Day 1:

I didn't want to spend $18 on defenses--I figured that somebody would bid a little bit more for the Patriots, but oh well, I'll take them. (I'll also trade one of them in case somebody is interested).

I paid about $2 more than I wanted to for Brandon Jacobs, but that was a pick with an eye to the long-term future.

Day one:
I way over paid for Mr. Favre.
But I was sick of having average QB's last year.
Big Palooka
No deals for me, but I like my depth at RB and WR.
DO Jaded
Picked up Boldin, Witten, Wilkins and my backup D for decent prices. Got stripped of all my other RBs though. sad.gif
Hitman
I'll be lucky to field a full team with what I spent on Edge. unsure.gif I did like getting D. Foster for 10. Looks like I'll be thin at all positions. Gotta find a few guys for $2. g-thinking.gif
paulzale
I've got plenty of QB's and DEF's, I am interested in dealing for WR, TE, and RB's let me know.....
Clubfoothead
As usual, I have no idea.

What, this isn't ebay?

I'm not understanding the under the cap number combined with the Currently have blank/16 for $X/#240. I probably also overpaid to keep McAllister g-shrug.gif But I'm still putting together the best team I've at least ever drafted in this league, IMHO.

All 16 roster spots take up $2 even if you haven't filled them all yet (since $2 is the minimum bet). So suppose you only had signed 1 player for a salary of $6, you would still have $6 + 15*$2 = $36 marked down as being spent. (does that help)

This uninterested observer applauds Bleeding Cream and Crimson for sneaking Bettis through for $10 and The Fu King Kings for getting Kennison for $12.

Or, I will in half an hour, at least.

g-doah.gif now that I've had three Crown and Cokes the cavalry arrives. I appreciate yer attempt to help me; however.

So does that mean that by looking at that number that is how much I have left under the cap, assuming I sign the rest of the players I'm bidding on for $2.00 each, I can subtract the amount I've bid on each player over $2.00 from the amount I have left to determine my cap status?

Short version would be does the computer prevent me from being over the cap somehow?

Short answer would be "yes"; you start the auction with $32 against the cap.

So I can trust the figure the display tells me I'm under the cap because it assume's I've spent $32.00 more than I actually have?

It's a simple calculation of x+y=z divided by a-x+h+d-lmnop, of course you have to take into consideration the speed at which the earth turns divided by it's distance from the sun....

Well, now that my roster is set, I feel able to give my thoughts on things:
QUOTE
Culpepper, Daunte    MIN    5        $53
Hasselbeck, Matt    SEA    8        $16

Pretty happy with this; I DO expect Pep to fall off a bit but I'd be surprised if he doesn't manage a top 3 or 4 season. Hass may have been a bit pricey for a backup, but he's a QB who could very well be counted on to be a #1 in his own right.

QUOTE
Barlow, Kevan    SFO    6        $12
Bettis, Jerome    PIT    4        $16
Arrington, J.J.    ARI    6        $43

Really would have liked a little more cheese here. Overpaid for Arrington and don't love Barlow, but may pan out. Bettis is nice depth/starter until Duce gets back. Could be worse....
QUOTE
Battle, Arnaz    SFO    6        $2
Ferguson, Robert    GBP    6        $2
Johnson, Chad    CIN    10        $28
Moulds, Eric    BUF    9        $10
Toomer, Amani    NYG    5        $5

Battle and Ferg were pretty well low-cost stabs in the dark; someone has to catch the ball in SF and Ferguson could top some #2s as a #3 in GB - value skyrockets if he goes to Philly. Johnson is the stud, and hopefully one of Moulds/Toomer pans out to their past performance to give me a solid 2.

QUOTE
Gates, Antonio    SDC    10        $7
Jolley, Doug    NYJ    8        $3
Rackers, Neil    ARI    6        $2
Denver DEF    DEN    9        $2

Gates' holdout is troubling, but I really like Jolley in Heimerdinger's O with Pennington throwing to him. Everyone is predicting big things for the Az offense, but no one wants to draft a big-legged kicker who has 8 games in perfect weather + 3 road dome games g-shrug.gif - happy to have him on the cheap. Den's D has great LBs and a re-dedicated Champ Bailey, though I'm not a fan of rebuilding your DL with Browns. Price was right, though.
tonyr0802
Ok...I'll play...

