Looks as though we'll be short at least 3 owners

Post your interest here , this is not a FCFS league, post your FF resume please.

Apoc, please edit as you see fit. Just trying to generate some new blood.
Miner
I'm definitely interested in joining.

As far as my FF resume goes....I've been playing in my local league for 12 years and have won the title 3 times. For the past two seasons I have played in the BOTH HAG-NVN league, winning the league both years. The league is comprised of four age-divided leagues with the four league winners facing off in a Battle Royale in week 16. If not for Steve Smith getting tossed out of the game mad.gif , I believe I would have won the Battle Royale back in '05, as I lost out by only a handful of points.

I am an active owner, I don't play in a ton of leagues, so I am able to give my full attention to the couple of leagues that I am in.

Thanks. Let me know if you have any other questions for me.

This was going to be my suggestion, so carry on. We also have three people on the waiting list from last year. If you haven't already, I can post our league opening in the "Find A League/Find An Owner" board too.

I'm still interested.

I've been playing since 95. I run 1 local (since 95). I'm in 4 BoTH leagues- CBFL (co-commish), AFL, HFADL & FDSB all are Dynasty leagues.

Super active owner. I've won multiple titles and way too many 2nds. Nick may still have my full resume if you need more info, I'll be happy to post it. biggrin.gif

This would be my 6th and final league, down from 8 last year.

Thanks

There is a waiting list pinned at the top of the forum. Zooty and 2 other names...Big Mike in NY and Tonorator. I have no issue with Miner, he's a HotD bud...but we should contact the people on the list first.

BigMike and Toronator are also active in other BOTH leagues, and would make good owners if interested. I'll PM them.

I heard back from Toronator. He's got his quota of leagues and is taking himself off the list.

I heard back from BigMikeinNY. We would like to be in. He has two issues, and I did not want to give a definite answer before bringing it up here. He is going to be on his honeymoon from 8/18-8/25 and would not be available to draft. Secondly, he would not be able to pay the league dues until late September.

Several of us are in multiple leagues with him, and I'm not worried about payment, but I wanted to get your thoughts.

BM is good for it, imo.

He's a good owner and i'd welcome his entry

No offense intended to Big Mike, but I would dissent on letting anyone slide on fees due before draft. IMO it's just a bad precident to set for playing FF on an internet forum. It's just not something I would ever do.

As far as the draft is concerned, Bling has always had a late draft, and I see no reason to change that. Generally it didn;t start until the week before the NFL kickoff, and IIRC last season we successfully pulled off a live draft.

I agree with this normally. The only reason I brought it up in this case is because Big Mike is in several leagues with myself, theohiostate, and TDFFFreak, and has been reliable.

As I'm not the 'main guy' anymore, I am not saying 'no', I'm just saying that I would put a no vote down if we had a league vote. I have known BM on the huddle for a few years, and have no issues with him or anyone else. It's just that if there is one subject people get real touchy about, it's money, and in my experience money problems are the easiest way for a league to go south. Don't open yourself up to them and you never have an issue.

Send an email out to the league if you want to get it past, but otherwise I would expect some headache...

to put your concern to rest, i would not have said yes being league treasurer if i wern't prepared to stand in for the payment.

I will vouche for his entry fee and will assume the liability if not paid.

As has been said before, BM is good for it and while it is a smart to get the money before hand, several of us just aren't worried about it with BM as we have former knowledge of this guy.

Yes, I understand...but unless everyone that is paying an enrty fee was okay with it, then a few people being okay with it wouldn't matter.

It is my way to have faith in people, even when I know there's a pretty good chance I will get burned. I have personally seen 2 different leagues of different personal friends fall apart because one person was allowed to slide on dues and didn't end up paying. I am not suggesting BM would do that, but if real, personal friends would do it then I would think that the risk of someone doing it on a web site would be at least as great.

No matter as TOS is fronting BM's $$. In the future, though, I would hope that this league would consult all of the owners taking a risk and make sure something like this was okay before just passing it through.

Fair enough, but ultimately the bolded statement is what counts in this instance.

I probably should have waited a little longer before making the decision, but at the time we had 4 active owners on the boards, 4 open spots, and 4 owners we had not heard from.

Yes, this year i've seen alot of turn around in many BOTH leagues and spots are getting more difficult to fill as more leagues expand and new ones open.

A few years ago, you had to fill out a resume to enter a BOTH league, now for some reason, it's less appealing???

Well, it is tougher as we're competing on a level playing field here at the Huddle. It's harder to find a local league (meaning outside of the Huddle) these days, and the one local league I was in was my worst league performance. Go figure.

My local was the only league I won last year. I prefer the BOTH leagues, as it is no fun to compete in leagues where half the owners don't know what they're doing, or refuse to manage their teams. I ended up disbanding my local this season after 14 years.

All true for me as well. Mine might break up this year, not enough owners.

We had a nice local since 1997 , live draft in the bsmt, beer - wings. I loved it.

1/2 the league walked because the other half wanted to change the scoring to a performance league. I mean we were wanting to get with the times a little and they wouldn't go for it, so i took half the league with me and bonded with some huddlers to keep it going a few years, then more of the locals dropped because they weren't pc savy and didn't like forums on the huddle. So now , i am all BOTH leagues and 2 non BOTH with all huddle members.

I would love to get a group of huddlers from my area to do a live draft, there was nothing like it for me. Planning a menu with the wife, having the ladies cater the food down, putting up the draft board and waiting till the fourth round till the drunk guy called out Barry Sanders 3 years retired.

Yep, that was some fun. The competitons knowledge wasn't near as sharp, but the anticipation of the live draft was.

Yeah, I totally miss it. The Huddle is great and all, but there something to that war room feel on draft day.
