The taxi squad rules is a gray area that may need more explanation. The rules currently read: "Taxi Squad: TS is for players with three or less years experience only. Once you start a player with three or less years experience, you can not put them on or back on your taxi squad. If player has been started on one team, then traded to another, they still can not be on the taxi squad."

Based on the current rosters I will assume that owners feel that at the beginning of a new season if a player has 3 years or less experience they can be placed back on the Taxi Squad once again even if they played the previous year. Is this the case or does it need to be voted on?

I read it to mean that a player with 3 or less years in the league can't be placed on the taxi squad if they have been used in the starting lineup of any team, during any season.

The problem from my standpoint is that it is very difficult to enforce this rule without either doing a fair amount of research or operating on the honor system.

Well I would hate to have to vote on a rule this late in the game, but if your statement above is correct then many owners will have to either cut players on their taxi squad or place them back on their current rosters forcing others to be cut. This was something I wanted clarification on since we are only 8 days away from the deadline.

That's cool most seem ok now. If anyone sees someone on a taxi squad you think started in a game or is over 3 years experience you just have to go to the 2006 site or before and you can look at all weeks starting lineups.

Our taxi squads aren't being used properly. We should enforce the rules to create more FA. The waiver wire is really bare.

"A 5-slot taxi squad is also available for players under development. A player may only be placed on the taxi squad in their rookie year (we made an exception for the first year of our league). Once on the taxi squad, a player may be held there for three seasons. Any player promoted from the taxi squad to the regular roster, and placed in a starting lineup, may never be placed back on the taxi squad by any team."

From our constitution

I would also take this to mean if a 2nd or 3rd year player is promoted to a team's regular roster, he can't be moved back to anyone's taxi squad.

That seems plain as day to me.

It would be nice if MFL had the capability to regulate taxi squads.

I'll address this shortly. We will enforce the rules as written.

I don't think that will be necessary. We can collectively police each other.

I've clarified and reposted the taxi squad rules under the cutdowns thread. I think we also need to agree on a penalty for carrying illegal players on the taxi squad.

Free agent dollars lost would be a good deterrent, can we get something in place before the season starts?
