward us down I-70...then sort of splits off, heading north and south of us mostly. But I'm a good snow driver.....LOL. I wasn't going to let a little snow keep me from heading downtown to meet The Whomp! Â Geeze....I hope Whomp isn't stuck in the airport this evening with delayed flights trying to catch up from yesterday. Usually when that happens around here, the delays generally clear up by about noon the next day (today)....but I didn't check to see how much snow they got East of us.
