Full Version: two things for the league

I have had owners talk to me about each of these two things ... so, I just wanted to get them out there for us to all talk about over the next couple of weeks. I'll assume that if you don't chime in that you agree with me. So, if you don't please comment...otherwise, I'm likely to issue an edict. Note that the two owners that raised issue #1 are not the same as the one owner that raised issue #2.

Here were their comments to me:

Issue #1 --" I wish I could redo my vote on expansion. Even though the auction already happend and players were awarded contracts and signing bonuses, I still really wish we were expanding to 12 owners this coming offseason."

Issue #2 -- "I wish dues were going up for next season."

............................................

My thoughts:

Issue #1 -- Me too. I wish we were expanding to 12 owners, and would absolutely vote to expand this coming offseason. It doesn't have to be difficult for anyone ... and it absolutely has to be fair. Other dynasty-ish leagues have expanded before, and have done it fairly for all parties, and we can too. I am NOT concerned in the least about doing this now that our auction occurred and players were allocated and contracts awarded without knowing that expansion was in the air... The league would (imo) be better off as a 12 team league and if I have to give up something to make that happen I can and I will.

Issue #2 -- I'd like to bump the dues as long as everyone was in agreement. Given the longer-term nature of this league, if anyone sees any reason to bump the dues (or to require two years of dues to be paid at all times) ... or something like that ... I'd be open to discussing the idea.

#1. Absolutely

#2. No. I would not be in favor of dues rising at all. If this happened I would bow out of the league. I have a budget for FF every year, and am not willing to raise it at all. As for the paying for 2 years option, I would be against that as well. If the issue is that we need people to pay for two years to commit to the league, then obviously we are recruiting the wrong owners.

Don't really want to see an expansion as I don't feel like giving up any players. I wouldn't throw a tissy and quit on this issue, but I don't feel this does anything to help the league I already like and enjoy.

I really don't want to see a rate increase. Like Chief I would have to strongly consider whether I would return if the fees are increased.

Here are three links on the expansion issue from last offseason for those who want a refresher on some of the ideas that were discussed:

First thread / poll started on 10/27/05 ... was evenly split with 3-1-2 votes ...

Second thread started on 12/12/06

Third thread / vote started on 3/26/7 ... includes a relatively detailed proposal on the "how" of expansion
