Full Version: Irish's Draft analysis (Practically Numbers only)...

As in all my other leagues my rankings are based not only on my projections but with the use of several other tools as well. I looked at each team and used the best lineup they could field overall based on those projections and tools. The numbers are the total points the best starting lineup will score over 16 weeks and then the average per week. This system, as crazy as it may seem, has been pretty damn accurate over the years as after each draft I'm in I use it. For just one example, I did my rankings for my local last year and 3 out of the 4 top teams I ranked made the playoffs and the team I had ranked 2nd won the Championship. Here they are...

#1 Yo Mama's- 2,084.3 = 130.27
#2 Man-Whore- 1,995.5 = 124.72
#3 Milwaukee's- 1,954.4 = 122.15
#4 Hudy Delight- 1,947.1 = 121.69
#5 Megalomania- 1,898.6 = 118.66
#6 Green Guy- 1,895.5 = 118.47
#7 SF Drug Lords- 1,886.2 = 117.89
#8 Seaside Cats- 1,885.5 = 117.84
#9 Bad Azz Warr.- 1,883.7 = 117.73
#10 THEEOhioState- 1,870.1 = 116.88
#11 Me Wantee- 1,817.5 = 113.59
#12 BigMike in NY- 1,789.1 = 111.82

Teams I really liked- Yo Mama's, Hudy Delight, Mega's, Green Guy's and Milwaukee's. Even though I have TOS's ranked 10th, with those WRs he could certainly make something happen if D Williams pans out. He's the Dark Horse!

Teams stumbling out of the gate- BigMike's (were you autopicked for, not busting just wondering), Seaside Cats- stop drafting Panthers for cryin' out loud!! wink.gif Seriously don't like SA, Ro. Brown seems to have more questions as each day passes, Randy's status is up in the air and Glenn's already banged up and might not start the season. You passed on the likes of the; Jags, Dolphins, Eagles, Broncos, Hawks, Cowboys, Vikings, Packers and Cardinals to pick the Panther D. All of those Ds, especially the Jags, Cowboys, Vikings and Eagles are rated higher IMO. But who knows with defenses from year to year. I just think you draft your fantasy teams from too much of a Homer perspective. Hell you even grabbed Jeff King...again. wink.gif

So there they are, sorry for not doing an elaborate write up as I did in the other leagues, as I just didn't have the time coming off Labor Day Weekend, plus doing several drafts at once and as TOS said starting up my own league. However this gives you the basic jist of how things unfolded. Remember it's just one man's opinion and I know nothing more than any of you, however, take it with a grain of salt and just enjoy the season. Trades, WW work and making the right decisions in general from week to week with all the flexibilty in choosing your lineups in this league will definitely make a hugh difference. In the end, the games/records will speak for themselves.

And again, thanks for all the help with things TOS, you're awesome! smile.gif

I predict that the final standings will be waaaaay different than Irish's rankings. (but of course, I don't see myself finishing as the 2nd to worst team...) smile.gif

Screw that! Irish is a misunderstood genius. (Did I just say that? unsure.gif)

Apparently, Irish's favorite and highly ranked players are the opposite of mine. I haven't gotten a favorable rating from him at all this year (as opposed to MikesVikes). He must love, love, love all the Cowboys players...

I'll be remarking on this midseason when i'm 6-2
Kid Cid
Thanx for doing this Irish.

Did he really pick me as the #2 team?

#1 Yo Mama's- 2,084.3 = 130.27 - 1st right on the money
#2 Man-Whore- 1,995.5 = 124.72 - 5th
#3 Milwaukee's- 1,954.4 = 122.15 - 12th worst call must've had some major injuries here.
#4 Hudy Delight- 1,947.1 = 121.69 - 2nd
#5 Megalomania- 1,898.6 = 118.66 - 10th another bad call.
#6 Green Guy- 1,895.5 = 118.47 - 6th right on the money.
#7 SF Drug Lords- 1,886.2 = 117.89 - 7th right on the money.
#8 Seaside Cats- 1,885.5 = 117.84 - 8th right on the money.
#9 Bad Azz Warr.- 1,883.7 = 117.73 - 9th right on the money.
#10 THEEOhioState- 1,870.1 = 116.88 - 4th bad call but I'm learning that TOS is a very solid owner and can work his way out of a jam.
#11 Me Wantee- 1,817.5 = 113.59 - 3rd bad call solid job by Mr. Wantee this season to go along with those beautiful cans.
#12 BigMike in NY- 1,789.1 = 111.82 - 11th practically on the money here as well.

I don't know why but thought this was a good time to check in to see how I did with my preseason predictions.

After 12 weeks I made several really great calls and a couple poor calls. If I'm at the correct site and are looking at the correct standings than the comparison I made above isn't too shabby, especially when you consider all of the injuries that have taken place. My projections and point totals are on the left in black and next to them in red are each team's current position in the league.

6 of my predictions were right on the money or 1 spot off!! w00t.gif 2 others were just a few spots off but pretty close as well. So I pretty much pegged 8 out of the 12 teams in this league. However, one of those bad calls, TOS's team, I had as my dark horse. So it wasn't a complete miss.

dude, you were all over the map. get over yourself. calling the 6-9 teams means nothing if you called the 3 and 4 teams lower. it didn't take a genius to seed yo high after the #1 pick. pardon me if i ignore your stock tips.

Easy Tone, go kick your dog or something. You don't have to jump all over me for just bringing the post back up and stating where I went right and claiming where I went wrong with a little pizazz. It was just for discussion and having some fun to look back on and here you are telling me to get over myself, etc. Predicting the seeding for any league would be tough and as I said going into it, it was just for fun. By the way, having the #1 doesn't automatically mean you've got a great team. Alot can, does and has happened this season. Man o man, sometimes I wonder why I bother. whacko2.gif

Enjoy the rest of the season fellas. smile.gif

I think you goy lucky on mine. I was hanging at 2nd-3rd most of the season until the injuries caught up to me..... Freaking Denver RBs and S. Holmes

The lesson here: don't underestimate me (MeWantee). There's a big difference between 3rd and 11th place. Although there is the very real possibility that I could end up in 7th after next week. Very little difference between 3rd through 7th place teams in this league, with TOS being the exception (1 tie bastard wink.gif )

I appreciate your efforts Irish, but I believe Tone is perhaps suggesting a little less patting of one's own back. Confidence is good, but if you take it too far, it can come across as gloating or being self centered. You have done this in the name of fun and I love that.

1st has it's advantages... as both TOS and Apoc can attest to, having the 1st round pick has served me very well in BOTH Bling Bling even with some serious injuries these last few weeks.

this is not pizzazz, this is a big freakin' head. your post came off like you needed to revisit us and tell us how good your picks were, when they weren't really that good at all.

I thought he did a good job. In a season with so many injuries, it's really surprising that he hit the nail on the head with 1/2 the spots to a tee.

It's a better job of then i could have done, so i'll give him some props and say thanks once again Irish for doing this at my request. It was for fun so we shouldn't be getting pissy with each other about it.

I was under the assumption that Irish's picks were our seedings for the playoffs. You mean to tell me I spend 12 weeks constructing a playoff monster with the third seed and now I find out I am in last place and his rankings were just for fun? In the future this league needs to make it very clear to all participants what the rules are. I would have proceeded in an entirely different manner...like not drafting anybody that I did draft. shades.gif
