Suggestions

1.Have a rule that specifically defines a player IR elligibility and it needs to be monitored and have a penalty in place

2.Change the defensive scoring

3. Go to a decimal scoring system

4. Have a tie breaker put in place

Things i liked and don't want changed.

1. No divisions, very fair and the best 6 makes the playoffs
2. The entry fee, i'd like to keep it a big money league
3. The owners, i'd love to see everyone back, we had some great owners and i'd hate to see anyone go.
4. Roster size and starting lineup requirements............PERFECT

I'd also like to throw out to BM, that i'd be open to helping him from a co-commish angle next year, i know BM doesn't have internet access during the day and i could help do some things while he's working if needed.

Anyone else have any input. I'll pin this so we can see what areas are open for debate next year.
JoJoTheWebToedBoy

I would second the the Defensive Scoring Change.

I think TOS has nailed it right on the head. I really liked this league and look forward to next year. For me, the DST scoring is the biggest issue.

With regard to IR, I like what we have over in Bling Bling. The roster is a little larger (20) and there is no IR. That way, there's no confusion or potential for mistakes, abuse, etc.

I agree 100% with what has been said in all posts above, especially about the change in defensive scoring.

agree on all points as well.

With all 4 of your "positives", I agree with them too!!

1.Have a rule that specifically defines a player IR elligibility and it needs to be monitored and have a penalty in place This needs to be one of the first things we talk about next year. This league is filled with 12 honest guys, but there needs to be a rule

2.Change the defensive scoring
ENough said

3. Go to a decimal scoring system This is something that wouldnt get my vote. I would rather have a tie for the week then lose by .3

4. Have a tie breaker put in place We deff need one in for the playoffs

I would also like to add:

Maybe a $50 consolation bracket to keep us "losers" in it for another two weeks.
Something fun for week #17

It was a great season guys! Our draft will be the last week of August 07 because I am going on my Hooneymoon the 3rd week in August shades.gif

Tiebreaker rule to consider:

1. Most Wins or best percentage, ties (if used) count as a 1/2 point.
2. H2H -

This only applies to 2 teams, 3 or more go to next tie breaker.

....Examples 1. Team A and Team B are both 7-7, Team B beat Team A, therefore Team B wins the tiebreaker.
.....Example 2. Team A and Team B are both 7-7 , They split a pair of games in the regular season. Team A has more total points (#3 tie breaker), therefore he advances.
.....Example 3. Teams A, B and C are all 7-7, there are 2 playoff positions left for the 3 teams. Team A has the most points, therefore he gets the top spot of the 3. Team B and C will now restart the tie breaking process, since there are only 2 teams now, the H2H will be the 1st determination. Team B beat Team A and takes the last remaining spot.

3. Total Points
4. Points Against
5. Division Record, if applicable (same division teams) Conferecne Records if other
6. Coin toss

As far as deciding ties in a weekly match up, using decimal, it should never happen, but in the event, use the overall scoring of your entire roster, not including an IR spot .

IR rules to consider

MFL has specific rules to insure the IR is used how your league intends it to be.

Go to For Commisioners>Setup>Transactions Setup >Injured Reserve Setup , and you'll find these options.

Injured Reserve Options

A player can only be deactivated when his current official NFL Injury status is:

1. None - any player may be deactivated at any time.
2. IR
3. IR or Out
4. IR or Out or Doubtful
5. IR or Out or Doubtful or Questionable
6. IR or Out or Doubtful or Questionable or Probable

By selecting 3. IR or Out, the system will not allow you to deactivate a player until the MFL official injury report lists him as so, when the player is not longer IR or O, your roster would be illegal and you'd get a notice on your "submit Lineup" page.

I think this is the best way for the IR to be used, if we continue to use it.

Playoff seedings

We didn't have anything in our rules to determine seeding for the playoffs, while some thought it was a no-brainer, others may not have, so in order to clear any doubt, i think we should adopt a rule like this.

Playoffs

Playoffs start in Week 14

Top 2 seeds (based on our tiebreaker rules) shall be awarded the bye in week 1 of the playoffs

#3 seed to face the #6 seed in week one.

#4 seed to face the #5 seed in week one.

