Seems to me like we should freeze rosters for teams no longer playing.

No need to freeze my team, they've been ice cold all year. They should be good and thawed by next September. Fresh , unfrozen and ready to heat up.

Why cause you see Rhino out there picking up potential keepers right and left? Make a suggestion to add it to the rules for next year.

Actually Rhino is still playing ... but it was his moves that made me think.

Yes ... this is the suggestion to open the discussions for a rule modification in the off season.

Teams out of the playoffs should not have the opportunity to 'mine for gold' so to speak.

In a re-draft league, I agree. In a keeper league, I disagree. Those still playing can pickup potential keepers, but those out of the playoff race cannot? Don't like it.

On the other side of the coin those NOT in the playoffs have the liberty of cutting any player they want without having to worry about attempting to field a winning team; i.e. there is no reason a team can't cut their kicker(s), back up TE, or any other dead weight in an attempt to stack up on potential diamonds in the rough.

Why on earth are waivers not frozen for the playoffs for everyone?

Agreed

Simply make sure there is a requirement to always have a valid starting lineup, whether or not a team is still in the playoffs. That way there's no possibility of filling up the roster with all skill positions. Also should be possible to limit WW moves to one / two per week if roster churn is a concern.

We are only keeping 3 players. If it is someone that you might want to keep next year, you better hang onto them. I think it likely has little impact if guys try to dredge the WW looking for gold. The likelihood that you are going to keep that player is remote as hopefully you'll have guys on your team that you'd rather keep.

1. I can't cut my kicker because we have a rule that my roster must be able to support a starting line-up.
2. What happens if someone doesn't carry a backup TE during the regular season? Is there an issue then?

I don't get it.

And, BTW, I believed I cut players that no playoff teams wanted to bolster their roster. I was very careful to follow the rules, and ensure that no one could take advantage (or cry foul) on those players that were dropped.

Hey, I need all the help I can get with keepers.

In 2006, NOR drafted Reggie Bush and destroyed the value I was hoping for in Deuce McAllister.
In 2007, MIN drafted APeterson and destroyed the value I was hoping for in Chester Taylor.

Give me a chance, pleeeeeeease!

I'm not sure I know what is being discussed anymore but I certainly don't think there should be any requirements to carry any back-up players if we don't want to.
