I get screwed 2 years in a row now g-bash.gif

Last season i had 2nd best record in league and got a #4 seed.

This year, i have 2 more wins then the #2 seed and more points. I have 3 more wins and 350 more points then the #3 seed.

Somehow i'm the #4 seed again glare.gif

Something needs to be altered where a team isn't penalized for winning games in a better division. smash.gif

So, if i lose in week 1 of the playoffs, I'm out of the money, even though over the course of the season, i have been a better team then 2 other ranked ahead of me.......................that just doesn't seem fair.

Come one now.... you aren't THAT much better than my team (points wise and, as we know, record is often luck of the draw). Certainly not enough to make too much of a stink.

Now the difference between you and the #3 seeded team is a bit bigger...

Agreed. The point is this is FF and not the NFL, so why do we try to fool ourselves into emulating a system based on an NFL tradition. This is FF and our money, so we should try to correct the system where it becomes more fair for us who play and set aside this notion that we are somehow linked to the NFL in some odd way.

I just don't know. The fact is, you are in playoffs as you should be. The only gripe is that you, as the 2nd highest point total, do not get the 1st round bye. However, the good teams make the playoffs in most cases and this adds a little dimension to the league.

I'm not totally against changing it up a bit, but I am also not going to rally for it.

It does suck for you, and trying to separate the fact that I benefited by getting the #2 seed, I just think the differences between our 2 teams are very small. It's interesting and fun that the divisions came into play in awarding me the #2 seed.

I am fighting for ONE division in all the league I play and this is just one small example I can cite. It happens year in and year out, where better qualified teams are not making the playoffs due to horrible teams winning horrible divisions and getting an automatic bid. I'm in another league, where a division winner advances to the playoffs at the expense of a team with 2 more wins. A sub .500 team goes and a better team gets the shaft because he played in a tougher division..............isn't there already an advantage of playing in a crappy division? Why add more of an advantage and give them a free pass and higher seed on top of it ?

Not only the 2nd highest point total, which isn't even my gripe...............it's also the fact I have 2 to 3 more wins then others that are going to be seeded higher and gain an advantage with a bye

This plea really has very little to do with me or this league. I am speaking out about it, in every league i'm in. I just think we should work towards a better system that will recognize and reward a team for 13 weeks of work, over the luck of being in a division where a .500 record gains you a higher seed.

The Empire has it's advantages to this divisional mess, although not perfect, you have to be a top 6 team when compared to the entire league, and not just a top team compared to 2 or 3 others in a division.

But I will point out that in Empire you will slip into the playoffs based on record (a tie), while your points are lower than many teams that are finishing out of the playoffs. And that's one league with no divisions. It's a different animal, but it hardly seems fair that you are in while there are several others who are seeded lower than you or missing the playoffs all together. It's certainly not your fault that that's how it's set up, but you benefitted in that league by playing the right teams on the right weeks.

I just say this to point out that anyone can look at things from a different angle. I pay far less attention to record, no matter the league set up, than I do total points in terms of what's fair. You have the 2nd highest points in Bling, but really not by much. I could just as easily have been 11-2, but caught some teams on good weeks for them (I believe I did beat Headbangers). That's the nature of the beast in any league no matter the set up. You win some (Empire) and lose some (Bling).

I have faith that your team will be a force in the Bling playoffs. If I remember correctly, I went on to win this league last year from the 3 or 4 seed.

I think when focusing on Total points it's important to note a team scoring 200+ in a few weeks, then falling under 100 for several others. We all have our great weeks, but consistency is the key i'd look for. I think in order to achieve the goal I'm searching for you'd have to take teams based on multiple categories and not focus soley on wins and losses. I think a system the rewards 2 teams based on overall winning percentage, 2 teams based on total points and 2 teams based on power rankings would net you the best possible 6 teams, that have shown in one area or another to be the most deserving.

It's just my opinon and i offer it as food for thought for next season. I have made the playoffs in 12 of 14 leagues this season, and have benefited by many of the things I am here now complaining about. My point is , the system and we as owners should explore a way to make it more fair, that's all.

Please note, i finished the season on a 4 game win streak and have a better record then 8 of the 12 teams. While I don't have the points to back up that win-loss record, I do have more points then the #6 seed BadAzzWarriors. My power rank is also at #5 . So while I may be a #3 seed over what I should have been .............a #5? There isn't an advantage, as no byes are being handed out for either seed.

I hear ya about the food for thought.

Consistency is very hard to measure outside of total points. I've never looked too carefully at the power rankings on MFL, but that may be a good measure. Yet there still exists the question of who gets the 2 first round byes? Is it the 2 highest scoring teams? The best record? The 2 best power rankings? A combo of the three? I think it starts to get a bit too complicated.

... but where's the "consistency" you speak of with your Empire team? Winning 4 games at the end of the season is good and you are hot at the right time, but that's not consistency for which you say people should be rewarded on.

P.S. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the #3 seed in Emprie, but if I get 3 or more points from my kicker tonight, I will be the #3 seed. (Not that it matters as the 3-6 teams are way too close in strength).
