Draft strategy: Starting from scratch. To say last season was a debacle for my squad would be generous. I wanted a clean slate... Once I netted the 11th pick in the draft (I wanted the 12th) I knew that I would not protect anyone on my roster. I expected to have the 2nd and 3rd pick in the draft, as it was my belief that Hat Trick would be in possession of the first overall pick (Protecting Fitzgerald really surprised me.) I could have kept Portis but I just couldn't bring myself to do it, I hope he works out for you DaFreak... Finally giving up on 'Southeast Jerome' wasn't easy. So, now I am building a team with a solid foundation for the future and can be competitive now.

Draft Picks:

1.01 - Adrian Peterson (RB-Min): I bought the hype. I watched this kid run in college and he is a beast, and now he is running behind one of the best O-Lines in the league. I'm not sure how the ratio will work out between he and Chester initially but Peterson is just too talented to ride pine. In the red-zone it will likely be Peterson in the back field as Chester proved to be ineffective in that capacity last season so there should be ample opportunity to score some points this season.

2.01 - Maurice Jones-Drew (RB-Jac): I knew who I would be picking with the first two picks once they were in my possession. MJD is exciting and explosive runner. Yes, Taylor is there but MJD can do allot with his touches. Again, MJD is also running behind one of the best O-Lines in the league. Fred will get his touches and be very successful but on this team there is enough to go around.

3.08 - Tom Brady (QB-NE): Time for a difference maker. I have little faith that Maroney will hold up an entire season which puts the Patriots playoff run squarely on the shoulders of Tom Brady. The revamped WR unit should help. Brady will be elite. I would have liked to wait until my next pick to grab him but the WR's I had projected for this pick were gone. He was simply the best value.

4.02 - Donald Driver (WR-GB): I'll take Driver here. He is the Rudi Johnson of Wide Receivers. Little flash but very consistent. I believe he is in a contract year and this may be he Favre's last go round. I like his chances for another solid season.

5.11 - Jerious Norwood (RB-ATL): Norwood is another RB like MJD that can make people miss and can score from almost anywhere on the field. This kid is going to have a strangle hold on the starting position by the time Dunn returns and with the all the inexperience and shared situations I have at RB this season I am going to need the depth.

6.02 - Brandon Jackson (RB-GB): This was a reach and I know it. I wanted to take a WR here but I only liked one of the WR taken between this and my next pick and honestly I thought he (Santonio Holmes) would fall to me. He did not, it was a gamble but it did get me a RB in a good situation with only Morency around to take carries. The zone-blocking scheme being used by GB is a match to Jackson's skill set. He should be productive in GB.

7.11 - Terry Glenn (WR-DAL): A solid pick in the 7th round. I was happy to get Glenn here. He is a decent #2. No flash just production.

8..02 - Kevin Curtis (WR-PHI): #5's best pass is the long ball and Curtis should be on the receiving end of quite a few of those. Curtis could have the season that Stallworth's health prevented him from having last year.

9.11 - Adam Vinatieri (PK-IND): Best kicker in the league and I was looking for another difference maker. A bit of a reach but I can live with that.

10.02 - Donte' Stallworth (WR-NE): Another WR who is falling because of his time on the PUP. I'll take him here. Aside from Moss he is the most talented WR in NE. I expect to get between 6-8 healthy games from him. He could help eek a win or two out for me.

11.11 - Alex Smith (QB-SF): Time for a back-up QB. There has been a nice little run on them and I can't wait. I like Smith he is in a good situation, he has been making steady progress in SF, a new receiving crew and he has a decent match-up in week 10.

12.02 - Denver Broncos (DEF): I had them rated as the #2 defense in the league this year behind San Diego. Off-season moves have made them very good and they should be able to dominate games.

13.11 - Michael Bush (RB-OAK): Oakland is rebuilding. He has got a shot at making some noise this season and with my 13th pick that is all I was looking for. I was hoping Tony Hunt would fall but Bush is acceptable here and drives the final nail in the Jerks From Nowhere having the youngest RB stable in the league.