QUOTE
1    QB    Green, Trent  KCC  5      $22
2    QB    Palmer, Carson  CIN  10  $21

Had a good starter already in Green, got caught up in bidding on Palmer and ended up overpaying for him. Should be set all year though in QB. Would entertain trade's for Palmer as well though if anyone's interested.

QUOTE
3    RB    Green, Ahman  GBP  6      $46
4    RB    Williams, Ricky  MIA  4      $17
5    RB    Benson, Cedric  CHI  4      $16
6    RB    Jones, Julius  DAL  9      $3

Kept JJ at great value, found Green to pair up with him for an excellent starting RB1/2 combo. If Cedric evre signs I'll feel much better about my bye coverage, hoping Ricky gets traded and pans out. Perhaps a little high on what I paid for Ricky.

QUOTE
7      WR    Horn, Joe  NOS  10      $31
8      WR    Kennison, Eddie  KCC  5      $12
9      WR    Porter, Jerry  OAK  5      $15
10    WR    Brown, Reggie  PHI  6      $2
11    WR    Colbert, Keary  CAR  7      $6

More than adequate here. Horn/Kennison/Porter should all be well worth what I paid. Colbert good value at $6 and Brown could prove to be a steal at $2 if he lands the WR2 spot opposite TO.

QUOTE
12    TE    Clark, Dallas  IND  8      $3
13    TE    Heap, Todd  BAL  3      $15

Need I say anything here? Both should prove to be top quality tight ends. Maybe spent a little high on Heap, but worth it I think.

QUOTE
14    K    Akers, David  PHI  6      $7

He's a kicker, what is there to say....

QUOTE
15    DF    Minnesota DEF  MIN  5      $3
16    DF    Pittsburgh DEF  PIT  4      $6

Pitt should be a solid D, if the hype on Minn proves to be true could be a steal at $3. If not then atleast a good bye cover.

Overall I think I've got a solid team here. Top 10 players at each position, don't underestimate the Fu King Kings...

Ah DAY 4 and my roster is complete

I am happy to be done so I can focus on my next draft Monday night.

I like my team, but am heavy on QB's and DEF and I did all this with cap room to spare!

I will be a little thin at RB during bye weeks, but am not too bad. I figure the DEF will just step up that week with a little coaching.

Good luck to all and remember, they don't call me High Score for nothing

QB's
1 QB Harrington, Joey DET 3 $7($7)
2 QB Warner, Kurt ARI 6 $8($8)

g-bash.gif Actually like this duo. They both have a ton of weapons, came fairly cheap. Should be able to play matchups.

RB's

3 RB Blaylock, Derrick NYJ 8 $8($8)
4 RB Henry, Travis TEN 10 $3($3)
5 RB Holmes, Priest KCC 5 $90($90)
6 RB Taylor, Fred JAC 7 $20($20)
7 RB Toefield, LaBrandon JAC 7 $7($7)

clap.gif A tandem of Priest and Fragile will keep me competitive, have Taylor's handcuff, but not priest's. Getting Henry for 3 bucks is great, he has to get a couple starts somewhere, and Cmart is overdue for some missed games. sneaky.gif Fantasy brings out the monster in all of us.

WR's

8 WR Burress, Plaxico NYG 5 $5($5)
9 WR Muhammad, Muhsin CHI 4 $7($7)
10 WR Smith, Jimmy JAC 7 $19($19)
11 WR Fitzgerald, Larry ARI 6 $18($18)

Spent more than what I wanted to on JSmith, maybe he has some fresh legs. Figure to use him and Fitz most weeks-- counting on the highpowered offenses of the Jags and Cards?! blink.gif

TE,K, D
12 TE Gonzalez, Tony KCC 5 $32($32)
13 K Longwell, Ryan GBP 6 $6($6)

Still have best TE in the game, and got him cheaper than if I had kept him. Longwell still one of the most accurate. Still workingon D, but after I missed out o nthe big boys, figure might as well take a stab in the dark. Will just rotate against bad offenses whoever is available. shades.gif

Green and Jones are solid - plus $49 for a starting RB tandem is a nice price. Lotsa risk with Ricky and Benson as your only depth, though.

Totally agree with your reasoning - not a big fan of starting a teams #2 (Porter), especially given Norv Turner's history, but I DO like Porter as a player and with him providing depth in a 3 WR rotation, it's a nice group. Not a fan of Brown really, and figure Colbert to be in a 2/2A situation with Gardner, but who knows who's going to manage to break out at WR? g-shrug.gif They're no worse than my blind guesses on my roster.

