As usual, there will be 2 free agency/waiver periods during the pre-season. The first week of waivers starts next Monday, July 31st, and runs until Thursday, August 3rd at 12 noon PST/3 pm EST. We will use the same process we used these past 5 years...For the first week of waivers the top of the food chain order is the person with the last draft slot (Rick) and then so on. Once your request is processed you move to the bottom of the food chain, which is carried over request-to-request, and week-to-week.
Every team has 200 credits (cr) deposited in your account. All free agents are to be bid on each week in increments of at least 1 cr per player. Again, there are the 2 pre-season free agency/waiver periods...one the week after the draft ends, and one the week before the regular NFL season begins (begins on the Monday before the Thursday night game). Free agency/waivers bidding ends when you run out of credits, so if you get in the league CaveBowl and still have credits left, you can still bid (I should probably remember that for this year, f'n Kurt Warner). All free agency/ww periods start on Mondays and end at noon on Thursdays PST. The one exception to this is the Thanksgiving day games...please get your bids in on any player from those 4 teams on Wednesday night by 9 pm PST. All other players bid on for that week are due by Thursday at the regular time.
Send your bids to me at abearwfurn@yahoo.com
Please put in the subject header <CDFFL bid for (your team name)>...this way I know to forward it to my CD folder and don't open until I process waivers. Again, I generally send my bids to the first person who sends me their's.
Just a few formatting rules for your bids...please put them in some type of form that I know who & what in the hell you are talking about
Here is an example...
Parbreakers request 1.
bid 10 cr on Charlie Adams, WR DEN
bid 5 cr on Otis Amey, WR SFO
bid 3 cr on Billy Baber, TE FA
drop Peyton Manning, QB IND
Parbreakers request 2.
bid 199 cr on Stephen Gostkowski, PK NEP
bid 198 cr on Rob Bironas, PK TEN
drop Peyton Manning, QB IND
drop Edgerin James, RB ARI
...
MOHD request 1.
bid 5 cr on Eugene Baker, WR PIT
drop Brandon Lloyd, WR WAS
MOHD request 2.
bid 10 cr on Charlie Adams, WR DEN
drop Brandon Lloyd, WR WAS
drop Drew Bennett, WR TEN
If you give me the name, position, and team for each guy it makes my life so much easier...please don't just put the name of the player in your request as then I have to go look them up and see who/what/where this player is...
If I don't get a player to drop, you don't get your request...and once a player is dropped, he's not available for free agency until waivers the following week.
k...looking at the requests above, we see that both Billy and Rick have 2 requests in each. It's important that you remember that how you tier your requests is how they will be processed and also how it affects your place in the food chain for the waiver wire.
I put everyone's requests into a word document and just work my way down it. So for this I would first look at Parbreakers request #1. He's bid 10 cr on Charlie Adams, WR DEN. Then I would work my way down the list until I came to Rick's bid, also 10 cr on Adams, but it's his 2nd tiered bid. If there were no other higher/tied bids on this player I then look at Rick's first bid for Eugene Baker...if no other teams have placed a bid on Baker then I immediately award Rick with Baker and move him to the bottom of the waiver order. This now makes Billy's bid for Adams the higher priority from the 2 tie bids since Billy is now higher on the waiver wire than Rick. Once Billy is awarded Adams then he moves to the bottom of the waiver wire. Obviously had Rick not won Baker then he would have been awarded Adams.
Remember, the waiver wire order is used ONLY FOR TIE BID AMOUNTS. No matter how you tier your requests, an exorbitant amount of cr bid on one player in any of your tiered requests will still win that player...it does not matter where you are in the waiver order if you are the highest bidder.
I hope this makes it a bit clearer how our waiver system works, as it seems every year there are questions...and as always, I do make mistakes from time-to-time so just feel free to point them out to me as they happen. I realize that we could use the waiver bidding function on the MFL website but from my other leagues that use this, I just don't think it's that user friendly or reliable. But unlike an old dog I can learn new tricks...so if ever this is something 'everyone' wants to explore then we can try it out for awhile and see if it works, and how well...
Anyways, hope everyone is having a great summer...great job on the draft as I don't think there were really that many downtimes and the ones that were were foreseen and posted in the forum...good luck with all your upcoming drafts in the next few weeks!