14.02 - Ted Ginn jr. (WR-MIA): He's been running with the first team. He will be on the field for PR/KR. He should receive plenty of opportunities to get touches. There is some definite upside here.

15.11 - Maurice Stovall (WR-TB): Clayton is a jerk and Boston is a bum. I have been keeping my eye on Stovall for some time now and I believe he is a good situation. With his size 6'4" and 220lbs he is going to be a monster in the red-zone.

Biggest Reach: Probably Brandon Jackson. Especially, since I had other positions to fill. This pick made my WR unit weaker than it should be.

Best Value: I think when all is said and done it will be Kevin Curtis. I think his is going to turn in a respectable season in Philly.
yo mama
Keepers: Alexander and P. Manning.

Strategy: play to win this year, future be damned!

3.9 - There were no fantastic RBs here (though, I was hoping B. Jacobs might fall) that weren't going to be there at 4.4, so I went with the WR that I liked best: Andre Johnson. With a new and improved QB I've got high hopes. Passed on some other guys I liked (J. Walker and TJ Housh). Each has their own downside, but Andre's was the most palatable for me.

4.4 - A. Green. I reached for him, but kinda had to. Next pick wasn't until 5.9 and I wasn't happy waiting that long for RB #2. This pick was between Caddy and Green. While both HOU and TB have favorable rushing schedules, I'm getting good vibes from Green and HOU. Not so much with TB, though I do think Garcia will help improve the Bucs this year. Green is someone that I think will vastly outperform his ADP and, in retrospect, will prove worth of a 4th round pick. I also seriously considered TJ. Housh and Walker here, who would have paired nicely with Andre, but given my horror show at RB last year I wasn't excited about running lean at the RB position this year.

5.9 - I was targeting Jamal Lewis and Reggie Brown, and could have had either. Went with Jamal because he's the undeniable starter in CLE, whose O-line should be improved. He's only my #3 RB, but he's looked sharp in camp and can fill in when ever I need him. I wish his schedule was a little better, but deep into the 5th round I was happy just to find a solid RB who wasn't splitting time. I sort of regretted passing on Reggie Brown, but then...

6.4 - Hines Ward fell to me. I was initially targeting Joey Galloway, but couldn't pass on Ward. This was probably the best value of the draft for me. I hadn't seen Ward slip this far in any mock draft and was thrilled to get him there, as he'll be equivalent - if not better - than Reggie Brown. A stellar #2 WR to find in the 6th round, and now I'm liking my team. It isn't spectacular, but with Manning and Alexander leading the charge the cast of supporting characters are looking solid.

7.9 - Tatum Bell. I really wasn't targeting Bell. I was actually crossing my fingers that Galloway would fall here, but that was wishful thinking. I figured the 7/8 turn was my last shot at a decent RB to serve as my #4 and, for me, it was between Bell and Betts. I'm still not sure I made the right decision, but I think Bell is the "swing for the fences" pick, whereas Betts was the conservative pick. I opted to swing. In hindsight, I could gone WR here and gotten D. Henderson, T. Glenn, or K. Curtis - all of whom I'd have been very happy with. But...

8.4 - Cotchery at 8.4 was just fine with me. Actually considered taking Betts, but I needed a starting #3 WR more than a #5 RB. Cotchery was great value at 8.4, IMO, as the Jets have a pretty favorable passing schedule.

9.9 - Everything is starting to look the same, but Troy Williamson was an upside #4 WR. In addition to being the presumptive #1 WR on his team, he may get some work in the individual return game. MIN schedule against the pass isn't too bad, and Williamson has spent the offseason working hard and looks very confident in himself. If this pick pays off, I'll be thrilled but I realize I reached for him here.

10.4 - I've been targeting DAL's DEF in most mocks. They *usually* last until 11.9, but I didn't want to take the chance, and I didn't see anyone else I liked better. I wasn't in love with this pick; just played it safe.

11.9 - N. Kaeding. I regret reaching for a K this early, but as far as Ks go, I love Kaeding. He's accurate and the Bolts get into scoring position a lot. But in retrospect I should have waited.