Not particularly sold on Clark, but as a cog in that Indy offense, you could do much worse. Love Heap, hate his QB, but he's been putting up solid #s with bad QBs for a few years now.

K and D - Akers is usually ranked among the elite and so is Pitt. Minny isn't a bad sleeper, considering they face the Chi and Det O's twice, plus Cle, Bal, and NYG - plus 2 games vs Favre, who can be erratic against them at times.

Not a knock-your-socks off roster (don't take that wrong, neither is mine) but should be competitive.

I've bet on CMart being due for a breakdown in the past; I'm still waiting. Holmes and Taylor should treat you well - I think both of their injury concerns are overstated. Having Iron Fred's handcuff is a nice play as well. If everything plays out according to Hoyle, you'll suffer on your bye weeks, but otherwise should be pretty solid - worst case scenario is Priest gets hurt and Martin and Brown DON'T.

Like both these guys. Having the game's best TE (or any top TE) is an overlooked advantage IMO - gives you chance to win a position matchup week in and week out. That is fantasy gold. Longwell is solid, proven, and consistent - maybe not great upside, but will get you decent pts every week.

Overall, too much risk for my taste, but could work out very well for you, especially if the Cards' O delivers. wacko.gif

Looking over the rosters, I'd have to put Bleeding Cream and Crimons (jbaber) and Hired Hits (DO Jaded) as the early favorites. But as Godfather (I think) said, it looks like a pretty balanced league.

I cannot look at the top WR combo's without beating myself upside my head on how I mismanaged the auction this year. Normally I am pretty good about having a plan and managing what I am doing, but this year I somewhat panicked about starting off so far in the hole after keeping Alexander and dropped out of the bidding too early on one or two decent WRs.

ugh

on the other hand, I do have that great defensive combo unsure.gif

I don't have the best QBs in the league. Newsflash I've never had the best QBs in the league. All I'm ever looking for are top 10 guys. One of these two will be by the end of the season. If you've been following me on the message boards, you know I believe both will be. Boller is one year away from greatness but I"ll be able to keep him cheap. Delhomme is a poor man's Tom Brady.

RB    Anderson, Mike  DEN        $17($17)
RB    McAllister, Deuce  NOS        $90($90)
RB    Bell, Tatum  DEN      $17($17)

The weakest spot on my team, IMHO. First off, I've got 8 weeks to worry about the bye so I'm not that concerned. McAllister is what he is. I would never get involved in the Den RB situationin a draft but in an auction I took my chances. $34.00 for the pair was thrilling but I'm going to be busy now.

What really screwed me up was having bidding on Anderson and Blaylock at the same time. Apparently I'm the only one who thinks Martin might miss a few games. Problem is, I had to have Anderson. About 30 seconds after securing Tatum Bell I got the news Mike Anderson would be the week one starter. A sign of things to come. AT this point I was also stuck in the Denver RB mess so I had to let players like Heap fall off the board because I didn't know how high the bidding would get for Anderson. I was concernec somebody was goging to run up the price knowing I had to have him. At least if a RB emerges in Denver I've got like a 33% chance of already having him on my roster.

I was very supriosed to have been out-bid on Ricky Williams and Blaylock.

WR    Clayton, Mark  BAL  3      $2($2)

The strength of my team. I've got my two favorite WRs in the NFL right now, both of whom, I believe have yet to see their best days. I love Walker and what I've heard about how he handled the hold-out and about how he needs to start playing mad.

I hate Miami but I've loved Johnson since he was in college and I believe that Clayton is the best WR of the 2004 class. I've also got a hunch about Glenn being back with Bledsoe. If not Keyshaw is a fine #3.

In addition I drafted 2 TEs, 2 kickers and 2 St/D.

May not be the best team ever, but for me, in this league, it is easily the best team I've ever put together.

12 TE Clark, Desmond CHI 4 $2($2)
13 TE Franks, Bubba GBP 6 $5($5)

  1     QB     Carr, David   HOU   3       $4($4)

Nothing spectacular here, but enough power to win this part of the battle more often than I lose it.

Any interest in parting with a TE or WR for a top-3 defense?

I might be willing to let Reggie Williams go.

I'll pass on that. (but thanks)

I am done biggrin.gif

Early indications are the guys that bleed cream and crimson look good g-coach.gif

Well, Here are my thoughts:

QB's-A nice bunch-They should do just fine. Not top three but not bottom three.

