appears legal.
There was some question that roland could not drop C. Thorpe because he has played this week. Clearly, roland could not have dropped him if he had started him, but roland did not start him.
Our rules state:
QUOTE
8. The first pickup deadline will be the Thursday before the regular season starts. Pickups can occur throughout the entire season (including playoffs!). After the deadline on Thursday any player may be picked up until 1:00 PM EST Sunday (unless that player has already played earlier that week; i.e. Thursday on Thanksgiving ). This is done on a first come first serve basis and begins at 10:00 AM EST on Thursdays. All of these moves are made at the MFL website. The move is $10 off the cap, if you don't have $10 left, you can't make the transaction. All position requirements as in the bidding system must be met.
The rule prohibits a player from being picked up after he has played, but not from being dropped.
Thanks. for clearing that up.
'Teve,
I don't mean start a stink, but I disagree. The rule says if the "PLAYER already played" (which Thorpe did).
What if :Thorpe had his knee twisted 3 different ways, and he was obvious OUT for the season, now Roland could drop this benched roster player who had played an extra game. Switch this scenario to a sometimes starting player, say Julius Jones... And he happened to be benched THIS week, and got hurt. The Jones owner has additional information, and is allowed to replace a player, because he played earlier in the week.

As much as I don't want to, I have to agree here. The intent of the rule is if a player's Pro game has already occurred that week, then he is off limits until FA the following week.
I see your points--honestly I do. However, I can easily see how roland interpreted the rule because I interpreted it the same way. He also did not drop an injured player. While I can guarantee the rule will be better written for next year, I don't see how I can go back and make roland reacquire the player in question and drop gage (whom he ended up starting). If we all interpreted the rule the same way, roland likely would have dropped someone else for gage (he has 2 kickers). Can I say for certain he would have? No I can't.
As commish, I'm leaving things as is. I don't see how we can take a vote on this issue because I told roland (and the league) that the move was okay, prior to kickoff of the games sunday. That's on me. By my doing so, I did not give roland the opportunity to correct this.
I am open to input on this issue so feel free to chime in.
How come every f'n time there's a rule question, roland is involved?
Im cursed that way. Hmmm jealousy abounds....... Im beautiful so you hate me.... or I have no idea.
But yes I would have dropped a K or my 2nd def i or a player who had not started. If that was how to avoid this.
The rule discusses "any player may be picked up" it does not address those you are dropping so I can see the wiggle roomm here. But the letter of the law I think Teve ruled correctly. Nect year we can add any player who has played cant be invloved in any FA moves... but then I would have simply dropped a def, K or D jack.
Agree with phatbear and kidcid on this one, and also agree with roland that this rule should be re-written to include no drops/adds of players who have already started their game for the week.