12.4 - Sammy Morris is a guy I'm targeting late this year. He really helped me last year in substitution for the injured Ronnie Brown, and now Morris is on a better team behind Maroney, who gets hurt a lot. This was a little sooner than I usually take him in most mocks, but at this point why not? Plus, I wasn't sure he'd make it around to 13.9 if I passed. I've got a good stable of RBs, so I didn't *need* him here, though. We'll see how this gamble pans out.

13.9 - Jeff Garcia, my man. I was targeting him here from the get go. Garcia isn't getting much love right now, and I think he is incredibly undervalued this deep in. Except, I've got P. Manning who never misses games. Since I'm only looking to plug Week 6 I did my research in advance I saw the Bucs play TEN in Week 6, which made Garcia a nice filler for Manning owners. I'd have rather gotten Grossman instead, but whatever. TB has the better schedule against the pass and Garcia was plucky and effective last year with the Eagles, so I am happy.

14.4 - Wes Welker is another guy I was targeting late. He gets that return yardage, and has a legit shot at being the Pats #2 WR. He's having a great camp and, should anything bad happen to Randy Moss, could actually be the Pats' leading WR. I probably should have passed on him and taken Ron Dayne to handcuff A. Green, though. Welker would likely have been there for me at 15.9.

15.9 - Eric Moulds. Whatever. He's having a good camp. If he doesn't show me something by Week 2 he's the first guy I'll cut for a waiver wire addition.

All in all, I like my team. It doesn't really have any holes, though its not exactly star-studded, either. I'm a little concerned that I didn't add any legit keeper candidates for next year. But like I said early, I'm playing to win this year.
Bill Swerski
My strategy this year was to draft more WRs/TEs in the first eight rounds and to not be an RB whore. Playing it safe by taking four RBs in the first nine rounds has been a waste. I was screwed last year with Rudi and Parker perfectly healthy, but with a gaping hole at my #3 WR/TE position. I'm going to trust that Addai and Parker stay healthy this year, as I figure that I'm in trouble anyway if they're not. I also took Brady in the late 4th last year and his inconsistency bit me in the ass. I want to wait later to take a QB and want to draft a high-upside backup. I sort of cast aside The Rules and drafted by my gut this season, much more so than in previous years.

Keepers: Holt, Addai, Parker

4.03 - Plaxico Burress: Not sure I liked this pick, but I wasn't sure what to do at this point. I wanted to take either Gates or Evans here, but both went right before my pick. I thought long and hard about Javon Walker, but I think that Cutler will go through some growing pains and I don't like his supporting cast (i.e., he'll be in double-coverage all of the time). Burress is a big endzone target, will see more looks with Toomer slowed down from surgery/aging and Tiki gone, but will also be freed up somewhat with Shockey and Toomer still out there. Plus, I think that this is Eli's breakout season.

5.10 - Reggie Brown: I really like this pick. Brown had some HUGH games when Stallworth went down with his annual hammy injury last year. I'm surprised that he fell this far. This guy had over 800 yds (17.7 avg. blink.gif) and 8 TDs last year in only his second year. He's only going to get better and may be a keeper for next year.

6.03 - Matt Hasselbeck: With Brees, Bulger, McNabb, and Romo already taken, it was time for me to take a QB. Kitna may have better numbers this year, but Hass has the stronger track record and is less risky, IMO. I was pretty happy with this pick - he'll be good for 3,500 yds and 24 TDs and I already have my starting RBs/WRs set.

7.10 - Chris Brown: Despite the fact that both of my RBs have byes on the same week (I'll just concede that week), I figured that I still needed to get a backup starting RB. I was somewhat surprised that Brown was still on the board, despite the fact that he'll see eight men in the box on every down. I'm also sure that he'll be on the injury report for a good chunk of the season, but I shouldn't have to use him outside of Week 6.