Favre-$31-A bit pricy for the old QB but I say he finishes near the top in TD passes
behind Manning (40+), C-pepp/McNabb (33+). Favre=30+ TD's.
Griese-$5-Got him for one week when Favre is on BYE.

RB's-I am with the thoughts that this group is #2 in the Family behind Alex/Dillon.

Jamal-$65-I think he will contend for the rushing title but his TD's will not be near LT,
Alexander, and KC-stiuation. I like the former prisoner.
Dom Davis-$4-Love the price and would take him as a #1 in a 12 team
league....oh yeah, he is my #2.

I am more than satisfied with these 2.

Suggs-$15-Just need him in week #3. Had a couple of decent showings toward the
end of last year. Could be RBBC in Clev. g-bash.gif
T. Jones-$10-The starter in Chitown for now.

WR's-Could turn out to be the BEST part of the crimson.

Holt-$29-Top 5 WR on every list I have seen. Keeping him for a long time.

Coles-$20-Hopefully Pennington has tunnel vision for this guy again.

Driver-$13-The Favre/Driver combo coud be lethal.

Stokely-$9-As an Indy homer I had to get a COLT- GO COLTS!!!

TE's-I really don't like TE's but I guess we have to play one. Mine are very average.

Wiggins-$5-Now that Moss is gone C-pepp has to throw to somebody. Go Jermaine!

Troupe-$11-Drafted him as a #2 TE. Could be #1.....I really don't like TE's.

K-J.Brown-$4-Go Seahawk "O" Stall at 20-30 yard line!!!

Def-Always a shot in the dark-but I like Carolina's schedule.

Carolina-$7-They are not Baltimore or Buffalo but they will have to do.

If I can't manage a playoff appearance with these guys I might deserve to
have Don Famila whack me wink.gif

Good luck to all!

I am always up for some FF discussions.

Big Palooka
Better late than never....

1 QB Collins, Kerry OAK 5 $16
2 QB Vick, Michael ATL 8 $9

Wow, can't belive I got Vick for a bargain price again!! I like this duo for $25. Collins wil be the man to start, but I'll be watching matchups.

3 RB Brown, Chris TEN 10 $16
4 RB Duckett, T.J. ATL 8 $26
5 RB McGahee, Willis BUF 9 $19
6 RB Jackson, Steven STL 9 $36
7 RB Jones, Kevin DET 3 $33

The strength of my team. Great depth too. I was originally only bidding up Steven Jackson, and was waiting for someone to take him away, but I guess the price was getting to high. No problem, I'll take him. Got caught in a bidding war for TJ Duckett of all guys, but I got it in my head that I needed him for depth with all those goal line TDs he'll vulture from Dunn. Had to sacrifice at WR, hope it doesn't cost me.

8 WR Jackson, Darrell SEA 8 $23
9 WR Stallworth, Donte' NOS 10 $3
10 WR Clayton, Michael TBB 7 $23
11 WR Williams, Roy X DET 3 $7
12 WR Williams, Mike DET 3 $2

No uber-studs in this group, but a solid 1-2-3 punch in Jackson, Clayton, and Williams. Stallworth was a decent consolation prize after having to give up on Jimmy Smith as my #4 WR (See TJ Duckett). Was ready to settle for less as I didn't have enough cap room to take away any remaining receivers from anyone's roster. I was fortunate not to get outbid on Stallworth.

13 TE Smith, L.J. PHI 6 $9
14 K Graham, Shayne CIN 10 $2
15 K Janikowski, Sebastian OAK 5 $2
16 DF Jacksonville DEF JAC 7 $5

Big LJ fan. Had him on all my rosters last season. As a 2nd team guy behind Lewis last season, he finished 10th in points at TE in my office league. All with a bad back too. FBG has him at #9, but I'm optimistic he'll outplay that ranking.

Sea Bass, Graham - Solid twosome.

Jax - Risky with upside. Realized I was spending too much at other positions, needed cheap D with potential for points.

Overall, I think I have a solid, deep team. I think I'll be able to match up well with anyone on any week, although not having any super studs may leave me prone to more than one narrow loss during the season. Anxious to find out!

and I did all this with cap room to spare!

that's not exactly something you should be happy (or proud) about.

:p

please kindly disregard my last comment as I ended up spending $2 less than Paul did.

what I really meant to say was: "good job displaying your brilliance in not overpaying for players" unsure.gif
