This weekend is Rotobowl at the Atlantic City Convention Center. I'm thinking about doing the main event ($250) and maybe the auction side event ($500). I want to see where my skills stand on a regional level. smash.gif

If you want to go in with me for a percentage (25%, 50%, whatever) i'm looking for a partner for either event. Should be a good time. We can work on draft strategy before hand. If not interested, you can kiss my moon.gif

Rotowbowl was pretty cool. I did the auction & the main event. The organizer bribed me to fill a spot in the auction league, and gave me a discount. Everyone else paid $500, i got in for $250, rofl.gif I just transferred my money from the main event & dropped out, but I joined up later at a discount. 12 man league, and there was only 1 auction league. 1st prize, $3,000, 2nd $1,000, 3rd $400... Most pts $500, 2nd Most Pts $200

No trades allowed all year, 4pt QB td's, -1 int, 1pt per 10 yards Rush/Rec, 1 ppr...etc. 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex, 1 PK, 1 TM

Auction team is:
QB Brees $2
QB Favre $3 g-bash.gif
QB Rothlisberger $2
RB Bush $35 clap.gif
RB Kevin Jones $34
RB Fred Taylor $11 biggrin.gif
RB Rhodes $16
RB Gado $3
RB Barlow $8
RB Calhoun $1
WR Steve Smith $31 unsure.gif
WR Driver $24
WR Givens $3
WR Williamson $6
WR Samie Parker $3
WR Travis Taylor $5
TE McMichael $4
PK Elam $1
TM Ravens $2 clap.gif
TM Bucs $2 moon.gif

I don't really like my team, but I got value at every pick. Besides Taylor & Driver, I've never drafted any of these players before. Several teams thought I was a sucker for paying $35 for Bush, but with Westbrook going for $42, and the top 5 going for $60+, i though it was a deal. We'll see.

The main event was crazy. 20 leagues, of 12 teams. Fee is $250 per team. I also got in at a discount $200 since several people didn't show & didn't pay. 1st $20,000 & 2 superbowl tix, 2nd $3500, 3rd $1250...etc. League prizes: 1st $750, 2nd $300, 3rd $100

Main event team: I picked at #10.
QB Culpepper
QB Plummer whacko2.gif
RB Westbrook biggrin.gif
RB Kevin Jones
RB Lundy moon.gif
RB Chris Brown
RB Moats
RB Calhoun
RB Herron
WR Chad Johnson
WR Driver
WR Glenn
WR Kennison think.gif
WR Wilford
WR Eric Parker
WR Reggie Williams clap.gif
WR Chad Jackson
TE Witten
PK Elam
TM Bucs huh2.gif

Again, I really don't like my team, but I got value at nearly every single pick. Week 1 was a bomb, but let's hope my boys can turn it around.

FHM girls were there, super hot, beer was flowing, it was a very cool event. i did not go to the FHM after party at the Casino's, I had other plans with the family sad.gif

Cool. Would you/will you do it again? It's interesting but I don't think my wife would be real keen on me entering Rotobowl. Keep us posted on your progress.

Auction team is:
QB Brees $2
QB Favre $3
QB Rothlisberger $2

I think the Saints offense will be fine so Brees isn't a great number 1 but he is good enough. Why did Favre go for more then Brees Im guessing his shoulder but either way he never starts IMO unless you have major injuries at Qb. Big Ben can start certain weeks when needed and it seems Pitt is throwing more in the playoffs and so far in week one considering they had a back up.

RB Bush $35
RB Kevin Jones $34
RB Fred Taylor $11
RB Rhodes $16
RB Gado $3
RB Barlow $8
RB Calhoun $1

I have to agree with the others about Bush even though with ppr he should be a good number 2 Im not sure he is an every week starter. Im not a big Jones fan never have been but with him and Bush you should get a decent number 2 Rb for most weeks. Again I think Taylor is also a number 2 but from what you wrote Im guessing if you went after a number 1 rb it was costing a ton. I think Rhodes will get just as many carries as Addai but if week one means anything 16 carries for 20 yards doesn't help and I doubt he starts for you at all and Im shocked he went for more then Taylor in a redraft. The trade helped you with Gado because I think it is only a matter of weeks before he takes over in Houston and since you paid so much less for him the Rhodes it is a huge steal. I think the same thing about Barlow and he should start before week 4 at the latest and just like your other rb's he could be a good number 2 certain weeks. Im guessing Calhoun is just for handcuff purposes which is a decent move because I think he is made for Martz system the question is how long will they stay with Jones IF he doesn't perform.