8.03 - Vernon Davis: This was not one of my best picks, but I really thought that I needed insurance at my #3 WR/TE spot. The injuries to Stallworth and Holt (and not to mention the rest of the Rams offense) really hurt me last year and having Heap as my #4 helped big-time. This is one of my "gut feeling" picks, as I love this guy's athleticism and his potential for being Alex Smith's target in the red zone. Young QBs also tend to dump the ball off to TEs a lot. I suppose that the worst thing about this pick was that I could've taken him a few rounds later - I incorrectly assumed that Davis/Heap/Winslow/Shockey/Witten would all go between the 8th and 9th rounds. In retrospect, maybe I should've taken DJ Hackett instead, but I'm going with my gut this time.

9.10 - Eli Manning: This may turn out to be my best pick. I wanted a solid backup QB and Eli being available in the late 9th was a no-brainer. This is another "gut feeling" pick, as I think that this is his break-out year. He certainly has the skill-position talent to do it.

10.03 - Mushin Muhammad: Wanted a solid bye week WR and Mush-head is still Rex's target in the red zone. His numbers won't be spectacular, but there's a good chance that he'll score when I need to plug him in on a bye week.

11.10 - DeDe Dorsey: Who?? DeDe is Addai's backup and I felt it was important to handcuff him to a guy who has never played outside of an RBBC situation. Plus, any RB who plays on the Colts offense has inherent value.

12.03 - Jets D: If there's anywhere that I screwed up this year, it was with defense. I waited way too long in hopes that a sleeper D like the Cowboys would fall to me here. Didn't quite work out that way. I liked them last year and trust that they'll continue to be solid under Mangini. Plus, the have four divisional games against the Bills and Dolphins.

13.01 - Packers D: Since I waited way too long to take a defense, I felt the need to take another here. I really liked what I saw out of them last November/December and think that they're a real up-and-coming squad. At the very least, I can play them against the Vikings.

14.03 - Josh Brown: My patience in drafting a kicker payed off this time. Thought long and hard about taking Gastkowski, but Brown has been very good over the past few years and was absolutely money last season. Plus, his divisional opponents aren't that great and they all play in kicker-friendly climates.

15.10 - Anthony Gonzalez: Perhaps I should've taken another RB here, but I really like this guy's upside as the Colts slot receiver (read: Brandon Stokley, 2004). Bill Polian himself has said that he drafted Gonzalez so that the Colts could run the 3-WR sets that made their passing game so lethal in late '03 and '04. Gonzalez should contribute right off the bat, as he's very bright (almost went to Stanford Law School) and will pick up the offense quickly. He'll be a decent bye-week filler (have LOTS of WRs on bye during Week 9) and may be good trade bait later on.

Best picks: Eli Manning and Reggie Brown
Worst picks: Vernon Davis and Jets D

Overall, I'd probably give myself a "B" grade for this draft. I'm stacked at QB and WR/TE and made what I think are some good sleeper picks, but I'm thin at RB and my defenses are mediocre. If a couple of things go my way, I can win a championship with this squad.
Hat Trick
Keeper: Larry Fitzgerald

Going into the draft I was WAY behind the group in terms of RB talent. I had my eyes squarely on Peterson and MJD, I thought/hoped I'd get one of them.

2.02 - Palmer - With Peterson and both MJD scoped up before me I decided to hang my hat on Palmer who I think is going to have his best season yet. I really needed a RB, but I didn't want all my eggs in the same basket chosing James here. I never even thought about drafting Lynch, I just dont care for the guy for some reason or another.

3.02 - Edge - Sigh, well I wasn't hinging my RB hopes on Portis or Jacobs this season, it sucks to have two starters on the same team (especially the Cards), but I couldn't pass up James here. I was the only team without a RB and I wasn't picking for a long time.

4.11 - Calvin Johnson - I desperately need to find a keeper and I was targeting Peterson and Johnson before the draft as must haves this year. Took him too early, but I wanted him. He may not produce Moss like rookie numbers, but by mid season I expect him to start to dominate with his physical skills.

5.02 - Duece McAllister - Say what you will about R Bush, but McAllister is too talented of an inside runner not to get as many touches as he can handle, especially to keep Reggie fresh and active in the passing game. Excellent value here and started to feel better about my RB's.

6.11 - Joey Galloway - This guy is old as dirt, but he's the #1 WR and he had slipped far enough that I'd take a chance on him. So so pick.

