I've been busy for the past few weeks and Neil had the juice to want to get discussions roling, which is awesome.

Originally I posted on FBG to get a face 2 face auction league together in the Delaware Valley. Unfortunately dates weren't working out and we had to postpone things till next year.

League Setup: No rules were setup, so we have alot of decision to make, but this was first and foremost a face 2 face, auction league for money. Everything else is up for discussion, but I would suggest we stick with a face 2 face, auction league for money, to keep with the original plan.

We can vote on the rest. It will be tough to get everyone to agree, but if we get a core 8 active members to agree on the setup, I think the rest will fall into place.

I agree with this. 2/3rds (if we stick with 12 members) is a good amount to agree and move forward.

One thing I absolutely don't want is a re-draft league.

It seems like more than half of us have mentioned that we want some form of keeper. I personally like keeper over redraft, but I think a keeper penalty system works well to avoid dynasties & dead teams. (Ex: You get LT 2006, you pay a penalty to keep him the following year). This can all be hashed out.

I like the idea of contract keeper.

Even though Im not for an all out dynasty I think keeping players is a good idea and a salary cap is even better but it is also a lot of work for the commish. Is it really true we are going to have a Dallas fan in a Philly league man Im going to need the Pepto.

a salary cap league with a certain percentage increase to keep someone (ie: 20% if top 5 in his position, 10% if top 20, 5% otherwise...)

interesting idea gigante...i just joined a contract keeper salary cap league with some interesting ideas (a bit different than others i've seen out there) if that's where we decide to go. it can get pretty complicated but since this is a new league we can determine how complicated...

also - how many of u guys are big on the IDP thing? and how many are expecting this league to have idp? i've never done IDP and a bit unsure of it but trying to remain open-minded. i can't imagine spending much more time than i already do keeping track of the offensive players...is doing idp completely overwhelming?

nagle - considering all the eagles have put you thru over the last few decades, i would have thought you'd have graduated to something stronger than the over-the-counter pepto stuff by now...

i've gotten into idp more and more over the eyars. What I love about it is that it creates so many different strategies for building a team. Of course I'll go with what the majority decides, but I strongly prefer that IDPs be included. I'll also gladly point those new to IDP to good resources, and the auction values of my one idp dynasty auction league.

I'm okay with IDP, as long as the league doesn't become an IDP dominated league.

I like the salary cap/contract idea. There should be limits on the number of keepers at each position and/or the length of time you can keep somebody. For example, you can keep a maximum of 1 player per position, or you cannot keep a player more than 2 years.

There just needs to be limits (length of time and number of keepers) in order for teams to be able to rebuild within a year or 2. I've been in a keeper league (recently converted to a redraft) where it was just too difficult to rebuild once a team ot buried.

If people don't want limits, then we should go dynasty.

how strong a preference is this? Is it more like a, I'd rather not do IDP but if that's what the majority wants I'm cool with it, or is it a no way no how, no IDP for me?

As for me, I'd be a very strong preference for IDP but would probably be willing to be dragged along kicking and screaming if we go the other way.

I have never been in a IDP but Im willing to play whatever the league decides
