Full Version: My last year

Buffalo Wings
I figured that it would be best to post this now as everyone is still checking in once in awhile.

This will be my last year in this league. I need to cut down on the number of leagues I am in. Please note that it has nothing to do with my performance in this league, of which I am thoroughly embarrased. bag.gif I just don't have the time to dedicate to 7 leagues (that is way too many). My performace in some definitely suffered.

I know I made a major push to get everyone onboard this year and I worry that without doing it again next year, that this league will falter.

I hope that doesn't happen.

I wish you all good luck throughout the playoffs.

Of my leagues:

Better Luck Next Year - last place
Dynasty Wars - in rebuild mode and currently won't be really competative again for another 2 years
Hannibals - 1st seed (had a bye this past week)
Local leauge 1 - 2nd seed and won this week
Local league 2 - 3rd seed and lost this week
Interboard Challenge - The 5th best team out of 60 teams. In the Champions bracket of the playoffs.
32 Homers - I was the Buffalo Bills, so enough said.

Next year, I will be cutting 32 Homers, Interboard Challenge and BLNY.

If we do not change the waiver system I will be moving along myself. I do not make mid game waiver moves and in a league like this it is a must. please don't noone take this as whining. it is not...just my explanation. you guys have been a solid bunch of guys to play with and I cannot say a bad thing about any of you.

Buffalo, your dedication to the league has been appreciated. thanks and be cool man.

Doc---I'm sure we can move to a more viable alternative to waivers--be it a certain amount of doubloons per year or waiver order-I also am not a fan of first come first serve waivers all the time

If we could do that than I am all in again next year.

Since this ball is rolling I will add my two cents as well. I echo Doc's sentiments to the letter. I am going to be cutting back my exposure next year (I say that now) from seven leagues to probably five. BLNY was first on the chopping block for the reason Doc pointed out. There is a big advantage to the guy camped out in front of Sunday's games versus the guy not doing it. Speaking strictly for myself, it is tough to truly stay up with this league with the 24/7 waiver format. I feel a little A Rod right now talking about these things with guys trying to win the title but I guess it is better out there now then August of next year! Whining? Not me, I am thrilled with my 7-6 record and late season run. What we should be really talking about is expanding the playoff teams from 6 to 7... shades.gif

Add another to the list of those that would be happy to have free agency closed on Sundays and Mondays, and some sort of waiver system employed. In order to be competitive, it is a must to be in front of the TV all day Sunday, and while I was able to do that for probably 8-9 weeks, you feel a real disadvantage when you cannot be.

Our league here will be at a real loss if Buffalo, Doc and KSU all decide to leave....I think we can come up with some viable alternatives to keep everyone happy and participating. Buffalo, we need ya, man...you're our Big Toe! I'd hate to see BLNY go by the wayside after just two seasons.

MFL allows you to use an auction with a 24 hour clock. High bid wins when no new bid is placed for 24 hours. I use it in some leagues. In some of them we also use FCFS from Thursday morning to Sunday Morn on any player not up ay auction.

I prefer blind bidding to auctions myself, but we will put all options on the table after the playoffs. I don't like FCFS, it was just the easy out when typing up the proposed rules a couple of years ago. I honestly thought it would be voted on and changed before the initial season started.

After the playoffs, we will address the FCFS waivers first. We will first vote on: Would you like to see another form of waivers besides FCFS? yes or no? Once that vote is in, we'll set up some different options and vote on them. This way, we won't get tied up with a non-majority because some want option 1 and some prefer option 2.

Love to see everyone stay, as this is my only Redraft league, but I'm another one with too many leagues so I understand the situations. No hard feelings. If Tim (BW) doesn't see the evil in his ways and repent his decision to leave, we will also be looking for a new treasurer for next year, as I don't want the money (outside of the microscopic chance I actually win some in the next decade).

I also prefer blind bidding.

That being said ,I hope none of you playoff teams think me ,or any of us who have spoke on this is making excuses. the teams that deserve to be there are there..plain and simple.

Doc is making excuses, the rest of us are just speaking from the heart. sneaky.gif

I'm in for blind bidding and extending the waivers throughout the playoffs. I had no idea we couldn't pick anyone up after week 13 until too late.
Don't like the rule at all, if we're worried about teams dumping players, then a separate rule can be written for that.

Anyone interested in making this auction style ?