7.02 - De'Shaun Foster - Here I go again, Foster was my RB sleeper of the year last year.......we all know how that panned out. I decided he's going to still be the starter and if Fox is going to be stubborn then I will as well. This is your last chance De'Shaun.

8.11 - Kellen Winslow - This is value here, had this been a PPR league this would have been gold. Kellen is easily top 3 in TE production, and with it not being a mandatory TE league I was looking for a #1 WR/TE, he's pretty dang close to that and I had him last year in leagues and he did well for me.

9.02 - Chris Henry RB - I was swinging for the fences here, I need to find a sleeper RB, and a potential keeper. Might have been able to wait, but once again, I wasn't picking for awhile and I was not sure if he'd last.

10.11 - MIA DEF - I went to take a piss, kiss the wife goodnight and smoke a cig and I came back and my screen was locked up, ONLY MFL, frozen. I kept trying to open it and was getting an hourglass. I had to shutdown all windows and get back into the huddle to get the MFL link to our league. When I got back in I had the MIA Defense (was pretty upset), not only were there other defenses I was targeting (uh hem DEN Broncos), but they weren't even ranked on my sheet anywhere near where the draft tracker picked them for me. Now I really have to scramble to catch up not to piss off Dennis and not to get stuck with back to back picks I didn't want.

11.02 - Byron Leftwich - It was a quick scramble, but I managed to sift through and find a good backup QB in a quick amount of time. I had Byron pegged as a sleeper for this year. Like I said I think Palmer is going to be HUGH this season, so this was just insurance at its best for me.

12.11 - Tony Hunt - Westbrook isn't the most durable guy and I really liked Hunts value here, I knew he was about to go off the board so I took him. Anyone seeing a trend with my RB's yet?

13.02 - OAK DEF - Would have felt a whole lot better had I got the Broncos DEF when I was targeting them, but I'm hoping this DEF improves and doesn't regress. They put up some decent points last year for a team that was just terrible.

14.11 - Stephen Gostkoski - Now way I was waiting till my last pick as I always do with him sitting here. NE should give him plenty of opportunities.

15.02 - Jason Witten - Was pretty shocked to say the least that Witten is still sitting here. He is almost a #2 WR/TE, especially with Glenn hurting right now. I felt this was very good value and I needed some more depth and experience in my WR core.

The draft went pretty much as I thought it would. I ended up with a lot of rookies, which I had known I was going to target. I simply needed to go after sleepers and potential keepers. I'd rate my draft a C, I just don't have the talent at WR and RB that I'd like to have, but I'm not disappointed.

I look forward to this thread every year.

Keepers: Larry Johnson, Laurence Maroney

Threw back: Carson Palmer (figured there would be alot of QB talent available and worst case we could pick up a top WR and then grab Bulger or someone like that.......obviously that didn't happen)

Pick 3.6 Lee Evans. One of the most targeted WR's in the NFL, capable of putting up huge numbers do to his speed and being a longball threat. We have him projected as a top 10 WR, and feel pretty good about where we got him Note: If Clinton Portis or Edgerrin James are here, we grab them and feel stacked at RB

Pick 4.7 TJ Houshmazilly. Wanted Walker or TJ here, and Walker was taken right before us. There is nothing not to like about Housh. He played 14 games last year and ~1100 yards, 10 tds. He is the 1A to Chad Johnson and with Chris Henry out, we like his upside aroung the goalline. Considered going QB with this pick and if Housh isn't here....we go QB

Pick 5.6 Chicago Bears D. It goes without saying that we were leaving this draft with the Bears D. Cake playoff schedule, 2 years as a top 2 D, and they are only getting better. We like this group as a serious difference maker with the ability to go for 20+ points a few times a year and possibly squeek out some victories

Pick 6.7 Michael Turner. We feel set with our core of LJ, Maroney, Evans, TJ, Bears D at this point so we go in a different direction with "The Burner". Honestly surprised in a keeper league he is still here. Heaven forbid LT were to go down (my fav player), the Burner becomes top 5 pick worthy. Worst case he plays backup and maybe moves on to greener pastures next year. Potential keeper pick.