WR Steve Smith $31
WR Driver $24
WR Givens $3
WR Williamson $6
WR Samie Parker $3
WR Travis Taylor $5

Man this hamstring must be killing you considering Smith is a top 3 Wr when he plays and in most weeks he is the number 1 guy. Driver seems to be Farve only target and I expect a top 12 year for him this year. Im not big on Givens and think Bennett will be the number 1 guy in Tennessee followed by the Te's I think he is the bust of the year at Wr. I have Williamson in almost every league I have and when Robinson left I think it opened the door for Williamson to have a big year I think he will be a very good number 2 Wr this year. I thought Parker was going to be a good sleeper this year but with Green out in will take some time for him to get in his rhythm again but by week 8 he could be a good 4th Wr. Some of the prices seem odd and even though I said I wasn't a Givens guys Im a little shocked he went for less then Taylor who IMO has very little if any value this year.

TE McMichael $4

I have no idea what your waiver wire looks like or how it works but McMichael is a fine starter and Im sure you can cut Taylor and get a bye week starter when you need to.

PK Elam $1

I expect Denver's offense to turn it around and Elam is a top 10 kicker so you fine here and since Miami and Denver don't have the same bye week you can cut and pick up bye week players to fill needs.

TM Ravens $2
TM Bucs $2

Ravens are going to be a top 3 defense this year and even though the Bucs struggled week 1 I think it had way more to do with the offense. I think you play the matchups and this will easily be a plus position for you

Overall I think you have a lot of number top 15 players at thier positionbut aside from Smith no real stars but Im sure the team with LJ and such don't have much of anything else so you should be able to compete but its hard to tell without seeing the other team.

Main event team: I picked at #10.
QB Culpepper
QB Plummer

Im really not high on either one of these Qb's but if played right they should be fine.

RB Westbrook
RB Kevin Jones
RB Lundy
RB Chris Brown
RB Moats
RB Calhoun
RB Herron

I think in ppr league Westbrook should be more then fine and I expect him to get more rushing yards this year then ever before IF he doesn't get hurt. As I said before Im not big on Jones but Im guessing you are so I hope Im wrong and your right here. Lundy is probably the main man in Houston for a few weeks but I think its only a matter of time before Gado takes over but with Kubiak you never know. I think Moats has talent but Buckhalter is the number 2 guy but Im guessing you think if Westbrook goes down that Buck won't be able to handle the full load which I agree with. Again I like Calhoun because I think he is a Martz type rb but I think Jones will have to fall apart before he gets pulled. Not sure why you took Herron considering he is 3rd on a bad bad team.

WR Chad Johnson
WR Driver
WR Glenn
WR Kennison
WR Wilford
WR Eric Parker
WR Reggie Williams
WR Chad Jackson

Johnson is a top 5 Wr and even though I think it will take a few weeks before Lewis lets Palmer go crazy when he does Chad will be the guy again. I think Driver could be the number 1 guy on some teams this year but will be a great number 2 for you. I think as good as Glenn was last year he might be even better this year with Owens taking away a lot of pressure Glenn should get a ton of deep balls. Kennison has the talent to be your bye week guy and a little more if needed but with Green out Im not sure he isn't worth much right now. I think Williams beats out Wilford and will have a good year but since you have both it doesn't matter one fo them will have a good year. I think Parker could help if you need for a week or so but I think SD has way to many other options. I like Jackson as a dynasty guy but this year he has no value IMO.

TE Witten

I feel different about Witten then others do because I just feel Parcells loves to grind it out and with Owens and Glenn there isn't enough balls but he should still be top 12 just not top 5 like before.

PK Elam

Elam is a good kicker who will score you big some weeks and very little the next but I think that has more to do with which Plummer shows up.

TM Bucs

I would cut Jackson ASAP and bring in a good back up defense one that I like is Buffalo this year but I see what tough offense the Bucs play and maybe even just use waivers those weeks

Overall I think this is the better of the two teams and if Westbrook can stay healthy and you play your Qb's right you should be fine.
Andrew
Nagle...

I agree with your overall assessment, as stated before, I really didn't target many of these players, they just presented good value at the time of my pick, or during the auction. Generally that means going after the guys most people aren't high on. So with a little luck, I may be able to pull it out, hopefully the injury bug starts nagging the Alexander's and Tomlinson's of the world ;-)
