If we decide to do a live draft I feel it should be on a weekend and that these are the best options for it - Aug. 23, 24, 30 or 31. If you guys have other dates in mind I'm open to those as well. All else fails, we do a slow draft like last year and start it about 2 weeks prior to the first game.

So at this point several guys have responded that Sunday Aug. 24th would be a good day for a LIVE DRAFT. Below is a list of owners good with that date.

ETA: Doing the LIVE draft might be a problem for CL and maybe even the new owners that will evntually join this league. Therefore, I feel the slow draft will serve us best at this point. Therefore, as the title states, Monday Aug. 18th at 6 AM will be the start of our slow draft.

I'm good with every one of those as long as BB brings me a 6-pack of Pepsi. However, LIVE draft and slow draft are tied so far and IMO almost every owner, if not every owner, would need to agree on a live draft for that to take place. BB, I'd still accept the Pepsi though.

i voted slow only becuase my schedule is like the stock market...unpredictable.
The only weekend truly out for me is July 26-27 which is the same golf outing i host each year, but we moved it up a week.

At this point 3 other owners (outside of the new owner to be added yet) have yet to vote. However, the poll is split 4 for a live draft and 4 for a slow draft and therefore, I'm thinking we'll have to go with a slow draft, as we did last year, and start it about 2 weeks prior to the season.

Thoughts...

I think we should try for a LIVE draft and try and pin down 2-3 dates to accomplish it. If we can NOT come to a consensus to attempt a LIVE draft, we just opt for the slow draft. I think we should at least try it and see if we can come up with a date.

Being a teacher and having a plethora of dates from which to choose for a LIVE draft, I'm with you 100%. I'd be more than willing to throw out several dates to try and come to a concensus for the LIVE draft. However, I just don't think it'll happen with everyones' work schedules, vacation plans and the fact that we are spread out through all the different time zones.

The best way to try for a LIVE draft would most likely be a weekend day and more than likely it would have to be a Saturday so that if things ran late people wouldn't have to worry about getting up early the next day (maybe a Sunday starting at 12 noon ET). Even then I know BartenderWJT is..well a bartender in Vegas I believe and therefore, might be working the weekends.

So if you'd like to shoot for a LIVE Draft here are some dates we could consider...

Sat. Aug. 16th
Sun. Aug. 17th
Sat. Aug. 23rd
Sun. Aug. 24th
Sat. Aug. 30th
Sun. Aug. 31st

If we can't come to an agreement on a date everyone can be present for a LIVE draft than we're back to square one any way with a slow draft starting about 2 weeks prior to the start of the season- before, on or just after Aug. 21st.

I would prefer the weekend of 8/23 - 8/24, but I am good for all of the weekends, so I can be flexible for those have to pin down a more specific date.

8/23 & 8/31 are the only days neither Trey or I can do it. Any other day one of us if not both should be available.

Okay so PSU, Timmy and I are good on Sunday 8/24. If that doesn't work for everyone else, we're down to-

Sun. Aug. 17th (same as above)
Sat. Aug. 30th ( I already have a draft scheduled on this day-my local, but I'd do both at the same time if need be)

No need for airfare or travel arrangements. We'll meet on the innernets at the MFL site and draft. However, if you still feel the need to fly, I'm sure you can start out on your front lawn, put your arms out like airplane wings and fly to the room with your computer in it that you'll be drafting from. I can even call your cell phone and pretend to be the pilot and bring in Bronco Billy to fill the role of stewardess. PEANUTS anyone!!!!


Hey as Commish, I'm here to please.

I'd prefer slow draft due to schedule, but for a live one If it's later in the day on 8-24 after 7pm eastern then it shouldn't be a problem.
If earlier in the day i won't be able to make it since i'm on the road traveling between Illinois to Michigan every two weeks. (family obligation).
I'm usually home after 6ish

OK, so CL is available for a LIVE Draft on Sun. 8/24 however, it would have to start at about 7 PM or slightly after. I'll add you to the list of owners who are good with the date because even if it turns out to be a 4-5 hour draft which would be on average or even a bit long for a 16 round LIVE draft, it would end at about 11 or midnight.

I am fine with the slow draft. It seems like it will be too difficult to figure out a date that works for everyone, so maybe we should just go with the slow draft like originally planned.

Going with a slow draft is not a problem and is certainly one we can turn to on a dime. We have already discussed doing a slow draft and starting it around Aug 20th. So if all fails we can do that and that may end up being the case. However, 7 out of the current 10 owners that we have chiming in (excluding Doc and the new owner for PD) have already stated that they can make it for a LIVE draft on Sun. Aug. 24th starting at 7 PM. So I figured we can go with that until at least one owner steps up and says they can't do it. If that happens, I come on and say Slow draft starting on such and such a date at 6 AM and we move on.

Works for me. We've got a 4 to 4 1/2 week window before things start getting sticky in a slow draft format. Pretty good position to take.

So Sunday, Aug. 24th starting at 7 PM is no good for you, CL? If so, not a problem, we'll just go with a slow draft starting the week of Sun, Aug. 17th.

Short version... We take care of my father-in-law on weekends two states away. He just finished a first rnd of Chemo/rad which knocked him down pretty good, so we never know when we'll get home. It's been pretty late on sunday eve the last couple months, usually around 10ish EST, and i don't want to hold things up for you guys if the day runs late. It's crapshoot, i never know how things will go when we get there.

If it's easier to have a live one for everyone, ill try to move things around that day, so let me know. It's still a few weeks out so i may be able to plan around it. thanks

I'm sorry to here about your FIL and the fact that he's fighting through chemo/rad. And in regard to you having to switch things around to try and plan around taking care of family for a fantasy draft, absolutely not! We'll do what's best for all, even if that means having to accomodate just one owner. We will be doing a slow draft and starting it like I stated above. More specifics will follow in terms of the actual start date and time. Take care of your FIL.

We will be doing a slow draft this year that will start on Monday, Aug. 18th at 6 am. If anyone has a problem with that date let me know.
