The Weather Channel is having a "Capture the Fall" photography contest and I was thinking of sending in a picture. I am looking for opinions on if this picture would be a good representation of capturing fall?

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2472/406165...525cbdb03_o.jpg

I took this picture 2 Octobers ago and the colors in the background bokeh are from the leaves that had changed color.

Any and all comments, criticisms and opinions are appreciated

EDIT: doh.gif this was supposed to be in the Photography Forum doh.gif
well still feel free to comment

Very cool pic - seems a bit blurry but I am no picture expert.

Can't you photoshop in a topless chick in the background? If it was two years ago you may be able to find an older Pam Anderson pic when she still looked decent???

It's a great picture.

I know it was taken on October 2nd but for some reason, to me, the picture says warm weather. My experience with needle trees is east texas and living in Oregon and California. The tree the bird is on looks burnt up from the summer heat so that's probably why it feels like a warm weather picture to me.

if you are talking about the background color(leaves) being blurry that is bokeh: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/bokeh.htm

Nice pic, but can you crop a little tighter, minimizing the background more?
Another thing is check the contest rules very closely. Many of them make you give up all rights to the photo, allowing them to take ownership.

Kinky is using a feather.
Perverted is using the whole chicken.

I would enter it, what the hell.

I think it is a bit over sharpened and the focal point is more on the right side
(branches) than on the bird, just slightly
Also, the birds (mockingbird?) 'pose' isn't all that flattering with the head
tilted and the feathers/wing a bit ruffled.

I like the overall composition....maybe try to bring down the levels a bit and the sharpness

the only post processing I did on the pic was on the birds chest because it was a tiny bit blown out....otherwise as far as I can remember that is as shot