Pick 7.6 Fred Taylor. Wanted Santonio Holmes here and thought for sure he would be there. Sure enough, he is scooped up right before us. We go with the vet who had a surprising 1300 yards and 5 tds last year while MoJo Drew ran wild. The Jags have a ridiculously easy run schedule, and Freddy should be a solid bye week filler. If LJ were to hold out, Fred could start for us for a while. Solid value as RB30 off the board

Pick 8.7 DJ Hackett. Everyone's in vogue "sleeper". He's in a good situation in Seattle, and I'm not sold Deion Branch is really the best receiver on this squad. Hackett has size and speed, and can go up in traffic and make the tough catch. Really like him as a our WR3 with upside to perform as a WR2. We see Vince Young and Phillip Rivers left, and feel like one of them will make it back to us.

Pick 9.6 Greg Jennings. ugh....don't get me wrong...i love greg jennings. I'm on this guy's nuts like a squirrel in the dead of winter. But with Young and Rivers off the board, we don't see any QB's left that we love....We'll grab the best of the rest with our next pick.

Pick 10.7 Leinart, Cutler, Eli Manning, Delhomme, Rothlisberger all go in front of this pick....WOW.....never saw that run on backups coming. We scramble and grab 65 year old Bret Favre. We think this gunslinger has one season left in him, and with a healthy Driver and Jennings, and no run game to speak of, he'll be chucking it alot this year.....we look up last year's stats and are a little surprised that Favre was QB#9 despite all his INTs. Not bad value for 16th QB off the board.

Pick 11.6 We grab JP Losman who has improved each of his 3 years in the league. No doubt he has a brutal schedule, but he can be servicable in a pinch. Plus when we start him, we'll have the Losman Evans connection, and we'll be praying for that 260 yard, 3 td performance this week.

Pick 12.7 LenDale White....meh...he's young, its the 12th round, and he could emerge a starter in Tennessee.....Worth a gamble in the 12th.

Pick 13.6 Patrick Crayton.....TO and TGlenn are old as shiz. If one of them were to go down, Crayton steps in to a nice position. He's also another one of these guys that has improved each year in the league

Pick 14.7 Michael Robinson....Why not. Frank Gore has 2 surgically repaired shoulders, 2 surgically repaired knees and now a broken hand in a non contact drill....Robinson has the ability to bowl people over with his size, and he is still learning to think like a RB. He becomes a solid option if Gore goes down. and he's available for trade!

Pick 15.6 Neil Rackers.....could go Stover here, but Rackers has a booming leg and we like the Cardinals changing to more of a ball control offense. Should have some good scoring chances here.
Brewer
This draft felt weird to me. I probably haven't spent as much time preparing this year as I have in years past, but I was pretty sure of what I wanted to do when we started.

Kept LT, McGahee and S.Smith.

4.08 In the past, I feel like I've gotten burned at wr/te depth, so I targeted a WR here. Wanted Burress or Driver. Took Coles. Not excited about this pick, but feel that it was a decent player in this spot.

5.05 This one felt weird. Wanted WR or QB here. The next group of receivers that I had pegged kind of just all looked the same and I didn't really care which one of them that I had. However, I feel that Kitna can put up decent numbers, and I prefer him to the next few options at the position.

6.08 Looking at RB3 or WR3 here. At wr3, I decide to wait, target edwards or holmes next round, and took lamont jordan. While I don't expect him to be anything more then a rb3, he does have the starting job for at least the first 5 weeks, and I need him to cover byes in weeks 7 and 8. Here's hoping that he doesn't lose that starting role in week 6. Thought hard about julius jones here.

7.05 Based on 6.08, was going WR3 here. Furley made my decision easier and I took Holmes. Going into his 2nd year, hopefully he can put up a few more tds. Don't expect him to go apeSega! or anything, but I'm happy with him at WR3.

