I'll take the sixth spot unless BC wants to give me the fifth slot.

I texted him and will update after he chooses. He may just give you #5.

Why do I get the feeling that the draft order will wind up the same as the Dice Roll Order....

Yeah, we need to change that next year. The dice roll order should be the draft order.

I almost chose to go with the 10 or 11 slot when I was first told by Darin that 1-5 were gone.

I was out yesterday. Darin texted me that 1-5 were gone. I nearly went 10 but opted for 6.... then he clarified that it was 1-4 gone and I took 5.
My choices, just in case it gets to me today, in this order:
12
7
11
8
9
10

That's the whole point of doing it this way. Example, I rolled 8th highest, but I can almost guarantee you I will not select the #8 spot to draft from. This is the ONLY way draft orders should be done, in my opinion. It actually penalizes those that roll "middle" types of scores. Personally - and I think most would agree - it would be better to draft near the end than smack dab in the late-middle.
Oh, and edit - I'm trying to get a hold of clubby. He's going thru some "stuff" right now and we just need to be patient.
Surprisingly, clubby wanted #7. I want the endcap. REZ is up.

REZ was in the forum a few hours ago......... maybe he'll be back later.

Whatever floats your boat.
Darin, I think Chargerz' point is that it is still just a random dice-roll that is determining the draft order. All we are doing is adding an extra step that is taking several days to complete. I, personally, would be perfectly fine with just rolling for draft position. Not much difference, IMO. As soon as the dice rolls were done, in this case, I could pretty much tell that I was going to be in the 9-11 range for drafting. I have done several of these "choose your draft position" things, and it turns out basically the same every time. I can see the point if it's a dynasty/keeper and you let the last-place team choose their position rather than automatically getting the #1 pick, but in a redraft, I don't really think it's worth messing with, especially when it takes several days to complete.
However, it's not like it's holding up the start of the draft, so I don't really think it's a big deal either way.
Just my

I'll take #11 and kpholmes gets #10.
Darin, by the way, no offense intended by what I said earlier. This extra step does add a LITTLE extra strategy to the whole process. I guess I just feel that I could take it or leave it, since the process is somewhat predictable after the dice-roll is complete.

While I agree this year it seems advantageoups to have one of the top 5-6 picks then drop to the back, in years past it was not so cut and dried. About 3-4 years ago in a few leagues that we did this the most desirable slot was 5-8 as there was no clear cut gotta have him above everyone else guy like LT, but RBs did not see mto run as deep as they are this year, so being in that 5-8 range got you one of the main RBs that year plus a much better 2nd rounder compared to the guy having a tough choice at #1 with no clear cut guy.
I think really it is very different year to year as to what draft position seems most desirable.

I am now officially sorry I posted on this subject because I'm fine with it either way. I have never been in a league that has determined draft order like this, but I can get used to it.
In this case we had a draft order that followed pretty close with the roll order. It poses no disadvantage to anyone, and makes it an even playing field for those that roll in the middle. Those guys should have the option to pick in the middle or the end (or towards the front, if one of the front-running rollers takes another spot).
I know it seems a little weird but if you really think about it, it's absolutely the most fair way of running a draft. Yes, it adds a step but at this point, rolling the 8th-best roll would not equate with getting the 8th pick, which I think is one of the worst this season.

Normaly I would have taken my pick closer to the turn.
This year I am both aggressive and confident.