Week 2 of playoffs the #1 seed shall face the lowest remaining seed, while the #2 seed faces
the remaining contender.

Week 3 of the playoffs shall be the winners of week 2 in one contest to determine the #1 and #2 team
and the losers of the week 2 playoff games to determine the #3 and #4 teams.

Toilet Bowl ( if we use it) seeding are to be the same as the system above.

Bye week players/ Line up submission

We had some questions on this topic, due to the nature of our defensive unit scoring, but if we are to move away from the possiblility of negative points, then we should consider allowing bye week players to by used, under these guidelines.

Starting bye week players. Any team wishing to start a bye week player, due to lack of
talent in the FA pool, or fear of getting negative points with a FA , or just
plain forgot to pick someone up is permissable.

No lineup set. If a team forgets to set his lineup, the previous weeks lineup will be used.

Stat changes

We also had an issue this season pertaining to the adjustment of scoring on the McNabb to R.Brown TD that was originally ruled a lateral , then changed to a TD pass, this change affected the outcome of a game, and i think we need to have a rule to cover such an event, whereas the commish doesn't need to invoke judgement, but inforce rule.

Stats Changes and League Official source for scoring

The official source of stats for our league will be NFL.Com Gamebooks

Scores will be final on Thursday morning at 10 A.M. EST time for the previous weeks results. This rule includes scoring issues and all other scenarios that may potentially effect the score of any contest.

Any owner wishing to challenge the result of their game must make a post before the final scoring date set above.

Elias Sports Bureau will be the official stat provider for any questions pertaining to scoring changes.

Any owner not emailing the league by Thursday following that week's result will forfeit any objection to the results.

Once a challenge to a result has been made, the commish will review Elias Sports Bureau report, if nothing is published by Thursday at 10:30 AM Est. ,
the result will stand. Speculation or unconfirmed reports of a potential stat change do not constitute a scoring change, it must be official. Any official change to scoring made after this time period will not be recognized by the league.

Roster compisition

I look directly at myself with this rule suggestion. I was a complete RB hord this year, and i think a roster position limit may be a good idea. Something like this:

Composition
Position...................Minimum.................Maximum
Quarterback.................0............................4
Running Back...............0.............................7
Wide Receiver..............0.............................7
Tight End.....................0.............................3
Kicker.........................0.............................3
Defense......................0.............................3

I'd be against any rule that curtails smart drafting/FA pickups.

i'm not a big fan of it either, just throwing out a bunch of suggestions to see if anyone has any comments.

I agree pretty much with everything that has been said so far.

As far as the defensive scoring, I don't have a problem with negative points per se, but I don't think that 2/3 of the teams should end up there for the week/season. But certainly a team that gives up 42 points and 582 total yards should end up with a negative score for the week.

I don't mind decimal scoring.

I also like BM's suggestion of some type of loser's playoff bracket to keep all the teams going throughout the playoffs.

I wouldn't mind this as well as my team got hot just in time for the playoffs to begin. shades.gif

My suggestions:
1. Just nuke IR altogether. The rosters are big enough, and this isn't a keeper league.
2. Decimile scoring is cool.
3. I'd like to see fumbles count negatively.
4. $300 buy in is cool, though I'd be willing to chip in a few extra bucks if we were to get a "floating" trophy that rotated with the annual SB winner.
5. I'd really like to see the complete playoff seeding spelled out at the begining of the year.

i like all the mentioned ideas here, except for the trophy. I've had several leagues try that and they get lost, tarnished, people just stop sending them around, and basically becomes a waste of money.

Not a problem. Such a trophy is unlikely to leave my possession in the first place. w00t.gif

Playoffs

Playoffs start in Week 14 or 15 ???

Disional winners to be awarded the top 3 seeds, use the tie breaker system set of guidlines to determine
to seeding for all teams.

Top 2 seeds shall be awarded the bye in week 1 of the playoffs

#3 seed to face the #6 seed in week one.

#4 seed to face the #5 seed in week one.

Week 2 of playoffs the #1 seed shall face the lowest remaining seed, while the #2 seed faces

Week 3 of the playoffs shall be the winners of week 2 in one contest to determine the #1 and #2 team
and the losers of the week 2 playoff games to determine the #3 and #4 teams.