8.08 Just kind of played this one as it went. Thought about RB here, specifically Droughns, as I think that he will get enough touches in Giant land to be a servicable fiiller. However, I decide that I will probably be able to pick him up in a later round. Nobody really excites me at WR at this point. I had Shockey, Heap and Davis tagged as tight ends to pickup at WR4 or 5. At this point, I can't pass on Shockey's 800 yards and 7 or 8 scores. If someone can predict when they will be, please feel free to PM me.

9.05 In the 9th round, I'm looking at Phillip Rivers sitting there. I've been burned in the past at the QB slot and like the option of having a choice at the position.

10.08 Time for a D. Can't feel too bad about Pitt at 10.08.

11.05 Was going to take Shayne Graham here, but decided to take a flyer on Mike Furrey here instead. I believe that there will be plenty of receiving yards to go around in Det. Question is, will Furrey be squeezed into a #3 role? Probably, but I'll take the chance and hope that Kitna spreads it around.

12.08 Took Droughns as RB4. Not convinced that Jacobs can do it all.

13.05 Took Elam, thanks to dafreaks for swiping Graham out from under me.

14.08 Seattle D. What can I say, a backup D.

15.05 In round 12, I talked myself into droughns, then PK in 13, D in 14, and anthony Thomas in rd 15. Dafreaks strikes again. moon.gif Decided to take McMichael and see what he can do in Stl.

I don't feel like I got any real "steals" in this draft. I do think that Santonio Holmes in the 7th was nice value. I probably reached for Pitt in the 10th, but they were the 5th D off the board at that point, and Furrey was a stretch. Other then that, I think that most of my picks fell into the range that I would expect. Nothing very exciting.

Not feeling too bad about putting:

Kitna or Rivers

LT/McGahee

S.Smith/L.coles/S.Holmes

Pitt and elam

out on the field each week though.

Ralph Furley
Going into the draft, I didn't feel too solid on my keepers. I don't know why, but I just didn't.

Keepers: Reggie Bush and Reggie Wayne

3.4 Brandon Jacobs - Had to get another RB because it was forever between my picks. I thought he was the best option available at the spot, so I took him. I feel he'll be pretty solid.

4.9 Drew Brees - Although I've told myself for years he would never be on a fantasy team of mine (My wife dated him while at Purdue. Multimillion NFL QB or junior high PE/health teacher?), but I had to take him at this spot. He has the potential to be the #2 QB in our league again.

5.4 Deion Branch - I wanted to start getting my starting lineup going before taking reserve RBs. I've always liked Branch. Not sure how much I want to rely on him every week.

6.9 Julius Jones - Very skeptical of this guy. Heck Barber went well before him I believe. Even though he splits carries it was hard to pass on a starter at this point. I've hear good things with the coaching change in regards to JJ. We’ll see.

7.4 Braylon Edwards - Liked the pick here. He should round out my starting trio of WRs. Decent value here.

8.9 Chargers - Wanted a decent D and the Ravens just got picked earlier. A little early for a D, but wanted to fill my starting spots.

9.4 Todd Heap - A lot of TEs still available. I just like Todd Heap and figured he'd be in my lineup consistently at some point. I played the TE merry go round last year for the #3 WR spot and seemed to work ok.

10.9 Leon Washington - Not really sure why I picked him to be honest. I guess I just saw TJ go down with a calf injury and hoped that maybe it was bad. Probably not the smartest idea, but I wasn't really sure where to go with this pick.

11.4 Rex Grossman - Me likey Rex. Actually I needed a QB to fill in for Brees week 4 and the Bears are playing Detroit. Kind of funny, but during the draft I took Rex because I thought he was playing Cleveland week 4. Turns out Cleveland is week 4 of the preseason. doh.gif I was in a hurry and just counted 4 games down. Either way, he'll play well that week.

12.9 Robbie Gould - just wanted another Bear

13.4 Alge Crumpler - He's put up decent numbers with Vick, and now he's got a real QB throwing the ball...wait no he doesn't. I wanted to draft him just on name alone.

14.9 -Michael Bennett - Priest actually went right before him. I figured why not? Hold out LJ!!!

15.4 - Derrick Mason - Any gas left in the tank? Maybe a spot start once in a while.
